I think he rather means that the pool is so small that your chance is small that you find someone you like who is not already taken. Having a conversation helps. A good relationship with my parents is very important to me. Tell that you know your mom was a fucking bitch but that he needs to come to terms that he fucked up as well in x y z things, and that you eventually expect an apology for that or your relationship just won't be very good.

Very, it's taking care of your appearance. I need to make sure my beard does not look ridiculous as well, and I shave my armpits cuz otherwise they fucking stink..
