I'm currently seeing a therapist about my depression, I'm pretty sure even if I met a couple of good friends the depression would almost completely disappear. It's possible that will help but it might not. If you get these friends that you can hang out with that will make you happy then your happiness is depended on them, and once they leave you are back to square one.
