In the first scenario, do single moms also get paid?

And people who know how to follow the rule "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" are more likely to judge people who think that anyone really cares about their unpleasant opinions

If only the only advice redpillers have was that men should go to the gym and dress nicely.

I love how you start talking about “how much men work” but that suddenly switch to just how much they earn.

Sure. Why would it be the default to be looking for a relationship? What’s so bizarre about being comfortable with singlehood?

The point of the signals is that they are not explicit. Girls don't hang a sign that says "open for business". They give signals but the signals can always be mistaken for nothing, by design. They want you to notice, but they want you to notice because you're looking for it, not because they walked up and slapped you on the face. Therefore you will never get one of these signals and be 100% sure - that just isn't how it works. It always requires a little leap of faith from you, you're always goi…

I'll say it again: increasing the amount of rights people have is not a means to some other end, like "society's stability". Society is worthless except for its ability to grant rights. I don't want society to function if it requires subjugating anyone's ability to engage in whatever consensual sex they want. What good is society? Society is just a means. Human freedom is the end served by it. So human freedom doesn't need justification. It doesn't need its outputs to exceed its inputs. Society …

I'm only talking about the freedom to have sex with other consenting adults and the freedom to not have sex, or marriage, that we don't want to. That particular freedom is clearly a good thing in and of itself. Making sex and marriage something that is by choice, and only by choice, is a good thing in and of itself and not just for particular individuals but for the broad mass of society. It doesn't need to justify itself by its "results"; if we can sustain it we should.

I think it’s a middle class thing. The rich and the poor both understand that life is but a lark; from one day to the next it’s all random. The middle class doesn’t see why life can’t simply always offer a fair and predictable “deal” for every “citizen”. It stems from the circumstances they go through as they make their living. Middle class life fosters grand illusions about what the purpose of society actually is.

Guys, I’m begging you to lay off the armchair eco-psych thought experiments. You’re not even following the internal logic, however dubious, of eco-psych itself anymore, you’re just doing.. . . Something. If you cheat, and get away with it, you can get another man to raise your child thinking it’s his. Yeah, that spreads resources thin, but not my resources. It spreads the other guy’s resources thin and allows me to get ahead at his expense in the “competition” to reproduce. I guarantee you that …

Yea, when it doesn’t actually result in Liberty. This happens at least as often as any other kind of human plan fails at its objective. Inventing a way of life that increases liberty is a difficult task. You’re not guaranteed that your attempt succeeds just because you set your mind to it, just as you’re not guaranteed to actually invent a better mousetrap just because you turn your basement into a workshop and start printing yourself business cards that say “mousetrap inventor”. The proof is in…

I sexual freedom - freedom to have sex with other consenting adults - is an good in itself. It’s not a means of achieving something else, so it can’t “fail”. The more rights and freedoms individuals have the better.

I'm a man who has never had any problem with dating women with a high amount of sexual experience. In fact I prefer it - experienced and sexually confident women are more fun. I assume this makes me a defective biological male?

I always found it amusingly ironic that a woman who simply enjoys sex and engages in it for its own sake to have fun gets labeled a "whore". To me, a whore is a woman who has sex for money. The farthest possible thing from a "whore" would seem to me to be a woman who has sex just purely for its own sake without getting anything in return. This is a weird and frankly telling blind spot in colloquial terminology. Shouldn't a "whore" be a woman who exchanges sex for money and material goods? If a "…

Can you give a real example from history of lower classes threatening violence to force upper class men to be monogamous?

lmao. "investing in women to show that you're not just after sex"? Or investing in women to show that you deserve sex? You're clearly spending that money as a ploy to get sex, by your own admission.

You have no clue. The “dystopia” you portray as so unrealistic is the reality for countless women on Earth right now. Their culture, families, and society at large don’t give them the option to having the sex life they would prefer. This was the reality for Western women as well until a short time ago. Sex outside of marriage was stigmatized or worse. Marital rape was seen as acceptable (as not rape). Women were prevented from independence by laws against their owning property and so on. Married…

Of course you don’t see that the state commandeering your body and ensuring that your give birth against your will is essentially a deprivation of Liberty and the pursuit of happiness (as well as potentially life since every pregnancy carries a risk of death for the mother). It would be inconvenient for you to acknowledge since there is no other case where, in order to save a “person”, we necessarily have to deprive a particular person (who didn’t do anything illegal) of these rights. You’d have…

What are you talking about? If I’m pregnant and I want to terminate the pregnancy, and the state forced me to keep the pregnancy, that is forcing someone to give birth. If it weren’t for your force, they wouldn’t be giving birth. That’s it. The pregnancy is forced. No the state didn’t force the pregnancy to begin, but they forced it to continue. And the birth is forced. Having sex and getting pregnant, even unintentionally, is not a crime. The state has no business punishing it withy enslavement…

I disagree, this argument in general is about whether or not the state ought to regulate it. On a contingent basis there might be people here and there entering it without appreciating that or having an opinion about whether the state ought to change the age, but if that were generalized, the whole debate would not exist as we know it. It’s an argument about what ought to be done, which is repeatedly violated by individuals tossing about facts and figures that have nothing to do with the pertine…

Again, all of that may well be true, I don’t know. But regardless what does it have to do with moral judgement of the decision two people make to enter into any kind of encounter or relationship? I repeat: you cannot derive an ought from an is. No matter what the “is” looks like, it is not sufficient justification in itself for what we “ought” to do about it.

Well, you have a moral opinion, then. Congratulations. My comment stands as a response to your initial argument, which you have now changed to a moral opinion. Your moral opinion has nothing to do with the statistic “how often does a marriage between two given identity categories end in marriage”. On the one hand you know better than apply this logic to all identity categories, but on the other you tacitly treat it as just another piece of evidence for this particular prejudice of yours (which I…

I don’t understand why what there is to “judge” about two people who give a relationship a try even if the relationship has factors that make it statistically unlikely to exceed. That just sounds like being human - going against the odds. And anyway, sounds like it’s just a matter of opinion, by your own admission.

But the point is that, in a romantic encounter between a non-practicing person from a Catholic family versus a non-practicing person from a Muslim family, in say, France, there is a power imbalance since that society privileges Catholics over Muslims (who are also generally immigrants, and so on). So should it be anathema for a Catholic to date a Muslim in France? My question would be is it anathema for a person from a wealthy and well-connected family to date someone who is, say, from a poor fa…
