For some reason, there aren’t a lot of south Asian men in western countries who aren’t considered “conventionally attractive” by western standards. So that might be why people are so brutal to south Asian men when it comes to dating and stuff. Especially online

There’s an argument to be made that the people we see as “normal” were the ones that were given the resources and support necessary to succeed while the “abnormal” people were the ones who were immediately ostracized, bullied, and basically given nothing to build upon And this alone has major ramifications in terms of cognitive and social development. How can anyone expect to try and “put themselves out there” when they were bullied and ridiculed at every turn? They had no one to turn to, no one…

People think bullying builds character. It does the opposite. Bullying destroys people. And it takes a long ass time and a lot of concentrated effort to heal

When you get picked on a lot and end up being the butt of people’s jokes (especially if you’re the one getting asked out as a joke), whenever someone’s nice to you, you automatically start to overthink. “Are they just being nice to me for the sake of being nice? Do they actually like me? Is this another joke?” It gets in your head and fucks with you.

Past experiences being harsh can also play a role. For example, if you’re someone who got asked out as a joke a lot, you might think the other women are joking too and it can do a number on your self esteem.

TL;DR for those who didn’t read/understand the OP The physiques you’re attracted to take a lot of time and effort to achieve and maintain. And more often than not, you underestimate just how much time and effort it takes to achieve and maintain it. This applies for everyone imo, not just women. We men also don’t understand how much time and effort women take in maintaining their appearances too

Tbh I don’t understand how many people are misinterpreting this post. It seems very straightforward to me. To build and maintain any kind of physique, it takes a lot of time and effort. Muscle mass or lack thereof is irrelevant. Genetics is also a huge factor, but it’s also absurdly complicated and we also don’t know just how much genetics impact your physique vs your training/lifestyle so I’m not gonna discuss too much about it

Honestly, how many times have we seen the ridiculous standards for men get called out as ridiculous? It feels like every time someone tries, they get ridiculed

Yet people see absolutely nothing wrong with this double standard. Hell, they probably don't even see it as a double standard

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
