I was hoping they would try to keep me and at least throw a couple of thousand on my salary. See this is not that kind of position. I'd be sitting at an office with a button up and tie, staring at a computer screen for 8 hrs + a day, doing queries over and over, with people who I felt little connection with during the interview process.

I guess I technically could but I don't know how to go about monetizing my skill set aside from maybe signing up to like freelancer and doing college kid's homework. Most companies that have the needs for SQL work have IT teams that handle it. I'm sure there are consulting or contract opportunities out there but I'd have to look into it.
