My brother's g/f does this "training" nonsense. I can say without reservation, that every time she makes the joke, she visibly loses points in the eyes of all men in the room. I think the problem is, for it to be a joke, it needs a grain of truth and some irony. When it's 100% true, that's not a joke. It's just stating how you feel.

I sure do not believe in alimony. Not as-is. There's an understanding which should be accommodated for though. A woman (or man) may have a living arrangement that makes immediately entering the workforce impractical, or they may have sacrificed education or other relevant skill sets for the practical arrangements of this particular marriage. So.. alimony should exist.. in a select set of cases, but it should be a "get back on your feet" fund. It should never be a lifetime benefit. That is insane…

I've never understood religious pandering. My culture says that the best way to settle differences is to sack your opponents village, take their stuff and leave their bones to bleach in the sun, as a warning to others, and because if we see those bones lying about, we know that no one worth pillaging has moved in recently. I see no difference here between taking his ring, and stripping a soldier of his medal of honor. Different fields, same symbolism. This is the system saying "That thing you did?
