If you haven't noticed we're entering a post-natural world where everything is a 'social construct', though that often doesn't seem to be applied to the behaviour of all genders equally
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/22 02:33 PM

Well if we're having less sex than wherever you're from, we're less inbred
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/21 12:47 PM

And almost everybody was in mine. I'm still in touch with them nearly a decade later and we all turned out okay. This is the UK btw.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/21 12:43 PM

Sure, but that completely obliterates the middle ground. Your second example is extreme and completely ignores the middle ground between being too soft and too hard. You can be honest without making hurtful remarks. If you are in a relationship, how likely are you to call your other half a 'fat fuck', assuming it's not already a train wreck? At the same time, if you want a healthy relationship, should you tiptoe around serious issues and try to sugercoat everything?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/21 08:01 PM

If you know what they are trying to hide, and what they are hiding is an unpleasant truth, why does the delivery matter? If you're at the point where you are in a relationship with someone, surely you want them to be honest without bullshitting? 'Diplomatic truth', to me, sounds like trying to toe the line between truth and lies. And that doesn't seem healthy to me. But maybe I'm misunderstanding and I'm open to correction
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/21 07:49 PM

That's fair. I'm a tall guy, and it makes me feel good when a girl compliments me on it. I don't suspect any ulterior motive, but I also don't expect a relationship to pop out of it. It might lead to a longer conversation it might not. That being said, I expect this is mostly down to the male perspective, and the proportion of women who actually do something like a 'cold approach'. If it happened to me 10 times a day for 10 years then sure, I could see myself becoming jaded
/r/PurplePillDebate26/10/21 06:55 PM
2

A guy might cold approach you because he thinks you're cute, then if you date, and he likes your personality and other things that aren't 'out of your control', there might be a relationship. It's starting with physical attraction and moving on to deeper subjects - which is just the same process as a 'normal' relationship but in reverse. If it works out, the end point is the same, you have a relationship. If it doesn't work out, you say goodbye after the first or second date and move on with you…

We're long past the point of needing good genes to survive. And I know, primal instincts and all that, but if men are supposed to overcome theirs so can women.

You can be a person and withhold sex. Generally speaking, most men are interested in sex much sooner in the relationship than women. In that sense, the man has to 'earn' sex by proving that he's dedicated to her.

I wouldn't just take it for other people, it would be for my own peace of mind as well. I wouldn't rely on the word of someone I don't know well, so I'd just have to maximise my chances - insist that they are using something, and use something myself as well.

Penetrative sex always carries the risk of pregnancy. Precum can contain sperm.

Funnily enough, the common cold has been around for thousands of years, so we have built up an extremely strong immune response to it. That's why it's called 'common', it's everywhere and we've been exposed to it for a very long time.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/21 05:35 PM
2

That may be true, but in a time where social interaction is becoming increasingly virtual, and more than ever before we are hyper-aware of perceived sexual harassment, learning is harder and takes longer. It's different for men because they are expected to approach. The problems I've described above don't hit so hard if you can sit in a bar or café, look pretty, and bat your eyelashes at a guy rather than actually having to go up to them, start a conversation, and keep the ball continuously roll…
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/21 05:15 PM

it just comes down to preferences and plenty of women have a preference for men who haven’t fucked a bunch of women before us. Idk why that’s so hard for some people (men) to understand? There's a difference between a guy who spends his time sleeping around and a guy who knows how to please a woman though, right?

I tried to address this in the OP, and I know it's highly theoretical - it's more about the ideas behind it - but I'm emphasising a more conventional war, where nukes are avoided either because of the threat of MAD or political suicide.

Maybe I'm missing something. It seems you are suggesting men being able to orgasm more often than women is a point in their favour, despite women not relying on orgasms as much for pleasure
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/21 06:52 PM
3

Most, if not all, of the other reasons you list for enjoying sex do not rely on orgasm
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/21 06:48 PM
2

So sex can't feel good if you don't orgasm?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/21 06:45 PM

It was also men that wrote up things like the Geneva convention and the universal declaration of human rights, amongst a whole host of other things that have made atrocities far less common than they once were. It's not a unidimensional issue.

Women do the same to men all the time (men only want one thing), what's wrong with men catching up?

Those all come under cold approach territory which, according to nearly all women on this sub, is no place to hit on a girl because they're busy going about their lives and don't want to be bothered

Emotional abuse is a thing too, just saying. 'Threats' don't have to be physical, they can be psychological or financial as well, amongst other things.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/21 07:26 PM

Some women are willing to overlook a lack of height if other factors, like a handsome face or fit body, compensate. The variety of male preference knows almost no bounds. Fat, thin, tall, short, curvy, athletic - you name it, there are men out there that are wild about it.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/21 05:37 PM

I thought that was because Japanese commuting can be so congested that it was insurance against crapping yourself, not because men want to be babies.

I find it interesting the guys here never receive compliments from male friends. Why are you all so damn cold to eachother? Me and the guys don't compliment each other on our physical attributes because we don't really consider our appearance to be that important to each other. We might compliment each other's clothes occasionally.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/20 07:35 PM
1

I have only ever been complimented on my looks by a woman that I have complimented first on a date.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/20 07:33 PM
1

I get that. I think a lot of guys feel as though they're being 'objectified' in the sense that they are expected to be the one providing financial buoyancy on a date because their money is the most important thing about them. I felt like that at one time. As I've gotten older, I've taken the approach that by insisting on paying I'm making money no object - money isn't a consideration for me, I'm elevating my date above it. It took a bit of time to get there, and there's something of a transition…
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/20 08:06 PM
1

That makes sense. insisted on covering everything Do you mean, for example, that you offered to pay but he insisted anyway? Would you have held it against him if he accepted your offer to pay?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/20 07:33 PM

Do you expect the guy to continue paying for you on the second, third, fourth date?

I compliment female friends on their makeup and I'm a guy, it didn't cross my mind that it doesn't happen. I can appreciate the artistry behind it. I complimented a girl I met at college on her eye shadow and she went a little crazy (in a good way) that a guy complimented her makeup... that was an eye opener lol

You're taking the bottom like, 15-25% of the spectrum of guys that frequent this sub - and I think I'm being generous. I've been lurking for about a year and haven't seen a post like that yet that wasn't downvoted by literally everyone
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/20 08:18 PM

This wasn't about control. It was about why men have a strong desire for sex. What men like the guy who started this thread have a problem with is guys being berated for wanting sex in the first place. Sure, some guys lead girls on, and that's regrettable. But we're not here saying "guys should get to use girls whatever the circumstances". We're saying that men should not be berated purely for wanting sex
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/20 08:16 PM

You're adding huge amounts of extrapolation to what was initially a very simple discussion, whether or not sex is a basic instinct.

when you get 10 of these each day it get's EXTREMELY exhausting You know what else is extremely exhausting? The exact opposite. No matter your technique, whether it be amount of swiping or content of your first message, you will almost certainly not get a date if you match with a girl. And that's skipping over the part where you're almost certainly not going to match with her in the first place. This isn't an experience unique to unattractive men either. Animals want sex not because they want to have a family but because they are programmed to desire it, to pass their genes on. Adopting does not pass on one's genes, which is why it's incredibly rare in the natural world. Men 'want pussy' for the same reason all animals want sex, because if they didn't, we wouldn't be here.

Why does dating = sex and nothing else? What is this caricature of men you've drawn?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/20 06:45 PM

Girls always complain about guys 'missing the signals'. Very often when we do see something as a signal, we're shot down for being too eager or thirsty, or for ruining what was supposed to be purely friendly. The tight rope is extremely thin.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/20 06:39 PM
2

This is the typical outlook of a woman who doesn't know what dating is like for the average guy.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/20 06:33 PM

Well, no, not all of them all the time. Most people are some of these some of the time, but aren't the complete package.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/01/20 06:52 PM

Do you mean walking up to random girls in the street and asking them? What is the context here?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/20 10:00 PM

But women want to be asked out on dates But by whom and under what circumstances? I don't think I've ever met a woman who didn't have fairly strict criteria for both. They might be flattered, but that's not a result.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/20 09:45 PM

that's not the only place to meet single women nearly all women on here make very clear that they only want to be approached in a social setting. I don't know of many social settings besides clubs and bars that people congregate in on a regular basis.

How do you know? And even if it is easier, is a few minutes' less time spent masturbating going to have a big impact on men's desire to pursue women?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/12/19 02:16 PM
1

Surely the big dopamine hit is from the orgasm, not the watching of porn, and that's the same regardless of what you're masturbating to.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/12/19 02:48 AM
2

Why would watching sex rather than imagining sex have such a profound influence on men's desire to pursue women?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/19 11:26 PM
6

No, it really doesn't matter that much. If you unmatch before the conversation even starts, you (the girl) haven't lost anything. At least when a woman matches a man there's genuine interest This is so far from the truth. Many women use apps like Tinder as either an ego booster or just a fun little time waster, swiping on guys they think are cute with absolutely no intention of dating them. I've seen girls say this online and I've talked about it with female friends. In my own experience, about …
/r/PurplePillDebate01/12/19 12:18 PM

Since women proportionally show very limited interest and swipe very conservatively, it's much more efficient as an average man to swipe everyone and then see afterwards who likes you back. You then check their profile and if you don't like it, you unmatch.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/12/19 12:09 PM
8

Dudes, in general, swipe on everyone without reading profiles. Some men I know just swipe on EVERYONE It's a chicken and egg problem, we do this because so few women show interest or approach on OLD that a lawn sprinkler approach is the only option if you're not unusually attractive. Once we know who likes us back, then we check their profile.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/12/19 12:07 PM
1

I think there are two definitions of 'clear', the male definition where interest is explicit (you're cute, want to grab a drink?), and the female definition where interest is suggested (I sure wish a cute guy would take me for a drink, hint hint).
/r/PurplePillDebate27/11/19 11:49 AM

That's his job If the abolition of gender roles reaches its logical conclusion and you can't rely on the man you want to make the move any more, would you change the way you behave?

It does take courage to do something like commit a crime. There are severe consequences that can affect your life in a very negative way. If you lack courage, the risks will put you off. Now when it comes to murdering someone, the consequences are extremely harsh. In order to not care about those consequences you have to have unusually high courage. Courage doesn't have to be associated with virtue.

You're basically fucking with men's heads, particularly from an evolutionary standpoint. You give them all the signals that you want to proceed into sexual intimacy when inside you have no intention of doing so. I have to be very careful with what I say or I'll be accused of 'blaming the victim' [why some women are so desperate to be the victim I'll never know, seems the opposite of being empowered], but when you so clearly and so deliberately present yourself as a sexual object, you should expe…

I'm not sure about never understand because I see what you mean and I'm starting to get the picture. Perhaps never value would be a better description, because attention for the sake of attention in a sexual context does nothing for me. Can you at least see where confusion on men's part enters the equation, though? Deriding the male 'gaze' in this way seems a little unfair. We see women looking and acting sexy in the club, and often signalling to us that they approve of our attention, but at the…

Huh, ok. Seems counter-intuitive to dress sexily and dance provocatively while at the same time shunning male attention. I guess that's just my male perspective. The idea of dressing myself and physically presenting myself in a sexually promiscuous way for the exclusive benefit of myself and my male friends is utterly strange to me.

'Predator' in a sexually selective sense is the role that nature and society has given man, for better or worse. If it wasn't predatory birth rates would go through the floor, because women sure aren't in pursuit when it comes to dating. Besides, what woman finds a 'prey-like' man attractive?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/09/19 09:31 AM

I think it's a generational thing that isn't specific to one gender. People my age (early-mid 20s) don't seem to go out with the explicit purpose of enjoying the company of other people or making friends very often. They do it for other purposes, like buying coffee or groceries, making a bank deposit, chores or responsibilities in general. But going out one afternoon just to socialise with strangers? It sounds weird to me because it just doesn't happen. It's all compressed into a few late-night …

I'm really into a girl that I've started talking to recently. She doesn't avoid eye contact but she moves away fairly quickly. Is there something I can do or say that will shed some light? It seems a bit early to ask her out on a date as I've only spoken to her twice at our fitness class. Maybe I should just go for it?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/19 02:51 PM

I either behave very nervous and evasive I understand this isn't a deliberate reaction for most people but it makes pushing against a girl I'm into so painful. Like, am I actually creeping this girl out? Am I hitting on a girl who has zero interest in me whatsoever? I'm quite shy myself so I'm very reluctant to push against what feels like a locked door. I've also been guilty of appearing disinterested due to nervousness. It's really easy to do.

The '/' in AF/BB represents a divide: teens to mid-late 20s, then late 20s onwards. In the first period, generally speaking, 'alphas' prioritise lifting weights, sports and socialising, while 'betas' prioritise studying and working their way up the career ladder. It's a difference in personality. Of course there are men that do both in their early years, but they're relatively rare.

That Guardian article is what I'd consider to be a good example of toxic femininity. Victim mentality, ultra-defensive, and a sort of casual, self-assured righteousness. I'd like to believe that most people don't share that author's view. That increase in reluctant men is probably comprised of a minority of genuine misogynistic perverts who now think twice before they act, and a majority of innocent men, predominantly shy or inexperienced ones. Perhaps they view the relationship between you and them less seriously than you perceive it. They might just be after casual fun and enjoyment, that isn't worth beating around the bush and playing games to edge towards. It's a difference in perspective. I think there's similarities between men 'missing the signals' when a woman is interested and women doing the same when a man is feeling a certain way. Women, from a biological and societal perspective, are the prize which men must pursue and win over. Men, from the same perspective, have to be strong, upright, and weather the storm to show that they are capable of warding off competitors and protecting partner and offspring. Also, though I haven't been in this situation myself, I've seen many m…

I'm going to jump in here. To me emotional labour is being a receptacle for another person, listening to all their problems, and sympathising with and reassuring them (I would never call it that because it implies that being emotionally supportive to someone you love is a chore - though perhaps it can apply when things become excessive, but very few men become emotional to an excessive degree).
