I hope to god this isn't the majority of women. It's not any of the women I know. My husband is the provider in the family but I came into our relationship owning my own home, with a career and education, all kinds of things I brought to the table. I just expected him to meet me where I was, found a lot of people in the dating scene didn't have it together.

Just not work and not the gym and not in the elevator of an apartment. Those are don’t shit where you eat places as well as don’t want to be bothered/want to do my own thing/don’t like feeling watched places. Everywhere else is pretty much game. If you run into the hot girl from the gym out in public, that’s okay! Just don’t approach her after at the gym unless she initiates and if it doesn’t work out, give her a wide berth at the gym. The gym is an especially tricky place as many women don’t fe…

That exact same dread of having to see them on a regular basis and deal with any weird tension.

As a woman and gym rat, I HATE being approached at the gym even if it’s by my gym eye candy. It’s sacred ground and I just want to do my own thing. The worst thing ever is going on dates with a guy from the gym and having it not work out and then you’re forever worried they’re going to be at the gym when you are. This is a place of don’t shit where you eat.

Whoever suggests the gym as a means to getting laid is not familiar with this gym meme that is actually true It goes for women as well. I’m a girl gymbro (competitive WL) and let me tell you about how the gym wasn’t a place to pick up dudes but also outside of the gym it made me really confusing and undesirable to a lot of dudes, more than not. It’s probably a bit different for guys because being strong and jacked are desirable traits in a male but the meme still stands.

Just because you’re an introvert doesn’t mean you’re socially inept or incapable of normal conversation or interaction. It just means that you tend to prefer your own company or one on one with a single person to recharge and that social situations with more than one other person can be really draining and exhausting for you. I really hate the misconstrued idea that introverted means socially crippled or completely antisocial. I’m strongly introverted but I am a great conversationalist and lectu…

This is phenomenally disgusting, the tongue is a pretty dense structure of 19 muscles so she bit FUCKING HARD and fast. Ew

I didn’t say make NO moves, just keep them low pressure and not immediate.

As a girl (now married and monogamous) I hated the assumption that me being at a guy’s house meant sex. Sometimes it takes a few visits and hangouts of just being there and feeling comfortable in the environment and safe and respected with you to want to be engaged like that. Overall, though, being casual about it and making the person feel comfortable and absolutely not pressured is key. Just regular hangouts and snuggles and make outs without asking or trying for anything else is key. Even get…

Personally speaking, I think that “spark” is absolutely exclusive from any other advance. I’d say it’s more likely to come from a combo of physical attraction (out of your control, every woman likes something different and there’s no magical formula besides being clean and generally not presented in a sloppy way) and connection through things like vivid and animated/involved conversation that carried easily over the whole date, or really enjoying doing a joint activity together or sharing passio…

The people I was interested in and dated in my early to mid 20s are absolutely not the people I would truly have wanted long term in my life nor actually fit with my personality, save for maybe one. I didn’t come into my full true self until my late 20s to about 30, now at 33 definitely been living my best self and life for at least 4 years. Got married at age 30 and my older brother mocked me for him getting married sooner than I did. Okay guy, but his wife hates every single one of his hobbies…

Haha you would be great for my BFF who was a virgin until 27. She has a zillion similar insecurities and issues finding and staying in any relationship despite being a serious catch in all departments- looks, figure, hobbies/interests, skills in several departments. She’s honestly a serious 10 and that cute girl next door and does not realize it at all, we go out together (and I’m considered the “glamorous/pinup/sex kitten of our friends!) and she gets SO much attention but doesn’t notice or rea…

I used to date a bodybuilder, dating IS hard. Try competing with steroid-fuelled emotions on top of hanger and constant physical exhaustion. Low activity dates like going to the movies and hanging out on the beach or stargazing were a big hit. As well, if you can find a way to get in something reasonably active like hiking or canoeing where cardio can happen in an unboring way, that's awesome! Even spending time meal prepping together can be nice. The key is being as supportive as possible and k…

I know how hard it is to find someone to lift with you and actually understand what you do. Try being a girl hoping to find a guy who can handle her barbell relationship. It's much more acceptable for guys to lift, somehow coming from my end it's somewhat emasculating to a partner. Even guys involved in lifting or bodybuilding seem to feel threatened. The problem from my end comes from me not just going to the gym to be fit, but going to heavily train, under a coach, as an athlete, for the purpo…

I.. Never rambled on about how hot I was. I said it once and tried to make a disclaimer about my looks. This isn't about looks or compliments. This is about how to have good, encouraging, polite words to do something that is often uncomfortable for me to do.

I asked because I want to know how to be polite and supportive to guys that are possibly insecure around women! I want to know what to say that could encourage them to keep going, not feel like all the good girls are taken, not feel rejected, not feel that something is wrong with them. I can easily make friendly conversation but I'm a bit awkward when it comes to turning a guy down. I even get a little nervous, that makes me say stupid things! I feel like if I had a few good guidelines or set re…

I'm at that lovely age where literally all my friends except for maybe one or two are in long term committed relationships/engaged/married/with kids. I'm one of the last hold outs. I hope that it sounds genuine when I say I have a boyfriend but those words stumble so awkwardly out of mouth that I worry it doesn't. Somehow I am great at all other parts of flirting and seduction but awful at turning someone down without making it awkward.

I'm honestly not fishing for compliments, I could not be more genuine about this. That's why I tried to make a disclaimer. I truly don't want to be a cunt and want to be gentle and polite about it. I used to be cripplingly shy so I understand how much effort it takes to muster the balls to make conversation, let alone with the intent to take it somewhere. My issue is how to word it without being rude and cold but still firm, however also not shooting down their attempt. Several people have said …

It's great to know that openly encouraging them for having made the approach isn't actually belittling. I will absolutely try that!

Oh your wife is totally right, guys are overly persistent. I think that's where a lot of my concern comes from too, like, how do I make it completely clear to you I'm not interested?!

I'm glad my post seems to have come across correctly. It definitely bothers me that women toy with men the way you described, it makes the rest of us look bad and only potentially perpetuates misogyny. I am really here looking for the most tactful ways to get the point across without damages to either party and if anything lend some encouragement.

Thank you, great reply. Lots of food for thought for me here, I appreciate your thoroughness.

Are you both runners? Is she familiar with the place you want to go? If yes, great, why not give it a try and see if that could be a way for you two to casually spend time together outside of actual dates. I feel like something that's a normal routine for both of you is a great thing to have as a way to spend time without feeling like you're going out of the way to spend time. As for the first time: when doing training runs you should be able to keep up a conversation, this is a sign you're keep…

Do not kiss a girl at the gym. Don't be handsy or overly physically affectionate with a girl at the gym. Even if she if your girlfriend already, do everyone a favor, keep the pda to a minimum at the gym. When I'm at the gym I'm there to work, not be cute and make conversation and hold hands. I also feel like gym dating is just a precarious slope. Not to mention not the ideal situation to be social when you're doing your own things. Do you guys both frequent this same gym? If you don't hit it off…

Many serious runners actually follow a little rule of thumb to remind them of their pace while training: if you can keep up a conversation while running then you're at the correct pace for a training run.

You actually might be onto something about playfully commenting on having to ignore me once he knows I have a boyfriend. Good call. I'm all about keeping it lighthearted but I honestly sometimes just have no idea how to avoid the awkwardness in the moment. I think a lot of it is just a case of being stuck in the instant but having a hundred funny comebacks later on, long past.

As a female weightlifter, if you really value that as part of your life, try to find another girl who also values it. I mean this either or for friendship or romantic relationship. This is a common topic you can both share and probably easily become passionate about and that gives you a way to hang out casually and regularly- at the gym. From personal experience I can say that it's probably a better idea to shoot for friendship if it's a girl at your gym, because we face enough objectification a…

That's not a bad start. Probably a good idea to get used to being around girls in general before trying to understand one more intimately.

It's that simple. You also didn't do a bad thing by "missing a cue." Sometimes people get caught up in the moment during festivals or lack of sobriety and become bolder, wilder than their usual selves. You may actually have done something interpreted as being respectful or not at all desperate. She has a reason to think you aren't about to jump just anyone's bones, so if you do follow up with her now it looks even more like she's specially selected.

Honestly? Your youth isn't ruined. This is absolutely a deeper self esteem issue than simply your balding, but I completely understand how that could be crushing. Hell, I used to be absolutely mortified by the thickness of my thighs and jubbly bit of my inner thigh at my knees to the point I somehow thought everyone could see it and would not be attracted to me on that basis. Now I'm a weightlifter so it's mostly muscle and my thighs are even bigger but I love them more. I'm a girl who has dated…
