Ah yes, all of X kind of people are exactly like the 2 examples of X people you met. Replace "American" with "black" or "Muslim" and keep going with that stellar mentality.

Our entire social norms about this are messed up. Just the other day I had a fire and one of my buddies was telling us how he woke up once to find his ex straddling him with a knife in her hand saying she'd castrate and kill him if he ever broke up with her. Everyone just laughed and said shit like "dont put your dick in crazy, man". Imagine if my buddy was a woman and she woke up to her boyfriend doing that... The reaction would likely be (and justifiably so) one of horror and saying how awful …

Remember to always carry boardroom presentation size paper with you to the beach in case you have to quickly write your dialogue to a video so people will see what it's about while scrolling through their newsfeed with sound off. Definitely spontaneous and not staged at all.

It doesnt make you a couple, true; but there are some obvious expectations that go along with it if you both agree beforehand that it's a date: that this is not just buddies hanging out, that we are both looking to see if theres a romantic spark, that we are open to this leading to something more, etc. You can't retroactively say it wasn't a date then. The mature, decent human thing would have been for her to own that it was a date and, if she felt there wasn't a spark, to just let the guy know …

Well done. Your mutual friends are in the wrong. You drew a healthy boundary, enforced it, and held her accountable for being a shitty human. If more people did what you did, there'd be a whole lot fewer shitty people in the world cuz they'd know they can't just get away with it.

This exactly. You could have the most beautifully crafted argument and it won't convince her. Simply back up what you wrote with the solid citations, sources, given and explain you think you were graded unfairly because you did the research and here are the sources. You won't be able to change her beliefs, and hopefully this will wake her up and remind her she's supposed to be grading your research and writing abilities, not her beliefs.

The circumcision debate seems to always collapse into those against it just seeming to want to make sure cut guys feel as awful as possible about what was done to them. How bout this: pros and cons aside, I and any other circumcised guy has every right to be happy and content with my own body, and know too that my parents and doctor at birth most likely acted out of good intent for what they knew at the time, and what may very well be the truth of it still. Stop just trying to tear down your fel…

This is like the dude equivalent of pink pussy hats: overly emotional, womanish, reactive, all-shock value without real effect, and hysterical.

Sounds like the problem is just Mexico. Other nations with large cities seem to be able to have -gasp- mixed gender metro systems.

Easy to disregard your country's problems if you can just wave off any criticism as being another "gringo generalisation"

If Mexicans see that and just think it's "funny", it's no wonder the country is garbage and so many are trying to leave it.

I don't think you or any other circumcised man should feel less because of it. There are cultures where to not be circumcised means not being fully a man or part of the tribe. Part of the problem is that men in the US are circumcised for no real strong reason, unless they are Jewish or Muslim and were done for religion. It's also hardly talked about, so your first discovery of what happened to you is likely to come from porn or the internet, and the first sites to pop up will be intactivist site…

I agree. I lived in Germany for a time (I'm an American), and it really made me realize just how markedly friendly and open Americans generally are just as a cultural default. I met many of fine Germans, sure, but generally the default is to be rather serious, distanced, guarded, etc. Germans also generally have that same "you'll never really be one of us" mentality. For all the propaganda telling us how close-minded we are, Americans are actually the most welcoming, friendly, and accepting peop…

I'd echo what others have said. Just be there for him; you don't have to go out of your way to approve or pretend you support it all, but going out of your way to help him see the light just might back fire and be unwelcome advice at the moment. I learned the hard way. Had a real good buddy of mine in a horrible relationship. His gf weaseled him into a joint bank account, always tore him down, talked to him like he was a moron and defended her doing so all the time...it was awful. I let my sense…
