The laws do not. You are comparing two different things. The laws regarding your parental rights are exactly the same for men and women. If a women gives birth to a child she does not want and the father wants the baby (which can and does happen) she will also have to pay child support. That's why I personally find it pretty fucked that so many people here would happily abandon a kid. Because of this it makes a good sense that only both parents can give up their parental rights, because then the baby can be put up for adoption and then it has a chance to live in a normal family. Even if you ignore that, I don't really agree with your argument. You are essentially saying that man should not be forced to pay child support because then more woman would have an abortion, which would be good for society. Abortion is very different from giving up your parental rights. If the baby is aborted then there is no baby anymore. If you give up your parental rights then there is still a baby. Therefore, it makes a good sense that this is only allowed in specific cases. It's also not like the women have always a choice. The reason why only the women decides whether to get an abortion is because it's her body. It also makes sense that you need both parents consent to put the baby up for adoption. How else it would work? If both parents put the baby up for adoption, the baby can get adopted by a different family.
