Very good degree to have as well. If I were to go back today I'd get a Mechatronics degree. People finally realized that so much stuff is a mix of Electrical/Electronics and Mechanical that they made a combined degree. Couple of the guys at work have that degree and it really helps in Automotive embedded systems. CompE is a really good compromise since so few schools provide Mechatronics because it is so new. It will be a good degree to have, best of luck!

Lots of hard work and long hours in school. Lots of advanced math. Long nights and tough classes. Then you graduate and you have a few years of grunt work in entry-level design tasks. Once you have 5-8yrs experience you get more senior roles - more strategic and direction (and more time to actually live your life). Source: 41yo with a BSEE and senior simulation engineer position.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
