Having a guy with a hot body or a big dick is nice, but it's far from a requirement. I'm more into the feel of it and connecting with the guy than how he looks.

Nope. Every girl is different in that regard. I've also tried to make a habit of being as blunt as possible, because life has taught me repeatedly that guys are gigantic dopes when it comes to picking up on subtlety.

Cute means I dig his mannerisms or his appearance. Adorable means he does something so crazy endearing that I just want to smother him with hugs. A good/nice guy means he's friendly or genuinely nice (and not just being nice with an agenda).

How did we get over them? Time and effort. I don't expect anyone to get rid of their insecurities overnight, but I definitely expect people to get rid of them eventually. Otherwise, you're just an ineffectual human being who can't get past his own bullshit. And I'm sorry, but you have to truly suck as an individual if you're carrying insecurities around with you for a lifetime. It'd be the height of pathetic for a man in his thirties to be worrying about his penis size, or a man in his fifties s…

Again, we're not closed off at all to each other. We're more intimate with our histories than anyone I've ever been with. But to say that we still have insecurities is just ludicrous. I dare you to find a single thing I'm still insecure about, and the same with him. Truth is, when you reach a point of emotional maturity, you just stop being insecure. Things like your age, your weight, your appearance, your value as a person, what other people see in you... They all stop being tender spots. And w…

On the other hand, maybe you're a bit traumatized. It sounds like you had some really bad experiences, i'm sorry that you had to deal with that. Honestly though, your current relationship doesn't really sound like a normal relationship either. It sounds like a bit of a rebound from those unhealthy ones to something the complete opposite. Something that I would bet doesn't sound appealing to most people. Those examples I gave happened years ago, and I've been in my current relationship for a litt…

It's one thing to be slightly self-conscious about your receding hairline, or your spare tire, or your crappy job. I'd say that's normal. It doesn't really affect your life or mine, so I don't care if you're open and up front about those. But far too often, I've seen men use that as an excuse to open the flood gates and lay out all their problems for everyone to see. Not only is that extremely unattractive on its own, but I've seen where that leads, and no good can come of it.

That's putting it lightly. I have some measure of experience dealing with insecure men.

Wrong on all accounts. They weren't the stereotypical assholes people warned me about; by all accounts, they were normal, highly intelligent, well respected people. Even my parents liked them. I never had the standard "bad boy" fixation that so many young girls possess. We had real honesty in our relationships. But it was when I got honest with them that things turned to shit. It usually started off with something totally benign and innocent: "am I the biggest you've ever had?" I respond honestl…

It's a colloquial term for the more commonly known "nice guy" where I come from. "Nice guy" is too pleasant a term for those scumbags. There's not much of a difference as far as I'm concerned. If he takes active measures to rid himself of his insecurities and doesn't bring them into the relationship, I have no problem with it. But a guy who takes those insecurities and feels like because he's in a relationship with me, that somehow gives him a right to dump them in my lap? Uh uh. No fucking way.…

I wasn't the one who decided toughness and stoicism were desirable traits. You can blame millions of years of evolution for that. In fact, before experience taught me better, I was very much behind men being open with their feelings and eschewing traditional masculinity for a more "enlightened" way of thinking. And then I got what I asked for. I'll tell you right now, there's nothing like dealing with an insecure, emotional man to immediately erase any sense of desire for men to get in touch wit…

No way. Do you have any idea what a fucking nightmare it is to have to put up with a man like that? To have to deal with a guy who needs constant reassurance, lest his ego completely fall to pieces? And then having to put up with the mood swings, emotional outbursts, and tantrums that go with it? Have you ever been subject to the insane jealousy that insecurity causes? Have you had to shell out cash from your savings to bail out a man who was so insecure that he assaulted someone he thought was …

Oh god, no! No, no, no. Whatever you do, do not follow this guy's advice. There is nothing more unattractive than an insecure guy. I've had to put up with so many of them over the years, even the faintest hint of insecurity just puts me off completely. I have zero patience for that crap anymore. Guys, get your shit together. If you're insecure about something, work on it. Don't just sit around thinking it's okay to continue being insecure. That is totally not an okay thing to dump on someone.

Estrogens (estrone, estradiol, estriol, and estetrol) are steroids and compounds that control gene expression. The chemical compound that you're probably referring to (the one that's responsible for attachment emotions in relationships) is called oxytocin. So right there your scientific hypothesis runs into the error of its chief experimenter lacking a working knowledge of biochemistry. The rest is just basic anthropology and offers little of consequence to the part I'm actually interested in: w…

The scientific method. Really. Okay, please, enlighten us with how you intend to perform your study on the effects of jerking a woman around in an attempt to get her to be "interested in you for life". I assume you're going to use a double-blind procedure? Have you gotten your control group all selected? A hypothesis written up? And of course I assume you have a panel of experts ready to review your work for bias and consistency? Please, do tell.

I highly doubt you've actually used peer-reviewed, controlled experiments to test your theories in any way that even remotely resembles scientific. That one girlfriend in college who you jerked around doesn't count. You generalize women in such a way that flies in the face of even basic psychology. Even a first year psych major could debunk this bullshit you're preaching. Hell, even a lawperson with a copy of Please Understand Me could debunk it. It's not even remotely grounded in facts. And mor…

Okay, I didn't get to read the original post, but from what Jack told me and what I've read from this thread, I can safely say that you've gotta be incredibly stupid to think we crave being jerked around like that. If some asshole tried to yo-yo me like you seem to be suggesting to people, I'd tell him to take a hike so fast it'd make his head spin. Seriously, you've gotta have some severely fucked up views on women to ever think this is a good idea... like, on any level.

I'm just saying... If I was basically saying I wanted to wait a bit, and a guy suddenly stopped everything and said, "That's quite the turn off.", there's no chance I'd ever sleep with him. I can't stand it when guys try to pull that manipulative guilt trip bullshit.

I'm pretty sure if a guy tried to seduce me with small talk, I'd be so completely bored with him inside of a minute that I wouldn't even consider him a romantic possibility.

I know. I just had to give you shit for it. ;) You should tell everyone the story about how you picked me up at the Starbucks I used to work at... although I did kind of make it easy for you by offering you free coffee beforehand...

I've had people try to read my palm or show me magic tricks a lot. I've also gotten the "you've got a piece of lint on your shirt" line a bunch of times.

I appreciate you not using my real name, but Chloe? Are you trying to tell me something by using my dog's name? :P You also left out the whole conversation we had with him about body language at the bar. His posture kept shrinking every time you spoke up until I pointed it out. I think you really intimidated him.

They're out there, at least in my experience. The problem is when you find an ideal man like that (one who is totally in control without being controlling, who is a perfect lover and listener without being subservient, etc.), you're pretty much left with one course of action if you want to keep him around: be willing to share. Because men like that don't want just one girl. They know they're hot shit, and that confining themselves to just one person is totally beneath them. And while they'll alw…

Good. You can use Wikipedia. Now explain where I used a straw man at any point. All I did was call you out on your bullshit when you said every woman in a bar is approachable.

First of all, its called a straw man, not a straw dog. I'm not making an effigy of you for the purposes of humane sacrifice. And second, do you even know what a straw man fallacy is? Trying to throw around big words without even knowing what they mean isn't helping your case any.

Struck a nerve, did I? Well, don't let it get you down, squirt. I'm sure there are some sorority girls with daddy issues who'll eat that bullshit right up.

My god, you are so gamma it's astounding. All you can do is blame everyone but yourself for your own mistakes. You're the one intruding, but it's the woman's fault for dressing like that and giving you the wrong impression. It couldn't possibly be the fact that you just suck at reading people. You sound like a date rapist. It must just eat at you that not every single girl wants your nuts. After all, anyone who points out that fact is automatically an "angry, self-entitled little trout". I'd tel…

Who says we were dressed up for you, or even dressed up at all? Nice clothes are not an invitation for you to come over and start gabbing at us like we know you. If I'm out and I want strangers to talk to me, I'll just go by myself, or if I'm with friends we'll stand in an open area so you can stand with us. If I'm at a table with my friends, that's all I'm doing: being with friends. Contrary to your opinion, when women go out, most of the time they're not looking to meet men. Your game needs so…

This is both presumptive and stupid. If I'm out with my friends at a bar, there could be any number of reasons why I'm there, and none of them involve having strange men with aspirations to be Russel Brand talking to me. I've lost count of the number of times I've had to tell people like you to fuck off because they were interrupting when they were unwelcome. Not every table is fair game.

Yeah... I don't find polos on guys all that attractive, to be honest. They either make you look like you're really young, a nerd with no fashion sense, or somebody who just got off work and hasn't changed yet. Now a button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up the forearms? Mmm...

I don't mind a guy with an ego. It can actually be really hot on the right person; but fake-ass PUA types and Jersey Shore-looking gym rats make me gag. I have absolutely no problem kicking them to the curb.

Not to shit all over this person's article, but... I actually do take some twisted pleasure in rejecting certain guys who are all about projecting their egos. It's really satisfying to have a gym rat with a low cut v-neck t-shirt come up to me and try to pick me up, and then immediately shut him down and force him to hit on the chubby chick further down the bar.

I know it's not really a physical cue, but I think laughter is the biggest one. Some things I'll do and I won't even notice. The guy I'm seeing right now is more knowledgeable about this sort of thing than I am, but I know he's said that If I'm interested in someone, I'll tilt my body towards them. This might help?
