However, because you didn't read the book, your reasoning is going in the wrong direction. Individualism destroys ties within family and race, leaving individuals pursuing material gains (career) instead of biological gains (reproduction) Funny, what's so valuable about the above institutions?... This sort of inclusion of entities into the sphere of individual rights by recent liberals has been ever snowballing. This society has now extended rights to many animals (think vegetarian craze) and have wondered whether a single cell, like the human zygote(=sperm+egg), should have its "right" to life respected.
