But can you get religiously married still? id you are not legally married, you don’t have to worry about family court. However, I haven’t thought it all the way through as in will it cause problems down the line. She’ll still probably get bored of you and buy a CC ticket one day. So this plan isn’t foolproof.

This is the way. I’m doing something similar with cash for buying a house. I stuff it into an online savings account as I’ll need it whenever housing prices drop back to reasonable levels where I live. Right now homes in my area sell same day for $200k more than asking because demand is so high. I’ll wait :) .

IMHO, you’re doing the right thing by investing in yourself. The skills , knowledge, and self esteem you gain will never cheat on you, never take you to family court, and never empty your wallet to finance someone else’s lifestyle.

No dips here. I’m way too busy investing in myself to even think about “dipping”.

This. They are running out of ammo. All they have left is shaming and that stopped working years ago. But they still try to use it.

People post pictures of spoons on their profile when everyone knows ... “There is no spoon”

Live free or die a marriage slave. I hear you. A friend of mine chose the former and, yeah, he was financially destitute for 14ish years. The mental part isn't a rose garden either, especially if it was your childhood sweetheart that decided to exchange marriage vows for a ride on the CC. Some guys choose the latter. I don't judge them, it's a very personal decision of cost vs benefit. You can make arguments to stay ( want to stay for the sake of your children, for example ) . Good luck sir.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
