This sounds exactly like the UK. They come after people for things they say on Twitter, and recently London officials threatened to go after non-UK citizens for it. Save a life, bin the knife? Whole place is like this. Top to bottom.

What I meant by "and women are playing them" is: "so they're not playing the shovel ware candy crush stuff, they're actually playing these good mobile games?" I was vague and didn't mean to be. That's what I'm having serious doubts about. Zero goal posts being moved. Let me be very specific with my claim: "I think women are largely playing games found on the Play and App store, and I regard those games as being of a fundamentally different nature than games released on console and PC." You like …

And women are playing them? Regardless, most mobile gaming is still trash. I'd need some serious receipts that's it's actually approaching the quality of traditional gaming beyond a handful of anecdotes and ports from old classics

There was a lawyer on Reddit who remarked that he blamed that moment of judicial activism for kicking off a big part of the political arms race in the courts. Effectively disillusioning half the US population in the judicial system, and learning how the "rules" of this game were played. He thought it was sad it's come to this.

This. That's the real issue, it was an objectively bad ruling. It created a ticking time bomb. I don't begrudge SCOTUS for axing it. Now it's time for Congress to step up and do it's job. Sucks it has to be now to deal with it. But here we are.

Gun laws do basically nothing, agreed. Mass shootings.. thats a can of worms. No universal definition, cherry picking and so on. And none of that addresses the fact that these events are symptoms of something wrong. Instead of addressing problems we're going after guns.

The military is not a business. That being said, the US military is the only thing protecting the entire global trade system. The world's largest blue water navy protects all those shipping routes. Among many other things. Of course, the military does sell weapons. So there's that too in terms of revenue.

Not even remotely. Pass. Women are free to figure out a way to fund it themselves without begging the tax payer or men. Then again, I'd also cull most scholarships at large and especially all sports scholarships sex be damned. But that's just me.
/r/MensRights01/12/22 04:33 AM

Nothing in this post constitutes a compelling reason. Women want to play sports? Pay for it. Like with everything else in life that women want. Pay for it themselves. Absolutely makes no difference to me how "fair" aspiring female athletes think this line of reasoning is. Nothing in life is free, and nobody owes you their money. Edit: and women earn most of scholarship money, so really that argument is equally farcical. More handouts
/r/MensRights01/12/22 04:30 AM
7

Lot of interesting assumptions there. Regardless, I don't really understand why the female sport should be subsidized. Sink or swim on its own merits. And female athletes earn less because they're inferior in athletic ability. It's not some injustice that they're paid less.
/r/MensRights01/12/22 04:26 AM
10

No. They're just saying they're worse athletes than men, and this irreducible biological fact explains why men's sports actually make a ton of money. Like with most other things in Western life, men are subsidizing women in the case of soccer by sharing winnings.

You're actually appealing to gold medalists to make your argument? Male and female do not have an equal ratio of muscle mass and bone density. Female body weight relative to men is a higher proportion of fat. Most modern militaries refuse to put women on the front line of combat. Look at the IDF as a very interesting example

" But in one way, the sex difference is stark: Men are physically stronger than women, on average. A study in the Journal of Applied Physiology found that men had an average of 26 lbs. (12 kilograms) more skeletal muscle mass than women. Women also exhibited about 40 percent less upper-body strength and 33 percent less lower-body strength, on average, the study found. This is super reductionist. In a combat situation you're not just shooting, you're moving too and holding gear. This is a ton of extra weight that just by virtue of existing on your person drains you. It's often 80lbs or more. Consider this in proportion to overall body weight, and then factor in the compositional differences in mass between the sexes etc. You keep talking about "bazookas". The modern equivalent is a Javelin and just that weapon system by itself weights over 50lbs. No body armor…

View sex in terms of supply and demand, producers and consumers. It's an economy. The producers will always circle the wagons, when it suits them vis a vis outsiders (non-women). They'll then resort to bitter competition and trying to degrade the status/reputation of their fellow producers afterwards like the solidarity never happened.

It isn't a cop thing. Humans in general form "in-groups" and "out-groups" and generate "in-group" bias. We should always have expected this behavior and installed safeguards to ward against it. But we didn't, and those we did eroded with time. In many cases for ostensibly good reasons.

In the legal system, possibly worldwide but certainly in the West, women are not held to be equal moral agents. They're not responsible for their actions, they are always protected. For all our moral angst over the past and attempts to 'liberate' women, this hasn't changed and no one wants it to. Not feminists and not their conservative adversaries. Though they may couch it in different arguments, both seek to keep women as being treated like children. It's just that feminists want more privileg…

For one, victimhood sells. People buy in to that because it provides an explanation which is easy to accept for their failures (real or imagined). For another, we've spent millions of years as a species protecting and valuing females. Isn't that what I just said? A gag order for a defendant in a high profile ongoing trial, is entirely different to a judge demanding that a guy not criticize her shitty behavior as part of his bond.
/r/MensRights08/09/19 02:17 PM

That isn't the same. A gag order addresses the fact that certain information can't be talked about due to the integrity of an ongoing trial. Him being forbidden from criticizing her as a condition for his bond is a pretty different matter.

We make our heroes; they're the invention of the people who venerate them. It's just another idol to pray at, a symbol of hope and pride. A monument to gather around with the fellow faithful. Just made of tissue and bone, not brick and stone. It keeps the night from creeping in on our thoughts. The plight of any extremely intelligent, self aware, species I imagine. If recent experience is anything to go by, or even most experience, stats don't make people give a shit. You need to make them feel something, it's the only way to trigger action. The empathy gap is bridged the moment they themselves begin to feel something. I honestly don't think people are wired to care much about men, at least relative to women. So rational conversations are meaningless and emotional appeals that much more difficult.

Yes, it is ludicrous. Because our entire arrangement right now is untenable, it can never work. So instead of wasting my time trying to put out the fire, and letting it slowly burn over decades, I'm going to throw accelerant on it. I'll make it burn fast and hot. People paid lip service to equality, and boy do I aim to give it to them. Force women into the draft and restrict their right to vote behind it. I don't give a shit, it's my money. It's honestly that simple. Either we're all equals, or we aren't. It's also that simple. You don't seem to understand the stress and pain of shelling out your hard earned money for 18 years for a kid you might not have wanted, but had no say, with the mom calling all the shots (and family courts overwhelmingly side with the woman). Why? Because, again in your view, the woman is too weak to cope with the consequences of her choice to have sex. "Be my wage slave…

You either have freedom of choice, and corresponding consequences, or you don't. Women are not children, they are not inferior moral agents. If the woman wants sex and the man wants sex- they have sex. If she gets pregnant it's completely up to her what to do with the child. Abortion, adoption, etc. Her body and so on. But the man shouldn't be on the hook for it. Your line about his sperm made the baby is asinine. Things don't "just happen" to women, they are responsible individuals. Her egg and…

The point some of the professionals bring up is that, good or bad, men hurt because they still are held to traditional male virtues but also vilified for it by modern society. They've been abandoned, and this is a blindspot for the medical community. Recognizing that men are being ignored, hurting, and their profession doesn't have the tools to help is an important step. I think we've bent over backwards for accusers in these sorts of rape cases. In this country if someone is accused if rape their picture and name is plastered everywhere even before the trial. The accuser, even if the case fails or it comes out that they lied? Never. A rape accusation destroys people outside of the court system, regardless of the trial outcome. Additionally, for politically motivated reasons, the state will do anything in it's power to continue the delusion. An example of this i…

Several states, like Kansas, have laws which flip the bird to the NFA and argue that since the suppressors are made and bought entirely within their borders the federal government laws don't apply (interstate commerce). Mankind's approach to handling women seems, historically, to treat them as children. There are always exception to the rule, but it seems endemic. And it isn't just the men doing this. We all reason, but we have preconceived notions and form snap judgments. Emotional reactions (intuition). It's a heuristic I think. Haidt notes that there are individuals with damage to parts of their brain, where they cannot form emotional reactions. Otherwise their mental faculties are intact. They are incapable of decision making because sittin…

I'd encourage you to read the literature on it. I'm sorry to say you're scientifically mistaken. For example, you do not change someone's mind by appealing to reason. You must first change how they feel. I'd recommend reading Righteous Mind, covers alot of this. Haidt went so far as to agree with the general assertion by Hume that "reason is a slave to the passions". In the great debate about how humans reason, and what the relationship is between our aspects Hume won. Not Jefferson or the Greek…

Not true, actually. Human beings scientifically feel before thinking. Ergo, supposing that human beings and society at large should 'act rationally' is completely counter to reality. Ad Hoc reasoning, and largely for purposes of self justification to external parties, is what humans do.

I'm not saying there's anything to be done about it or that he should've had foreknowledge and just let her die. I'm remarking that in the present, now, my assessment is that he would have been better off in every way if he'd let her die. Which is unbelievable at first blush, but given she left him, how he is now, and people talking about "the limits of love" that's how the coin lands. Semantics. I am not saying there is necessarily an intelligence guiding evolution, or some sort of conscious end goal. Just that 'survival of the fittest' means that those best capable of survival are the ones which tend to reproduce. Adapt or die. As an undeniable trend over time. In that sense, the ultimate 'purpose' of an organism is to survive. Humanity didn't become the apex species of earth through weakness and horrible genetic shortcomings. Of course, these things are never a straight lin…

The wind may move them about, perhaps new threads are spun, but you're still set in the web. We think ourselves free, because we don't have the vantage point necessary to see the entire situation and it's layout over time. I would say in ge…

Should have let her die is ultimately my takeaway. He got nothing out of the exchange. His decision was unwise in retrospect. Right, though I think you may be playing this up a bit. Regardless, I still label that behavior transactional. There's an expected return/some benefit conferred to those animals which engage in this behavior given 'x' circumstances. Human beings and dogs enjoy a similar sort of relationship. It can and has crossed species lines. Some of it, too, can also be explained by nurturing or empathy 'routines' being triggered towards another animal even if it isn't kin or the same species imo.

It's not what you think. Altruism as a concept that most envision doesn't really exist that much, nor should it. It isn't beneficial to the organism or the group to be endlessly selfless. It is, though, good for both when the altruism is parochial. Within the community or group. Your group. Humans engage in selfless behavior when it benefits their group ('tribe' may be a more helpful term here). This might be a family unit, town, country, religion, ethnicity (etc). That depends on more than duty to retreat. In most states you can only respond with an equal level of force. E.g., if someone hits you, you can't just gun them down. Not unless you were reasonably sure of your life being in danger.

I'm speaking in realities, not ideals. Basic fact of nature: the strong survive. Rights and grand ideals mean nothing without the resolve to inflict great violence. No, no. What I'm saying here is that the burden of proof is on you that removing guns results in net crime reduction. Not gun crime reduction. I never made the statement that guns mean less crime. Gun control can only be successful if it lowers net crime. If it is fully enacted but it did not cause crime to go down, or if it went up, thst is abject failure.
/r/MensRights19/05/15 06:58 PM

It's a bell curve. Even weak men are more powerful than "strong" women. If we are in simple need of human bodies in our military sure, but we should focus on quality vs quantity wherever possible. Especially during downsizing (which is happening right now). AMD is struggling. They cannot match intel core for core, cycle for cycle. Just can't. So they try to be more cost friendly and opt for more cores. They got a bit of a boost due to landing all the console contracts, and this has probably helped them a bit in the PC space too I'd imagine, though Nvidia has doubled down. Interestingly, it is the fact that they are a competent CPU and GPU maker that sealed the deal. They could reasonably provide the APUs Sony and MS wanted, and at reasonable cost. …

He's right. This sub has a tendency to embrace the "equality" rhetoric more than is healthy sometimes. More consistently, mind you. Mensrights tries to actually BE fair. Population size -is- a pertinent factor. We have a much bigger country and a much bigger population size, but many of our pop centers are squeezed to far greater densities than your own. I cited NYC as an example, because it is neck and neck with London in total size- yet twice the density. I don't recognize your authority overmuch. You didn't read the source. We also have enormous population (and other) differences. "The 776 per 100,000 figure is probably a significant overestimation, and I admit my back of the envelope calculation is a bit dodgy. Every time, without fail. Do the actual homework on this, please. I've had this talk with many nice people from the UK, and they always love to talk about "how safe" the UK is vs the USA. Its a myth, nonsense. Your actual crime rates fall very closely in line with the US overall. You have to account for the different methodologies of categorizing and recording crimes (this is the mistake most make). Further, "gun culture" and "gun crime" don't matter. I struggled with some of what he said. If you read the comments I pop up a few times and ask some pointed questions and ask for clarification. He never fails to deliver, which impressed me. I don't view rape as the most horrible crime someone can commit. I'm not sure I can even understand that concept. Rape is terrible, but it is by far not the worst thing someone can do. To the rest of your post I certainly agree. There is not instance I can think of where feminists would allot even an iota of responsibility on the victim. And the pragmatic reasons for religions banning it in ancient societies had to do with the continued structure and survival of that group of people. I think we're misunderstanding each other. My statement only points out that, statistically, men attempt(?) suicide and more commonly succeed vs women. Women do it as a cry for help, men do it to kill themselves. The rates of completion vs women are much, much higher. From my point of view the answer behind the 'why' is already pretty evident. First, ever seen a female mass shooter in recent years? How many of them are there in the west vs males? Assuming the veracity of this story.. My heart goes out to this guy. It's times like these when I wish these people were in my circle of associates, so that I could reach out to them. I dunno, just talk to them or make them feel better. I feel helpless when I read stuff like this. Edit:..Why was this downvoted

Implying she actually owns a gun. Implying she could physically overpower anyone. Yea... Skeptical.

All you do is say "no youre wrong" and then make a short and petulant remark about my position and how pathetic it is. Yes, I find conversing with you frustrating. In particular because you have no comprehension of what im saying, and apparently no desire to hear me out.

Sigh. No, I feel you're just not understanding what I'm trying to say here. Whatsoever. Your characterization of my position is two dimensional at best, and yours has a foundation of sand. Whatever. No harm, no foul.

"murder is never self defense" And I'm going to assume you have a working definition of murder which supports this conclusion yes? "mur·der:the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another." The law could say most anything which would make a simple act of self defense the legal equivalent of 'murder'. It's all up to the State(meaning government body, not US state). Nebraska for instance states that you have a duty to retreat if you are confronted with an individual who may seek to…

..And the more we are treated as such, soon some will see no other recourse (however subconscious this decision may be) but to oblige them. One could argue we are already seeing this happening now. The hopelessness, the anger and the confusion reaching an absolute fever pitch in some individuals. Some of them are mentally imbalanced of course and others have simply been broken. When I look at mass shootings, which I fully agree are statistically very rare, these are the thoughts I have. There's …

Completely disagree. I don't hold this view whatsoever. The mentality that 'violence is never the answer' is just naiveté. Not true. Violence is very often an appropriate response to a situation, like someone pulling a knife on you or those you love. Self defense is a real thing. I get that some people here may be from the UK, Canada, Australia and thereabouts and that we have fundamentally different perspectives on this- but I do not subscribe to the position that force is never warranted or 'j…

Not on that precise subject specifically, but I have been told similar by what I would label 'radfems'.

You have a logical mind, self awareness and a conscience. That's a winning combination, but not especially welcome within certain groups which nominally function as hateful echo chambers. What is important, I feel, is to always remain highly self critical, fair and to hold your position to stringent standards. We're all stuck together on this cosmic dustball hurtling through space. Why waste so much time and energy hating each other and forming arbitrary divisions? Love, tempered with reason and…

This is the problem. Women in the military as it is are held to far lower standards. Does anybody really think the government is going to make it 'fair' in this regard? No. I don't think so. Honestly, I don't see many women (I can't say "none" because eventually sure it may happen) ever passing BUDS and making it as a SEAL. Or Delta Force. etc.
