Maybe it's not the gender that's the problem, but the privilege. They have it now, and have had it for so long that it's going to their heads.

That's why I've gotten in the habit of blocking so much. The only winning move is not to engage with the bait at all.

Hard for me to sympathize without all my Programming rearing its ugly head. "Quit whining." "Dude, that's life." "Walk it off." "Stop crying, that's embarrassing (for a man)."

Absolutely true, but I think many go into it with honest intentions. Certainly I did. I started at "How do I be a good person?" .. until I realized, they don't care whether I'm Good necessarily, just as long as I was Compliant. It takes awhile to wake up to this, because the messages are fed in the same way.

Whether you lower your standards or not, it won't change the reality of the modern landscape. People, women and men, are exposed to c0rn at earlier and earlier ages, and the girls can act upon it pretty much whenever they feel like it, and the predators (even young ones) are waiting in the wings to take advantage. The point is, you'll never find a virgin if you want to stay legal (as you ought).

To be fair, it's about the level of quality of advice I would expect from "The_Girth_Cannon"

Speaking from experience, fantasies can also be actively, hideously destructive because they can warp a person's expectations about reality. Honestly, I think a lot more people in our society need to be spending a lot more time dealing with reality on its own terms, with no layers of fantasy overtop.

I just wanna be MYSELF. I want my brothers to also not feel confined to live in some restrictive gender norms if it doesn't match their soul. I want them to be THEMSELVES. Some of us are masculine. Some of us align more closely with traditionally feminine personality traits. Why is it so fucking difficult for people to understand this basic concept? I'm neither for nor against "masculinity" per se. I'm for people, instead.

I was skeptical when I saw this post 4 days ago, but after a recent conversation with someone here on reddit (now wiped, don't seek please), I think I'm ready. It's occurred to me, we men don't have any place left to express ourselves, really, and not be dismissed, judged, or have our opinion wiped completely, when it related to men's issues. OP let me know if you come up with something. Agree with the other commenter, #mentoo sounds like it's making fun.

What's driving r/MensRights is more and more of us are beginning to recognize: we're not bad people just by virtue of our gender.. which sounds obvious but is a message driven into us so relentlessly by the media, and we're tired of apologizing for it. Your statement "I'm a man, I'm sorry", for example, very much bothers me.

I think we're all becoming aware of these groups, even those of us who haven't been targetted. Unfortunately I don't know if there's a lot to be done, but you may want to speak to an expert: lawyer or police. The problem is, being proactive can add fuel to the fire, e.g. if you reach out to an ex and present evidence that they've unfairly targetted you, they can use THAT contact as further evidence that you're "stalking them". On the other hand, a lawyer may be able to suggest something concrete…

My heritage is originally French (WAY back) but our family has lived in this country that I basically consider my cultural heritage to be "only" Canadian (though I feel less right to be here than indigenous). Nevertheless, as a Canadian, I have become extremely disheartened at the direction the dating landscape has taken in the last three decades. I was a simp for a long time (basically, with similar expectations as your cousin) but woke up out of it after a bad breakup. I consider myself VERY L…

Better Bachelor cited a study on an episode I saw most recently, one particular woman on a dating app selected to date 23 guys from the well over 2000 she swiped through in the first two months she used the app. (I remembered the stat because of all the 2's.) Of that batch, she slept with 19 out of the 23. Yep, less than 1%. Every other guy is literally invisible.

Honestly I think it won't make a difference until the Simps, as a whole group, hear the message. Right now they're only turning one at a time (I used to be one). All that money flows to women just for being pretty, for virtually no effort, and women have no reason to change their attitudes in the meantime. I think the simps are a much bigger problem than even Feminism, because their behaviours are almost cult-like without actually being a cult.

I believe women are ignorant, to a degree. Instincts don't have a goal. Your instinct to eat doesn't make you eat to nourish yourself. Instead, evolution evolves instincts. If those instincts happen to make you survive long enough to reproduce, then those genes propagate. Women really do make themselves "look better" for themselves, to satisfy their urges which come from their instincts. It's no coincidence that men like it too, but it doesn't change the instinct-driven motivation for women.

Anecdotally I see a lot of supposedly straight men in r/jerkofftoceleb who are like "My god, she's so pretty, any guys wanna suck my dick?" And yes, the following of certain celebrities like Cher (who are literally women, but might be considered "ambiguous presenting") get so rampantly bitchy. It feels like so much cosplaying.

Except unchecked greed and sociopathy isn't even rational.
