A hundred years ago, you dated the men in your village. Now you date men from everywhere

Does the number of people required for the continuation of the species matter? What argument are you making here? I'm not sure how this addresses any of the points I made about procreation. I say we need sex for procreation, you respond with an extreme biological technicality that we don't need to have sex to procreate? Now, in order to feel happy? Feel normal? Sure, sex might be crucial to those things. But "living a typical Canadian life" is hardly a realistic "basic need" as evidenced by all …
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/25 11:59 PM

We might be dancing around the terms we're using a bit. I'm thinking of needs in terms of both individual and societal needs. Need as a "die without" might be were we diverge. I'm thinking of needs as things that people have, consume or experience that would be required for what I think of as a "typical" or "standard" life in my country in the current year. For lack of a better term what do people need to have a "normal" life. But I also think of needs at the societal level, what do we need as a…

This is a great example to the contrary. If you don't own a car, the price of gas affects you because the things you buy are transported by gas, your uber uses gas. You will always use gas, but if you don't have a car, the immediate cost is less noticeable. Sex, like gas, is a basic human need. Just because you aren't interested in sex at a given moment, doesn't mean it isn't an inherent biological imperative.

I look at them almost the same, unless we are talking about close social circles and not clubs, etc. I have a hard time reconciling an approach maybe being unwanted with the fact that some might actually want it. I'm meant to risk harassing a stranger on the off chance that she'll appreciate it?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/25 05:18 PM

Are we pretending the world didn't come out and demonize male sexuality? Told us all to stop approaching women in public? Even on a person al level, all of my freidns, male and female, have said to stick to the apps to avoid unwanted attention.

First, no one on reddit is going keep me accountable for anything, I don't owe internet strangers a goddmaned thing. Second, I don't think you are looking for a good faith debate. There's nothing I can say to support my argument that won't be ignored. What you're doing is strawmanning my argument and now that's I've called you out on it, you're looking to make ad hominem attacks. This will. Be my last response. I'll close by suggesting that you may have more productive arguments in the future if…

You can belittle me all you want. You're the one who posted to the sub. I'm trying to describe the ways in which your description of reality is incompatible with my lived experience. Keep strawmanning what I say if it makes you feel better, but why post to a debate sub if you're going to be deliberately difficult? I'm sorry you're so hateful. I wish you more joy in your life.

I think this is the core issue. I'm approaching woman constantly in person, and I never, ever got called a creep. When I approached as a young man, I was never called a creep by any of the women I encountered. But then there was a significant shift in what is considered okay in dating. Everyone I trusted said the same thing, that what I was doing was harassment and it needed to stop. I'll insist on this, I don't think that approaching carefully a woman by herself to talk a bit will make you thin…

The article makes no distinction about what we're talking about, makes assumptions that do not apply. The snip you shared could be a conversation between any random people. The problem is with introducing sexuality into an encounter. I'm not coming across women who I repeatedly encounter in my day to day life. Everyone is a stranger, there is no opportunity to get to know someone first. If you are approaching with desire, you are flirting, which is of a sexual nature, which is not welcomed from …

Flirting, at its most basic, is playfully showing you are romantically attracted to someone. Litterally the first line in the page you linked. What is romantic attraction if not sexual?

I don't know if we are talking about the same thing. There's a disconnect between us. I agree, don't say sexual things to strangers on the street, it's a good way to accidentally harass someone. Flirting is saying something sexual. Therefore, don't flirt with strangers on the street. You wait until you are dating and have a sexual dynamic. "Waiting" literally is how you become single at 35. If you mean, let a sexual dynamic grow naturally, how does this happen with a stranger exactly? How do you…

You don’t compliment them in a sexual fashion until a sexual relationship has been established. How do you do this with a stranger on the street? Hope that she is into it? Seems like I'm pinning a lot on "hope" that she is receptive, otherwise again, it's harassment.

I believe you believe that the things you are suggesting are normal and don't rise to the level of creepiness. But your statements don't align with my reality/lived experience. it always gotta start with day-to-day talk. Whether you start with day-to-day conversation or not, you need to move to something flirty/sexual. It doesn't matter when the flirting comes in, there's no way to know if she will welcome the advance or not. Based on my experience and the advice I've been given, it's better to …

Since when is starting a conversation with a stranger harrassment? But it's not just starting a conversation with a stranger, it's hitting on a stranger. I think there is a meaningful difference between saying hello and flirting/picking up. The first is pleasant day-to-day minutia, the second is a imposition with the hope that she'll be receptive. Just don't take OLD stats in real life, it does not reflect reality at all I mean sure, but there's some semblance of real life. It's dealing with rea…
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/25 02:08 PM

probably she will think it's annoying and will reject you. Doesn't this make it harassment? If you approach and it's unwanted attention, you just harassed that woman. I have to approach (harass) women until I find one that appreciates it? If you take my OLD stats and apply them to irl, I'd have to approach over 800 women before getting a date. But let's assume OLD is one tenth as effective as real life, I would need to harass 80 women until Iet one that wasn't offended that I imposed upon her. I…

I don't understand how this isn't harassment. This isn't just saying hello or making casual conversation. This is approaching with sexual interest, which is harassment, which is bad. I feel like we are talking about two different things. Women I know and women I don't know have all told me to stop approaching women I don't know, it's an imposition of my needs onto a stranger who at best won't appreciate the advance, at worst will go for her mace. I don't understand how you go from "Hi" to "give …

I know we are talking hypotheticals, but I'm not sure how this scenario translates to real life. Let's say there's a woman I've never talked to who goes to a place a frequent. I'm attracted and want to approach. I wait, see her at the place a dozens times over a month or two. There's no way of knowing if she has taken notice of me in return. From her perspective, I'm just another random man coming to hit on her. I don't understand how seeing her in public more than once or twice makes us any les…
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/25 01:22 PM

It's not the fear of being called a creep, being posted online, etc. It's actually doing something creepy that wasn't intended to be. Approaching doesn't risk creepiness, it is creepy. Women see strange men as dangerous. Strange men approaching them forces a woman into a situation with a potentially dangerous person. Why would I want to make a woman I am interested in uncomfortable right off the start by placing that potential burden on her?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/25 12:51 PM

Aren't you just describing strangers?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/25 12:48 PM

Woke once meant aware of the systems that oppress us. Years of misrepresentation and disingenuous straw manning has left us where we are today. Can't let the plebs have language to describe their oppression.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/25 12:46 PM

You decline to describe to me a situation where approaching a stranger with sexual intent would not be considered creepy or harassment, which is the point in trying to make. You know that there's some men who you wouldn't want talking to you under any circumstances, and if they did, it would be harassment. Just debate honestly.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/25 11:59 AM

Practically, yes I agree. In reality, add in the element of sexual desire, and it stops being "small talk" and comes harassment. No one is talking about just saying hi. I feel like you are intentionally ignoring the most important factor here

What's the meaningful difference between walking down the street and any other situation where your approaching a stranger in public?

It's not the only example of articles that told men to stop doing this sort of thing.

I used to approach women when I was young. Eventually, my female friends told me to stop. Articles were published that told me to stop. The ran an advertisement demonizing approaching women you don't know. They called it harassment and sexual assault, now I don't approach
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/25 01:10 AM

equating all approaches no matter the context with harassment just dilutes the very real issue of sexual harassment that women have been speaking out about I couldn't agree more.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/25 12:53 AM
1

And there's no safe way to know how any approach will be taken until its done. There's enough women who have told me that they think of strange men as being danngerous until proven otherwise. So why would I submit a strange woman to that burden, not knowing how heavy that burden will be for her?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/25 12:29 AM

You say it's not harassment to "say hi" We both know that we aren't talking about a casual greeting. It's a dating debate sub, this conversation is about dating, specifically approaching strange women, which is now nearly universally considered creepy and harassment.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/25 09:24 PM

You can pretend that we're just talking about small talk if you want, go ahead and have a completely different conversation if it makes you feel better.

No one is talking about just saying "hello" to strangers in passing. We're talking about approaching women to flirt, hit on or express interest in them, in order to date them. Saying hi to strangers isn't creepy, I agree, if you keep on walking and don't bother them. But that's not what we are taking about. It's saying hello in the context of flirting with strangers, which has been hammered into many men over the last decade as being a form of harassment. Don't wiggle out of your bad takes by mi…

Oh no, allow me. women likely don’t want commentary about them from complete strangers like you and me. That’s when comments go from compliments to harassment. To help you navigate this social odyssey of interacting with women, let’s take a little quiz together. Question #1: Do you know this woman? Question #2: Does this woman know you? Question #3: If you know each other, has this woman directly asked you for an opinion about what she looks like or what she’s doing? If you answered “no” to any …

You’ve been arguing as if you don’t believe men prefer the color blue more than women. I've been arguing that blanket statements are useless when talking about populations that include literally half of all people. “Most guys don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable” It’s honestly crazy to say this at a time that most men voted to put a rapist in the White House. I response to a post lamenting the world OP has described, you choose to belittle me as a group. I assume you mean they don't deserve s…

You don't understand. You seem to be saying men and women do everything exactly the same? I'm saying that the groups described by the words "men" and "women" are too large for most blanket statements to be true or useful. Saying shit like, men don't deserve sympathy because Trump was made president by men is a useless, meaningless statement. It doesn't matter that some men voted for him, that fact says nothing about what it means to be a man, or what masculinity is. If I show you data that men l…

Sex, meaning the genitals of a person. Comfortably with making other uncomfortable is not an attribute I would apply based on the sex of the person in question. Sex=/= intercourse here. Ex men like the color blue more than women not bc of biology but bc they are socialized to think of it as a boy color. I don't think this is a reasonable assumption either. There may be a stereotype of blue being "boy" colour, but that has nothing to do with how many people, or which sex they are, actually like t…
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/25 07:07 PM

Do you think men are generally more comfortable making others uncomfortable than women are? No, I don't think this is a characteristic attributable to sex. Do you think that making people uncomfortable is even celebrated in our cultural conception of what a “masculine” man is? (Eg: “fuck your feelings”, toilet humor, “facts over feelings”, being better negotiators per the pay gap, intimidation/domination, heckling, etc) I don't recognize what you're saying as things society has labeled as "mascu…

"Most men are fascist" is a stones toss from "All men are fascist" Pretty long way away from victimhood, not wanting to be associated with a hateful cult.

If I'm being completely honest with myself, the one major thing that people throw around that I don't do is lift. I lifted during my twenties. It was waaay more work than it was worth, and this is after a few years. Little payoff for my physique, and I noticed zero change in my relationships with women. I still work out/exercise, I just don't lift anymore. If there's someone with an answer I haven't heard yet, I'd love to hear it.

I approached women as a young man (2012). Usually I would face rejection, I got used to it. I started talking to female friends to ask for their advice. Every single woman I trusted to talk to about this told me to stop approaching in public. Had I approached women while they were working? Yes, I fact it was the most successful place to approach in my experience. I asked my male friends, they told me to stick to the apps because there is no room for misunderstanding or accidental harassment. Eve…
/r/PurplePillDebate17/07/25 06:03 PM

Oh I see. What about the men who do all this shit and don't get any attention? We don't exist to you? You don't see us? What's the expectation? I have a dozen friends, I play cards with a mixed gender group monthly, I take classes. I've never been a creep, I'm too sensitive to other people comfort to allow myself to be that way. I have an excellent career, education, savings, etc. I did everything they told me to do.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/07/25 04:52 PM

What else is there? Everyone said to stop approaching women irl. They even had a commercial for it. They said a man's sexuality is his own problem, no one owes you anything, blah blah blah.

Is there anything more you'd like to say? I cycle everywhere, almost everyday during the summer. I've developed my skiing skills late in my life, I'm better than I've ever been. AND I play video games and smoke weed. I've learned, practiced and embraced new hobbies. Now what?

Either or both, at my age, most people are married/settled. They either don't remember or don't care what they had to do to find a partner. Asking for advice, as in specific actions I can take to find a partner are shallow at best, repulsive at worst. Any single friends I have had are not looking to share connections with their single friends, they are trying to date them themselves. When I ask for advice, they push me away. based on my personal experiences, I don't feel having a girlfriend/wife adds enough to my life and I'm happier alone I don't think this is what juice/squeeze means. That's the question I'm asking, what changes. Specifically what should I be doing? The advice I see here is useless, general and most of the time, offensive. I have the education, the job, the personality, the looks/style. Instead of women I could date, I only have a specific type of woman shown interest, the type of woman where I would rather be alone than be with.

The one adopts or has no children. If I am the "one" here, then the statement would change to,y family line is ending because the woman I love is more important than silly things like family lineage. But now I have neither.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/25 01:07 PM

Having to choose between working to filter through 100 matches a month, and getting a match a week, I'd pick the work of filtering. My family line is going to end with me because I can't find a wife. I'd rather have the chore of finding a partner, than the chore of coping with a life half-lived. How is this even a comparison?
