Exactly! My intention was to frame it as utilitarian. There doesn't need to be any moralization. For instance, if you're playing poker why would you play with your hand facing outwards? Neither men nor women are stupid, we are all just independent agents trying to maximize our odds of winning at whatever game we define ourselves is playing.

I like the cut of your jib. It was fun to read.

It's accurate. However, a more accurate statement is most women's stated preferences aren't as selfish and self-serving.

Let's examine your viewpoint from a behavioral economics lens! In your mind, who is the buyer and who is the seller in this transaction?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/26 05:42 PM

No. Some want all of the optionality with none of the risk. In the previous paradigm, there was a trade-off between optionality and risk. If we are to share in both, that means sharing risk as well.

100% agree. We're both arriving at an economic model of human motivation and behavior. Reading your evocative post (you're a talented writer!), I am reminded of automatic vs manual drive cars. There's a benefit to cost equation for each choice according to the individual's automobile needs. You highlight an important point: the American Zeitgeist demands reaching beyond your means indefinitely, like a virus. For some (most), this isn't sustainable. I feel you want to recast acceptance in a more …

I feel this response on vibes. I would go so far as to say that no one has any other choice besides becoming who they are. However, I will push back here: do you think The demand for these traits are evenly distributed? To put it another way: you're stating that we are each a product and that it's better to have a good product that appeals to a niche rather than a product that tries to do everything poorly. This presumes that there's a buyer for every product. The positive frame of the above pos…

This is an amazing post. Thanks for taking the time to write it! The part that stood out the most to me was learning acting and presence so you can market yourself as a product.

Are you familiar with the Madonna/whore complex. Might help you find the answer you're looking for: neither/both.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/08/25 05:04 PM

Thanks for the reply and I agree with your intuition. I decided to look it up (asked perplexity) and got this: Here are the latest statistics on the percentage of men ages 18 to 60 in a relationship in the United States: For men aged 18-24, about 89% are single, meaning only about 11% are in a relationship (married or cohabiting). For men aged 25-29, about 60% are single (single defined as not married or cohabiting), so about 40% are in a relationship. For men aged 30-34, about 39% are single, s…

Read your other post and I like that you point out that we each or after separate but related goals: one optimizes for being the best object, the other optimizes to be the best subject. Again this is found all throughout the animal kingdom. Women are the gatekeepers to immortality as far as our genes are concerned. Everything males do is for access to that immortality. Think of rams and all of their competitive behavior during mating season. Think of all performative mating strategies such as bi…

You see status signaling traits and behaviors throughout the animal kingdom. You're right that we don't choose to have them in the same way that we don't choose that water is wet or the sky is blue. However I would push back and say that status signaling provides power in the literal sense. We are social animals so signaling status is how we accumulate and consolidate power. From an evolutionary psychology point of view, this gives our genes access to better genes to create stronger offspring. H…

I mean right now, The technology of animal domestication gives us similar physiological and psychological effects from pets.

I disagree. No one does anything unless (they believe) it benefits them. Let's look at status symbols used in intra-female competition. Fashion for example. Why do you or other women you've met care about what they wear? Who are you/they dressing for?

I'm curious. Do you believe that the physiological and psychological benefits of pair bonding require other humans?

I'm curious: why is it that men seek to make status symbols out of women? Who benefits from this arrangement?

I'm not sure of your position, but I want to call attention to the fact that this isn't as dystopian as it sounds. This is how progress works. You want a free market driving innovation in this and all spaces. Porn made the internet what it is today. Video games made AI what it is today. Even if you want to fuck your waifu bot all day, you probably want someone to repair it and you most certainly will want upgrades.

That's a great question. My statement was from an evolutionary psychology perspective, and I brought up historical context as a supporting argument. According to the selfish gene theory, we are hosts to genes that drive our behavior. Therefore, we can view libido as life propagating itself, regardless of how "we" personally feel about it. That drive is unchecked. In a vacuum, it will never be satisfied, because it's not our choice to make. Given the freedom of optionality, a consumer will always…

That's simply not true if you look at history. How many wives did Solomon have? Don't mistake preference for convenience. At the end of the day all humans are viruses, we have boundless desires.

Tell that to every hunter-gatherer that made the transition to agriculture. Farming and the surplus it provided was one of the most impactful, disruptive, AND restrictive technological innovations in human history compared to the hunter-gatherers that came before them. Seeing as you're on Reddit, this bargain seems to be a fair trade-off.

The truth we must face is that we want so much from the other that no human could ever fulfill that void in our heart. Either you can decrease your spending or increase your earning. Instead of mitigating our desires, we choose to purchase more "expensive" partners. Each of us have priced the other out of the market. This is why we will inevitably move towards technology to emancipate us from this double bind. It sounds dystopian, however technology has always freed us from the binds of our envi…

I love this take. I feel the same way. We are both subjects and objects.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/25 08:30 PM

The only other solution is reducing women to objects. Either we create objects or we make objects of each other. Sadly this cycle will repeat when we create true sentience in this pursuit, but currently, it is the most ethical solution. Also, right now, the pendulum is biased towards women, but as we've seen in nature, it will shift back. Both sides are reduced to objects. We need a third path.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/25 08:26 PM

It will and is fixing it right now. You vastly overestimate your perception of human connection. You vastly overestimate your own subjective experience. We are learning very quickly how simple our minds really are. For the unexamined self, an algorithm or two is more than sufficient.

Morality is for slaves. Think for yourself and understand that virtue is the fulfillment of reason.

I like your comparison between empiricism vs rationalism. Experience vs belief. It's not that men are fooled into believing porn, just like people aren't fooled into believing in a higher power. Most believe it because they want to. Because the alternative is too terrible to bear.

There's some value here. In the end it's behavioral economics, supply and demand. Technology is about to disrupt the market in a big way.

This is a great metaphor. Let's unpack it. Is a relationship a survival need in the modern era?

While I can't say I have "mastered" TRP ideals (I have never "spun plates"), about 2 years ago, I hit my rock bottom and through a series of epiphanies, I have begun the process of "becoming whole" as you put it. That being said, I feel that TRP represents a facet of the human condition that I should experience for a certain amount of time so I am intrigued by a perspective that demonstrates a logical progression between the two seemingly mutually exclusive viewpoints.

This thread has caused me to reevaluate what I thought TRP was. I had no idea how insightful, grounded, and actionable this viewpoint is (based on this thread). I believed this movement operated on using women as scapegoats for the current state of gender dynamics in western cultures. I was clearly mistaken.
