Quick update. We had that talk yesterday. It hurt a lot and I cried for two hours afterwards. But still it was good for both of us. We spoke again and I could at least partly explain why I left. I took responsibility and she didn't feel like she was being thrown away like a piece of garbage. Because that wouldn't have been fair after such a long, mostly good relationship.

Thank you for your answer. I consider it only fair to allow her this last conversation. I left and she probably doesn't understand the world. Sure it will hurt me too, but I will get over it. On the other hand, I would be very grateful for a final conversation if she had left me.
