I agree. But what are we going to do to make that happen? I’m starting a local affiliate of the NCFM. Maybe you all want to start one, too, and be active at the local level with targeted actions. Like, for example, if your local city hall has a breast cancer awareness drive then push them to have the same for prostates — and if they ball, take civil action.

What she says might be fair. Kinda sucks to have to take care of kids without a partner around. Really sucks when child protective services won’t take the kids out of your custody, too. I wasn’t really livid. I’ve been in the social work field for about four years. If my anger was a fire I’d have been smoldering not a blaze. As for the screening questions: maybe ask the therapist/counselor what they think the main cause of domestic violence is, and if they agree with the Duluth Method. I don’t think asking about the APA guidelines would be effective. Honestly, no one reads those things. I was in an office of six therapists and none of them had even heard of it in January.

I am a social worker. In my experience, if a little boy gets raped by older sister or female caregiver: “oh that poor woman must have had so much trauma early in life.” Then the boy begins to act out, because living with one’s rapist causes PTSD: “this kid needs to go residential.”

This one time I was in a sub about fruit juice. OP asked about how to get orange juice with medium pulp. They said they really enjoy orange juice, but the extra pulp detracted from the experience and the no pulp varieties just didn’t taste like orange juice.
