Glad it was helpful. My kid was in public school until this year. We were in an absolute shit show of a district in King County, WA and then we moved into one of the top districts in the USA when we moved to Mississippi. We went from a wealthy county in WA to a wealthy county in MS. Just goes to show that money is a factor but so is priorities of the district. We put him in public school at first because we couldn't afford private school and we knew the social aspect was very important to his de…

Teacher’s either love me or hate me. I'm 100% behind teachers that do their job. Teach my kid how to use critical thinking, monitor and correct his bad behavior during the time they're responsible for him and support his learning. Do not try and teach my child what to think.

He's in the Pearson Education online K-12 program. He's 12 and already about 2 grades ahead in math. Spends 1/2 the time "in school" which leaves more time for him to pursue stuff he wants to. Coding, writing, outdoor activities with his dad. I don't have to "deprogram" (see note) him at the end of the day. It's a great option between public and private education, ~$5k per year. With better access to teachers and due to parents having to facilitate their child's education a more direct involveme…

This is a solid book. Backed by research and statistics. My son is "very gifted". I don't say this as a proud father (though I am but not because my kid is freakishly smart). I say this as the poor bastard that has to try and keep up with the weirdo. His kindergarten teacher tried to medicate the fuck out of him because he was "acting out" in class. Two reasons for the conflict. One: He was bored out of his gourd. Two: Another kid in her class with obvious developmental issues was a pain in her …

The jury can rule anyway it likes. There's at least a couple hundred ways a judge can get the verdict over-turned, invalidated or make the sentencing a joke.

Both hopefully. However, it would just financially ruin the employee. Though I doubt there's going to be a judgement against the County in any way. Whatever judge hears the case won't want to set precedent or buck his fellow judge. Our society keeps talking about "bad cops". Per capita there's far more bad judges that negatively effect a larger population of people, including LEO. Not saying we don't need reform of certain Law Enforcement Policies just that judges are not being looked at hard en…

"Nothing I do would bring justice to this situation. Nothing I do would relieve any of the pain that you caused by doing that,” Quam said before sentencing Thaler to life in prison without the possibility of parole. I can think of something that would end the pain she's going to cause the State of Minnesota for the next 3-4 decades. "Thaler had won full custody of her son just 10 days prior to the child’s death. The only reason "Holocaust Survivor" is important here is because the reporter used the term to sensationalize the article. They could easily have used "elderly" or "octogenarian".

You completely ignored that many doctors refuse to do them for childless, unmarried men in their 20's. So worse than just being ignorant by not reading the articles you've intentionally omitted facts. I never said you couldn't recieve a vasectomy. I stated (this is a paraphrase) that doctors WON'T conduct the procedure in patients that don't fit a ridiculous criteria. In our follow on waste of my fucking time I clarified my position.

"Intentionally obtuse" is a "childish" insult. I need to up my game. You may have found a doctor that will do it with your situation, many won't. Just in this thread there's anecdotal evidence that I'm right.

Or they're old enough in career to have experienced someone wanting a reversal. My wife didn't want kids the 1st ten years of our marriage. Now we have a twelve year old. Shit changes. "First, do no harm..." Hypocratic Oath.

You're right and the success rate for reversal is pretty close to zero.

Doctors will tell you "No" when it comes to a Vasectomy, if you haven't had kids. The other falsehood that's going around is that Vasectomies are "easily reversible". The success rate up to 3 years after the vasectomy is 75%, between 3 and 8 years it's 55%, up to 9 years it's 40%-45%. I think SA and Rape is reported more often in the Military. I also think that there's plenty of false reports (probably more than in Civilian jurisdictions). The Military handles it poorly. The investigation of the reports are poorly handled and the punishments are not mete out fairly or often enough. I was sexually harassed and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it. It's still not a draft. All it does is pre-screen for the actual draft. I'm well aware of the consequences of not signing up for Selective Service. Women will not be required to sign up for Selective Service anytime soon. At the end of the day neither party wants it and the women who actually support it (instead of giving lip service to it) join the Service. IF (and this is a very large "if") women were to get drafted there'd be a baby boom to rival post WWII.

Help us how? I served 21 years. In that entire time I met exactly 1 woman I would take onto an active battlefield. Other than her most of tge other women I served with were detrimental to their commands and few were a positive addition in their non-combat roles.

Selective Service is not a draft. Selective Service is a pre-screening process for the draft. The draft would be based on SSN with a cross check of the Selective Service roster for basic eligibility. ThecUSA has not had conscription (draft) since 1973.

I never said that. You're the one who wants men to die in War. You don't want to open the door to how women are treated in the Military, that argument will not go well for you. It just so happens that men are almost entirely responsible for not only building the infrastructure that you take for granted everyday they also maintain it. My wife and I are a partnership. She's awesome and has talents in subjects that I don't and vice-versa. I don't have a problem with women, I have a problem with you…

We still need a well trained, educated, capable, standing Military. It literally can't get smaller and the expenditures mostly reflect that. The smaller the Military the better equipped and trained it needs to be. The budget for sure could use more oversight to focus on effective programs instead of pet programs to benefit certain Congressional Districts but it's not going to change much. The government protects the free speech of its citizens by not allowing a person to be physically attacked or denied basic protections and services for those beliefs. Ultimately it comes down to would you want some dumb twat, from another country, with no dog in the fight that is American politics, fucking with your person? If the answer is "no", would you rather have legal recourse to make her stop immediately (by calling Law Enforcement) and put her in a position to not continue the behavior OR punch her in the face to make her stop? My comment about muscle density has to do with the ease at which a man who probably weighs only 40% more (at most) was able to easily not only remove her from his neck but control her fall and go right back to doing what he was doing without visible strain or need of recovery time.

I meant the WWII generation. AKA "The Greatest Generation" as named by Tom Brokaw in his book of the same title. You know the Generation that was drafted for a War? I mean the draft was a continuous thing from 1940-1973 in the United States. 16 years of that draft we were in active combat. If you're Canadian as your username suggests, you were standing right next to us, profiting from the same War. Pot this is kettle, you're black. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greatest_Generation

I'm not. We don't live in a small ecological niche. We live over the entire planet in any biom or environment. The only similarity we have to K Dragon's is we're our own worst predator. The K Dragon has only one predator (two if you count humans) that's its own species.

Nope. That's how you end up with potentially the Greatest Generation. You end up with McNamara Morons when Aging Hippy Boomers ignore the statistics of who was actually drafted to make yourself feel better for shitting all over the Warfighter for almost 60 years. Those fucksticks still try and perpetuate the "Too dumb to go to college" stereotype even though entrance qualifications for enlistment was higher than college entrance at the height of the surge much less now.

No. I'm saying this from a historical and experiential perspective. This has been proposed repeatedly. Every single time it's been shot down by the Legislative branch and the SCOTUS feels it has bigger issues to deal with. At the end of the day.
