I tend to agree with you, I've definitely had some limited success through almost pure, nonverbal communication. However, if you want DaygameCoach's creds, he gave his website and PUA name in the first comment. I actually haven't. This was more my line of thought. I considered my opener a direct approach because the words make clear my interest in her and I make sure that my body language leaves no doubt as to my intentions. I do see where DaygameCoach and 8sweettooth8 are coming from though. I've tried more direct openers but like Daygame said, these work better when you are already getting IOIs... The wording of my example is a little less threatening so it seemed to work better in cold approaches.
