Yep, my communication of expectations + demands sucked ass. The employee had the talent, he needed me to convey the vision. That's on me.

OYS #37 Today marks five weeks since my ACL + MCL tears + tibial fracture. I'm still very much in a knee brace and crutches. Prehab is going extremely well - and Orthopod + PT conferred, and cleared me to resume chinups + benches only - so I am doing that with gusto. A month without lifting has stolen my gainz, y'all. They're both really happy with my PT progress and have moved my surgery up 3 weeks - from November 13 up to October 23. I was explaining my situation to one of my staff, and he sai…

Eh. I'm not wired to "enjoy" most things. I generally dislike or tolerate most everything. And my own wiring is very "work-not-play" oriented. Call it hard-wired protestant work ethic or whatever. I legitimately don't enjoy watching TV, or reading books, or playing video games, or hunting/fishing/shooting or following sports. So, I work on 3 nonprofits (usually providing legislative/political or financial guidance). I work on maintaining my home and my rental property. I work on maintaining the …

I derive pleasure + meaning + accomplishment from starting off every day with a big-ass TODO list and nuking it from orbit. Wife's puttering along just fine with me being unable to do much.

OYS #36 Today marks four weeks since my ACL + MCL tears + tibial fracture. Through aggressive PT, I've recovered 132 degrees (of 135) of knee flexion, and my total knee circumference is about 105% of normal (meaning most of the swelling has abated). Yesterday, PT cleared me to do the bench - and lightly weighted box squats and partial deadlifts. I'll start those after I'm done typing this out. My orthopod originally set my surgery for November 13 (which is still 6.5 weeks away). I'll see him thi…

OYS #35 On September 1, I was at BJJ. Finished up my first roll of the night with one of my favorite training partners, and actually had the better of him about 75% of the time. He's certainly younger, stronger, and fitter than me, but I'll be damned if I'm not getting better at this. Feel like a million bucks - this is why the "levels of dread" shit talks about practicing martial arts. For my second roll, I went up against a guy who was about 3-4 inches taller than me, and had 100 lbs on me. He…

My read of MitW's view is that AAT is descriptive, and MRP is prescriptive. AAT explains why some relationships are dogshit, MRP provides the tools to fix the man (which may or may not fix the relationship).

Clearly ... and you are anxious-preoccupied. I took the little online test from Sepean's link, and yeah, I'm juuust right on the preoccupied side of the secure/preoccupied boundary. That number has definitely drifted quite a bit over time. It's a different framework, but very often has similar suggestions, such as AAT's backing off from the chase when avoidants withdraw matching MRP's withdrawing attention after rejection. I'm going to spend some time chewing on all of this. It feels like I've f…

I appreciate you bringing AAT into this. From a cursory reading here, it looks like the wife's attachment style would be cleanly classified as "dismissive avoidant" - which would also explain her tendency to want nothing to do with me or the kids. Is there an MRP guide on this besides "lawyer up and prepare for divorce"? this seems tangential, and possibly valuable. And, yes, I've been a dancing monkey for ages. And, I'm very slowly extinguishing some of my monkey behaviors (choreplay being a bi…

Started seeing hints of this coming in July of 2019, and each passing month gets us closer to the disaster. In retrospect, I should have been documenting this all for some bestseller on "how not to run a consulting business". I've already had sitdowns with all of the managers who work for me, and have told them that the bad shit is coming, I just don't know when - and that they could list me as a reference and I'd give them all sterling recommendations. I was offended because, at the end of an 11-hour shift, she tells me she's going to extend it to 12 hours. Do I just need to go nuclear and say some shit like: "I've had these kids all day - they're your responsibility now - and don't you dare fucking run off?"

1

So - help me out for a sec: I didn't actually have plans - but I should just say that I did, and then disappear for an hour and a half or so? Is that the play? Just to force myself to be gone during "regular home hours" so as to force her to take some role in the household?
/r/MarriedRedPill24/03/20 04:07 PM

That thought was very off the cuff. Nah - she's legitimately too straight-laced + boring I asked you a month and a half ago what value she brings. You didn't really have an answer besides she's a body that can help with the kids once in awhile. I could enumerate them all (she puts a lot of money in the kids' college savings, does grocery + school clothes shopping, cooks 4-5 meals a week, keeps bathrooms clean, ensures homework is done, attends school presentations). So - help me out - what is my play in this particular situation?
/r/MarriedRedPill24/03/20 02:50 PM
2

Were this 10-15 years ago, I may have said: "yeah, sure, I'd buy that". I just don't see it now. She's just ... sort of a perfect office worker - anxious, fastidious, hypercritical, workaholic, dull. Needs a highly controlled, fixed, regular environment. She could tell you how much PTO she's got accrued at this very second (same for vacation + sick time, as well).
/r/MarriedRedPill24/03/20 02:48 PM
2

At its core, it's that she has zero respect for me, my labor, or my time. I mulled over saying: "Fuck no, you don't get to go for that walk - I've been here with these kids for all fucking day - you take care of them." But, I'm sure I'd end up sounding like a whiny bitch if I did.
/r/MarriedRedPill24/03/20 02:38 PM

The statement was more rhetorical - I don't have the skills to properly navigate these situations - in which she does egregious shit and I have no clever retort that magically puts her in her place.

Appreciate this, and your comment just led me to this (which I hadn't seen before) - and the entire post probably describes me entirely too well. Yep. I'm a career beta, built around pleasing others (parents, community, job, wife) - and have legitimately no idea what my personal goals are (and I've probably misread the concept of 'frame' a huge number of times). It's " expect that your wife's default position will be to continue to find you unattractive irrespective of whatever you do." And that expecting or hoping for any positive outcome in your sex life is a covert contract.

So, in other words: nothing this sub tells you to do will fix your sex life, but do it anyway.

I clearly stated that I understand that nothing has fucking worked, which is why I wrote: in order to get on a proper footing in this relationship - I'm going to have to be fitter, more confident, more physically attractive, and have an order of magnitude more game than I had when I lured her in the first place. And what /u/Rpeed and you are both saying is: "don't do that either, that's also a covert contract"

Yes, doing something and expecting some behavior in return without prior agreement. So, instead of "clean the house because you think you'll get laid, it's clean the house because it's dirty" So, reading between the lines, what you're telling me is: Although this sub says be attractive, don't be unattractive, lift, STFU -- you really can't and shouldn't expect any of that to improve your sex life - because that is a covert contract

Yes, of course. Because she is not attracted to me, and has let me know this hundreds of times over a decade and a half. Mind if I derail for a bit? I appreciate the effort you're putting into all of this.... Married 2005 - I was a fat sack of shit with bad posture, a bad haircut, and a dead-end job. Within 2 months of being married, the sex dried up to a trickle. Lost 20 lbs Increased my salary by 40k No improvement in sex life Summer 2014 - I figured out that she wasn't attracted to me. Read M…

So what value is she bringing? Eh, gets groceries, picks up the kids from dance and BJJ, really can clean a bathroom. Last time I posted that I had made some progress leveraging date nights (increasing feelz, etc) to get laid more. Emphasis mine. Covert contract in writing. Ehh - I suppose I was less thinking "contract" (like it's owed to me), and more "formula" (like, I know that this particular set of behaviors will get me laid). But, you may be right. The last time I got burned bad by this (l…

Let's try like this: I got here a little over a year ago, recognized that a large number of the staff were duds and that service delivery and sales process sucked. I stepped in, started taking over all new clients and started hiring my own staff (mainly interns + junior-level people + some mid-level managers) to execute these projects. For the older staff (who were largely incompetent and/or assholes), I put them on lower-value maintenance work and 'special projects' where they'd not interfere w…

Considering that: My inspection of their work is that it's shoddy Their PMs view their work as shoddy The clients view their work as shoddy Former employees view their work as shoddy Junior staff view their work as shoddy Interns are afraid to accept offers because they're afraid they'll end up like them I'd say it's probably A.

Anyone other than this "visionary" you can turn to for some culpability? Nope - and I suspect that's by design. Your boss is treating her company like her personal slush fund. This is correct and it became obvious to me a few months in. She largely runs the firm as an expensive vanity project. Repeated attempts to hire her incompetent and toxic friends (I've had 2 project managers quit over one particular friend) Guaranteeing income to an entire team who haven't done an hour of billable work in …

CEO is the owner, there's no board. i see a common theme throughout your post. your entirely too willing to put up with way too much bullshit. put yourself first and foremost bro, in all things. Convinced myself a long ass time ago that "being a man meant eating shit". Got a lot of deprogramming to do there - probably the biggest single dragon I'll need to slay.

Don't know about you, but I have way too much self respect to suck shit at a place where I'm being set up to fail. Finally hit the 1 year mark at a C-level position, this gives me a lot of latitude going forward - but I still wanted 2-3 years at this level under my belt before I began looking. Writing's on the wall, though. The average job search for the average person takes about 6 months max. I agree, and it's never taken me more than 3 months to find a position. The next leap I make, I want t…

Do the work that was written in the books you read .Take out a pen and paper and write a detailed MAP. Noted. Why September, Why not now? Storing a ton of boxes and furniture (a fuckload, tbh) for a friend in my home office/workout space while they are in the process of selling their house/moving. It will all cleared out in late July/early August, and I'll have the space. Yes, I should have made them get a rental unit. I won't make the mistake again. It's a matter of space not money. Holding a lot (a fuckload, like 200 square feet) of furniture in my home office/workout space for a friend who is moving to a new place/showing their house. They're moving in July. Giving them one month to clear their shit out after they move (else it all goes to the street). And then I buy the rack and bar. Good idea on the junior bar, I like it. Having fucking touched r/DeadBedrooms in 8 months. That shit is poison.
