I had forgotten a key issue I'm tracking: porn. I still find myself falling into porn use once a week or so. The saving grace is I don't PMO. It's almost muscle memory to go to porn when I'm stressed. I'm aiming to change this. I have browed porn within this week, but I'm aiming for 1 week without porn first. I've used porn this week, but holding myself to no more. Looking for a better substitute to stress/pressure

OYS #2: 2022/06/04 I had written 10 OYS's in the past. Now I'll restarting it Physical 26, Engaged. 5'6", 142 pounds. Squat: 175 Bench: 135 Shoulder: 130 Lat PullDown: 145 Continuing to consistently go to the gym & counting my macros/cals. I'm discovering what the best times are to go as sometimes it's so busy it takes forever to get a place in any bench/rack/machine. Early morning before 8 AM seems to work the best. Mental I've decided to additionally motivate myself via carrot & stick in my ca…

Boredom with the nature of the work or boredom because of a lack of it? Bored because I'm too comfortable and not pushing myself. I don't (currently) have a need to grow career wise and I have some level of job security. I don't like it. It lacks the integrity we're called to work for in Colossians 3:23 and is a poor example for my family & small group. Planning on moving out of my comfort-zone via some short-term reward/punishments to kick start my discipline. Is this like a connect group from …

I'm a little shocked at how empty this is. However, I need it so I'll use it. OYS #1: 2022/06/08 I had written 10 OYS's in the past. Now I'll restarting it Physical 26, Engaged. 5'6", 142 pounds.I lost weight, gained weight, and now I'm going back to the gym. My stats are terrible since I'm starting over but I know they'll go up quickly. I started to go regularly 1 week ago. Before that, I used adjustable dumbbells I bought. Squat: 155 Bench: 125 Shoulder: 120 Lat PullDown: 130 Mental Changed te…

I attend. It's less about what the church provides and more about the influence I could be. Churches will only continue to be BP if all the dedicated men avoid them. Gotta start somewhere

I fast from time to time, used to be once a month or so. I have an active job where I'm normally dead-tired after the day. No kids though so take this with a grain of salt. You're not likely going to find a day where you can get away from everything to just focus on all spiritual things, especially if you want to do it on a regular cadence, so figuring out how to do it on your regular day is helpful When biblical figures fast, rather than focusing not eating the emphasis is on the prayer and ref…

There's a lot of "my goodness Jesus would never talk about this" or "this is focusing too much on the world". We talk about sex, money, and success here because we recognize these things as part of a man's drive that's placed in God to succeed and provide for his family. More Biblically speaking I see this sub as a whole response to James 2:16 "If one of you says to them, "Go in peace; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? - James 2:16 At the very…

I try to hit around 1300-1400. Most days I make it. On bad days I'm around 1500-1600. Felt like ever since I started exercising more my body actually needed less calories to function. I have way more energy after I got used to eating below 1700 calories a day. It's a double-edged sword though since it means I need to eat even less. I've been genuinely shocked at how little I need to function normally for the day. God really did good when he made the human body

OYS #10: 2020/04/15 After 10 OYS, it's good to write these. They've kept me accountable and help me track my progress. Glad I started them. Physical 26, Single. 5'6", 139 pounds. I still lost weight, though not as much as I could have. I have 4 pounds to go in 2 weeks. Need to stay on this to make sure I make it to 135 before the end of the month. Not sure if running is really helping. In the end, I feel like it hasn't really helped in weight gain at all and I realized time-wise it's kinda ineff…

OYS #9: 2020/04/08 Physical 26, Single. 5'6", 139.7 pounds. Bench Squat Deadlift OH Press BB Row 135 225 210 90 120 Well the extra exercise is helping. I've broken through 140 and I'm losing weight. However, the constant exercise is honestly a lot of work. 5 times a week is quite a bit. I can't believe I only had to lift 3 times a day before when the gyms were open to make progress. After this quarantine I'm going to appreciate the barbell 100 times more. I noticed I've also been losing muscle t…

Good idea. More accountability will give me a trackable way on spending time thinking about God's word. I'll add the top 2-3 verses with my thoughts each OYS for the next month or so and see if it helps

OYS #8: 2020/04/02 Physical 26, Single. 5'6", 141.4 pounds. Bench Squat Deadlift OH Press BB Row 135 225 210 90 120 I don't know why I said I'd hit 140 before next OYS. That was clearly an unrealistic goal. I've been thinking why I've been plateauing and I think on top of my BMR going down, my body getting used to the exercises I'm doing, and not being able to use barbells, I've been having a small drink + snacks every other day with my family. It's good family time so I don't want to be rude an…

OYS #7: 2020/03/28 Honestly didn't want to write this, but screw it, gotta OMS Physical 26, Single. 5'6", 142 pounds. Bench Squat Deadlift OH Press BB Row 135 225 210 90 120 Although it doesn't seem like it, I'm actually plateauing. It's been really difficult continuing my cut without doing compound barbell exercises. I had to drastically cut down what I eat to continue to make any progress. Doesn't help that my family is making ridiculous portions of food. They're thankfully understanding of my…

OYS #6: 2020/03/21 Physical 26, Single. 5'6", 144 pounds. Bench Squat Deadlift OH Press BB Row 135 225 210 90 120 I made my initial goal of losing 10 pounds by the end of March. I did some numbers awhile ago and I want to get to 135, which should put me around 10-12% body fat before I start to bulk. Everything's as planned which is really nice. New goal is to reach this before the end of April. I'm a little worried I'm losing fat TOO quickly and I'm cutting into my muscle. Before I was less worr…

OYS #5: 2020/03/11 Physical 26, Single. 5'6", 147 pounds. Exercise Bench Squat Deadlift OH Press BB Row Current 135 225 210 90 120 Before Deload 150 X 235 100 X The cut is still working. I can't believe it's this straightforward after over 5 years of trying to lose weight. I've been consistently losing 2 pounds a week. I'm worried for the day it stops and the "hard part" starts but honestly I shouldn't think about it and enjoy the journey. Started to deload. This is the nice thing about 5x5. It'…

OYS #4: 2020/03/04 Physical 26, Single. 5'6", 149 pounds. Bench 150, Squat 205, Deadlift 235, OH Press 100, BB Row 110 Numbers are starting to stall, as expected of cutting. I ended up really straining one of my traps. Ended up with a crazy sore neck for a few days. I couldn't bench or OH Press my usual weights without some significant pain. It's almost healed up, so I'm looking forward to doing my regular weight. Lost a fair bit of weight, down 2 pounds. Went out with some friends and over-ate …

OYS #3: 2020/02/27 Travelling for work. Only been a few days since my last OYS so not too much change. Physical 26, Single. 5'6", 151 pounds. Bench 150, Squat 195, Deadlift 230, OH Press 100, BB Row 105 Started actually doing Stronglifts 5x5 instead of the modified Starting Strength I've been doing for awhile. Learning how to Barbell Row. I'm starting to get the form down and I'm excited on how it seems to be the answer for increasing my deadlift. When I used to Dead Lift 285, my biggest issue w…

A few things You have very clear requirements for a marriageable woman, that much is certain. But I'm reading this: She's so hot that I've decided I won't even look at her And If she were a Christian I would be the free-est man in the world There's some very clear attraction here that's solely on the basis of her being hotter than a cast-iron left forgotten on an open stove. You need to learn how to vet not only based on physical appearances, but on other criteria as well. And when I say vet, on…

Assuming you know she's non-Christian and you very certainly know you don't want to start anything with her, I find it helpful to do a hard-next and tell myself "There's absolutely zero possibility of sex with this woman because I've decided so". It's the possibility of possibilities that keeps your thoughts on her. Once you've drawn a hard line, put your foot down, and made your decision you can move on. Your situation also reminds me of this verse: If you do well, will you not be accepted? And…

If her life is truly falling to pieces she's going to be focused on herself. She's not going to be thinking about your or your time. It's just how it is. Shame you offered to hear her out and she turned you down. She sounds like she might've needed someone to listen to. But I think it's part and parcel of being a Christian. Consider when we share the gospel. It's life-changing, literally soul-saving information but people will brush us off and won't even hear us out. And what can you do? Just sh…

>Are you tracking your calories?     Yep. Started tracking my calories but I've had consistent problems with having to eat-out or social events. It's really hard to estimate calories and macros when someone else is doing the cooking. The only solution I've found is to just try to eat less, with mixed results.     >Remember: having low body fat and muscles feels better than any food tastes.     Never thought about this since I've never been that fit but I'm looking forward to…

OYS #1: 2020/02/12 Been lurking on this sub since the beginning of the year and thought it'd be a great idea to begin posting on the OYS threads to keep myself accountable in a trackable manner. Plus maybe get some feedback from the community if I'm ever in error. This is my first post so it might be longer than it will be in the future, since there's a bit of set-up around my goals and where I am right now. Physical 26, Single. 5'6", 154 pounds. Bench 145, Squat 170, Deadlift 215, OH Press 100 …
