If someone doesn't want to do something then they don't have to do it.

Do you have a research paper on this particular subject that I may look at to be more versed in it
/r/MensRights24/10/23 05:07 PM

Exactly. Let's instead praise people (woman or man) who are determined enough to go into such fields as they are no easy task.

Yeah but I see no problem in opening opportunities that either gender wouldn't typically go in. At the end of day it's a persons choice what field they go in but opening the world to various opportunities to underrepresented groups helps broaden their spectrum of fields they might potentially find interest in. Like me for example thanks to the Girls Who Code program I've discovered my love for coding/computer science and am specifically going into game development. And I'm not the only one that …

Thanks I appreciate this. I'm all about respectable discussions and mutual understandings whether I'm a feminist or not

Only further research and time will tell. But for now it really does seem far fetched until further concrete evidence is provided

What the university did just seems patronizing ngl. There are a bunch of programs that encourage people especially college graduates to get into teaching although I'm not sure if its gender specific. But theres also that Big brother program I believe my university has where college men have the opportunity to mentor teenage boys

What about the female unborn child. Doesn't seem like theres any study that proves what you've just said so I don't think it makes sense to say something that we are not even certain about until we are approached with more research

I wouldn't have gotten into stem and figured out my passion for computer science if not for such programs as they offered me a world of possibilities and options. I definitely think encouraging more men into these fields would also be great especially for elementary school teachers since it would be nice for younger boys to have that male role model to look up to like my brother had when he was in elementary school. At the end of day I'm all for encouraging people to explore different fields the…

Everyone wasn't happy. Let's not romanticize the patriarchy. That's just dumb

If not for feminism, there would be a lot of things now women wouldn't be able to do

There's a difference between forcing women and encouraging them/opening a world of different options to them. That's what such programs and scholarships do

If you make a joke that someone dislikes and makes them uncomfortable would you keep on saying it? The way you described the flirting part seems like you're respecting the person's boundaries by leaving them alone once you notice they are not interested. The drink and the coworker one doesn't seem to be harassment until you continue to press the person some more when they are obviously not interested in the drink or talking I don't think the sign intended to demonize tame/unthreatening behavior.…

I do agree that more focus should be on the violation of women's rights in underdeveloped countries but we also should not undermine women's experiences in developed countries as well

I don't mind helping you understand my point of view if you don't understand, just let me know. But if you don't want to have a mutual understanding then that's fine. I'm not going to pry or push. As it's pointless to help someone that doesn't want to be helped

Right now we are talking about why there are more programs encouraging women into male dominated fields and that's the case because women are underrepresented in those STEM fields. And providing scholarships and programs helps to bridge that gap. The same should also be done for men in fields that are typically dominated by women.

So then what's the point of having a reasonable conversation if we can't help understand each other's points. 🤔

I don't really get your point. Can you explain more clearly?

Like what for example? We also have to consider women in underdeveloped countries.

I mean it makes sense why, to encourage more women into those fields.

I just realized the sign said unwanted staring not glancing. There's a difference

I mean obviously a quick glance isn't a problem but when someone constantly stares at you in a weird/creepy manner that's quite uncomfortable whether youre a woman or man. Maybe sign was too vague and I see what you're saying but I think their ultimate message is conveyed

Lol facts. It's crazy how guys don't like it when women say all guys are the same yet OP is doing the same to the opposite gender

False. Not all women
/r/MensRights23/10/23 10:44 PM

Now you're generalizing women. Women are not a hive mind. They all think differently and have different preferences in their partners. Some women may like the male that you're describing but at least most of the women I've interacted with are not like that. Just be nice and respectful simple
/r/MensRights23/10/23 10:42 PM
-1

And OP is forgetting that the sign said "unwanted". Constantly giving someone attention and constantly asking someone's number that doesn't want it is very creepy.💀 Let's just strive to respect peoples boundaries both women and men. 🙏

If you approach a woman or man romantically and they don't appreciate your advances move away and leave them alone. Simple. If you continue to keep on approaching them when they said they don't want anything to do with you romantically then yes that would be considered harassment. Doesn't matter what gender they are. If they appreciate your advances then awesome, we have a situation with two consenting adults. Not a problem. I really don't see how hard it is for people to get it.
/r/MensRights23/10/23 10:30 PM

Doing it in a creepy way when the woman clearly doesn't appreciate your advancements would be considered sexual harassment. Not that hard tbh

Just be yourself at the end of the day. Don't let men and even women dictate how you live your life. The right guy will love your confidence and will love you for you. Wish you the best
