Honestly, even if you aren't trying to get a mate or are a woman, this is generally fantastic advice. I know people who think themselves trapped in dead-end or unhappy jobs and these tips could apply to getting themselves out of a rut.

I don't know that having a roster of anyone is healthy.. I would say that having hobbies, good distractions and the alike is important. For example if someone you are feeling needy over is busy or just caught up in their own stuff and needs to have distance, go play games, go outside, try something new, indulge a hobby or pick up a new one. Playing with people to distract yourself from someone else is misusing other people and asking for the same treatment back.

Agreed, OP has to start therapy before OP can start hooking up. Or else, OP risks laying out that past toxicity onto the person he meets.

Ask yourself, what are you aiming at with a cold approach to begin with? I've never been good at one night stands and such, but I've done alot better talking to anyone but normalizing in my head that they are a person like me. If you add mystique around the gender of interest, you're probably view it as a game more than anything else.
