You train it, like anything else. You put yourself in controlled willpower-using situations (like training a martial art, or a sport, or lifting) and force yourself to do things you don't want to do. Your willpower will be drained for the rest of the day, so you avoid willpower draining situations as much as possible while you recover. Rinse and repeat.

I'm with you. Even from a purely selfish stand point, it feels good to do stuff like that. And other people may see a small glimpse of your compassionate side. For me, small glimpses like that are killer because 90% of the time I'm a very callous person. I would have done the same.

She isn't making me miserable. Really? Reread that. Don't keep her in your life just because she isn't making you miserable. Keep her in your life if she's a net positive, nothing else. Sex will come and go. There are things out there that are a million times better than sex. The most fulfilled I've ever felt was 3 years ago when my college sports team won a national championship. Sex will never compare to that. But maybe making my first million will. Or winning an MMA title belt. My point is th…

How old are you? I went through a phase like that when I was 15,16. It will come and go, but the IDGAF attitude comes from actually caring. You care about your money. You care about your friends and family and girls. The difference is that you care about yourself the most. You know that your happiness is at stake with everything you do. You use that to your advantage, knowing that life (and relationships) is a numbers game. You'll be happy with the right life and the right people surrounding you…

First off, speak to other men with fully formed words. The acronyms and texting lingo are great for women, it creates distance. That being said, looking through your post history you seem like a high schooler just now figuring out what it takes to be self confident. Thats great! It takes different things for different people. I strongly suggest reading the sidebar before posting another post here. Your questions would be answered very quickly. This is known as a Shit Test and while you could hav…

Obviously the Stoics are good, I really liked Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, and Hagakure by Yamamoto Tsunetomo. Along with Hagakure (if you start liking Eastern philosophy), I think everyone should read Tao Te Ching. The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi is also a really good one, and so is The Unfettered Mind by Takuan Soho.

Good, man. Identifying the source is the first part and is hard to accept. You're at least starting down the right path, but the hardest part is moving from step one to step two. The next part is doing it. Sounds like you have a plan, make sure you follow through with it. A good book for stuff like this is Resilience by Eric Greitens. It's a collection of letters written from one Navy SEAL to another about depression and PTSD. Very well written and I think would really teach you something. Good …

We've all been through shit. Talk about emotional abuse as much as you want, but if we (I'm 21, so it sounds like the same age) were born 60 years ago our dumbasses would be at fucking war. I'm not discounting that she's said some fucked up shit, what I'm saying is part of being a man is forgetting that and moving forward. Every single person has dealt with things. Some worse than you could ever imagine. TRP is not the Victimhood Olympics, hop on facebook if you want that. Shave your head and po…

That is true, I'm not as "into" it as I used to be. Whether or not I started it, I don't know and don't care. I will say though that she's been treating me worse and I probably haven't been reacting how I need to. So I guess another way to phrase the question would be, can I reasonably expect her to revert to treating me with the respect she used to, or am I working out of such a hole now that it'd be better to just cut my losses? In my experience, once a man is seen as beta he has to work 10x h…

No, but if you retire and turn into a piece of shit, then you do. The savage military guys I know who are still savages use the military background to augment their personality. For example, I know a guy who's a 3-stripe BJJ black belt (which means he's been training BJJ for ~25 years), an ex-marine, ex-SWAT, and has a few MMA fights under his belt. That's all well and good, but since he's still an absolute beast of a man, it all still applies and makes him one scary motherfucker. If he was now …

I can't upvote this enough. Ignoring bullies won't make them go away, but turning the environment (the people you two associate with) against them will. He's only doing it for social validation. If people begin to "take your side" he'll back off. Or he'll double down and nuke himself.

Yep! I do it all the time with mine and it not only makes her insecure about losing me, it makes her want to try harder to impress me. She just recently started tanning nude, which she (says, and i'm inclined to believe her) shes never done before. She's also started eating better, drinking less, etc etc. All you gotta do is get attention from other girls. I 100% agree with this and it's my problem with my current LTR. After I committed, she's gotten more and more pushy and less and less likely to accept any blame for things she's done. I've caved a few times when I shouldn't have, but that doesn't mean her acting like a cunt is entirely my fault. Sometimes, she's just a cunt. Thinking about dropping her soon.

Huh. So you're saying that no matter what I do, it's never gonna work unless my intentions, words, and actions are 100% aligned? That reminds me of Models, and I like it. I hadn't thought about that in a while. I haven't been willing to take the L with this one, maybe if I am willing to lose her it'll turn it around and I won't lose her. Or if I do, I won't care cuz she wasn't right for me anyway.

I'm currently in an LTR that I think is falling apart because of that exact thing (opening up the guts). I went through some real shit recently (little brother attempted suicide a week and a half ago, plus some other stuff before that) and I've broken down to her a few times. Every time I do, she pushes at my boundaries more and more. Today it was "I hate that you always tell me to go to the gym and to eat better, I don't need a coach. I can handle it." and then that turned into an argument that…

I have a strong belief that women aren't ruthless. I honestly don't think they have the capacity to be. I think they're just innocent little kids who just like to poke the bear. If they're unbearably selfish or ruthless or cruel, it's because they honestly can't comprehend things on the same level as us and legitimately don't understand what they do. Maybe that makes me a sexist. I dunno. Who fucking cares.

Gonna play devil's advocate here, the T-boost is actually 100% made up. I found out last summer that I had incredibly low testosterone so I read all of the literature I could find on it (Testosterone I/O is a great read) and turns out that that just popped up on the internet and never actually was proven. However, it could be stated that it has a placebo effect. Also, by you knowing that you are directly benefiting yourself in other ways, it could increase your testosterone indirectly. You do so…

Slowly working my way there. Problem is dad is massively in the anger phase and gets drunk and bitches to him about how horrible women are and so he probably wouldn't want anything to do with it right now. He is fairly naturally RP though, I've done what I can.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I just don't want things to change too much so that he feels pitied. But no, he's still lifting as much upper body as possible and it will heal eventually. He just can't play his sport. He been playing on it, but its been hurting and the doc just called today (during all of this shit) to tell my dad to keep him off the field. My bro doesn't know that yet. He's a really hard worker and super driven so I didn't expect this at all.

I would argue that it would be apocalyptic. But it wouldn't be the eye-opening that ended everything, it would be the end of everything that opened everyones eyes. Feminism doesn't exist in barbaria. Or maybe it'd be a chicken and egg thing. Who knows. But if it didn't, I think that there would be another layer past the current TRP that a true RP man would be forced to study and operate in.

This hit home. I started my TRP journey just over a year ago. A few months ago was the first time in a long time I could really consider myself happy. Storms come and go, but the things I've learned here have helped me build a foundation of contentedness I can always return to. For the first time in years, at the end of the day, I'm happy with myself. I got into an LTR about 2 months ago, eager as I was to share this happiness with others. I thought I could bring her up to join me, but I didn't …

It's somewhat pointless, but the concept behind it isn't. Check out IM's Shit Test Encyclopedia and read his take on it. He refers to A&A as the "bread and butter of Rollo's theory of Amused Mastery." A&A is a specific strategy to beat shit tests, sure, but the goal is to hit a point where you no longer need to know that you're dealing with a shit test. It just becomes a part of your regular conversational dynamic, and that leads to amused mastery.

Something I'm currently struggling with is responding to a no. When she says no, my instinct is to take it as token resistance and ignore it. We've fucked a few times that way and she's loved it every time. Sometimes it's a hard no, and I never know what to do and always just feel like a fool. What's the move here, just say "ok" and go do whatever?

I know. I'm a very cynical person myself. I'm letting her see the beta side, but in bed it's a whole other story. She's always got bruises on her hips and thighs. I have a theory that if you fuck like a monster you can be the most beta bitch boy you want and she'll stick around. I'm not gonna test that on this one, but it's worth looking into. I know for a fact that you can get away with more.

I agree with this. My current LTR looks at me like I'm her whole world, even though I'm (she says, and I'm inclined to believe her cuz I've known her since we were like 13) her 5th. She says I'm the best lay shes ever had, and while I generally write that off as bullshit, her actions speak for her. I do have a feeling though that when this inevitably ends, I'll have alpha widowed her brutally bad. Such is life. EDIT: And I've seen the 1,000 Cock Stare a few times, it's honestly horrifying. I dunno, I think you can get some great stuff out of this. I enjoy hooking up with ex girlfriends, they're incredibly easy lays. However, if you go full beta to try to get back with her you're absolutely going to lose some self-respect. You have to maintain an incredibly aloof and alpha frame, with some sprinkled in allusions to "the good old days."

Exactly. I've heard somewhere around here that every girl has the "Fuck In the Alley" line. Every girl has a line where if a guy is above that line in SMV, she'll fuck him in the closest alley. For some girls, that line is exceptionally low. For others, it's pretty high. But they all have it.

I agree. There was a great post recently about how AWALT is essentially supposed to be interpreted as 'every gun is loaded.' Sure, not every girl is going to cheat or otherwise be a raging cunt. But every girl has the capacity to. Treat women the same way you treat guns - as if every one is loaded.

I've actually been struggling with that lately. I'm past the anger stage but I'm still seeing the worst in women. I'm trying to get to the point where I see it but also the best. Hard line to toe.

I see "alpha" as a very contextual thing. For instance, any college football player is an alpha. However, if he's out on the town with his buddy in the NFL, he's the contextual beta. Obviously still more of an alpha than the nerdy drone drinking his sorrows away. There's always gonna be someone more alpha.

I still enjoy the sport and competing, yes. I don't enjoy being as locked in to the team's schedule as I am. I've got 2-3 years left, depending on if I use my redshirt year (which I probably wouldn't, it'd feel weird to be the only one left from my class). If I had a more open schedule, I'd probably take the first semester mostly off and just follow whatever whims I get. I absolutely agree, I don't feel like I've wasted a minute. As far as finding joy in the sport, both but moreso that it feels like I'm a slave to it. I started playing relatively late; the guy I'm competing for a starting spot with has been playing for twice as long as I have. Because of that, taking his spot requires year-round, intense training. After doing that for 2 years, I just don't have the passion I used to. I don't want to revolve my entire life around it. The spring semester and a few…

On the finances note, it seems to be that the most attractive displays of wealth are the quiet ones. Owning a car, dressing well (even if its cheap, you look like you cost more if you're dressed well), etc. Don't ever pay for her unless she's earned it, but there's nothing wrong with letting her see you buy your boys a round. It demonstrates that you have the money to live comfortably but also that you're wise enough to not blow it on a trivial bitch.

This seems a lot like something Taleb would write about. In Antifragile, he talks about a barbell strategy. The barbell strategy can be applied to anything, and is essentially placing all of your resources at the extreme ends of the spectrum. For example, in investing, you would put 10% of your capital into penny stocks or other super high-risk high-reward interests. The other 90% would be super safe such as bonds and CD's. For a lifestyle, it would be exactly what you mention. A 10-day vacation…

I can second this with another example. I cut out all carbs over the summer (I've since added them back in and put some fat back on, but now I'm trying out IF and decided that I'd need the carbs. I'm debating taking them out again and coupling that with IF to see what happens.) and went from 16.5% BF to 12.6% BF in four weeks. Does it suck at first? Absolutely. But I was eating massive amounts of food because I was working construction as well as lifting and running 4 days a week and playing my …

That's an awesome answer, thank you. The more I frequent this sub the more I second-guess my decision to go to college, even though I know I'm in the top 10% of college students (no debt b/c inheritance, national champion athlete, STEM, out-of-state, 5-year track that includes a relevant minor, just spent a summer learning a relevant trade (electrician work) instead of a standard internship). From what I can tell, most students go to college because it's the safe route, not because they actually…

Girls want to be led. So lead. Don't give her the illusion of control. That's a strategy for playing someone who's higher status than you. She should always believe you're higher status than her. So don't give her the illusion. If you're creating any kind of illusion, it should be that you are in complete control even when you aren't.

It's only bad for an endgame because it has to be. You choose your own endgame. For 80% of us, it has to just be a springboard. A place that will change our lives by picking us up off of the paved road and dropping us square in the middle of nowhere. But after it drops us off, it drives away laughing and pouring out all of our water. Why? Because it has to. Because the only way to really learn to thrive is to learn to survive, then create your own path to thriving.

Your self-talk needs to do a 180. Telling yourself you're a loser is the only way you'll be one. I know that I've always progressed farther after a tough loss than a win. Failure is not the end of the world; the dull, gray life that you live when you're scared of it is.

Of course you have to win. There's a reason I've got a big, fat silver ring on my finger that says "National Champions" on it. I know how to fucking win. But you don't create a winning mentality by placing your own personal success on whether or not you win. You have to put yourself in a position to win before you can win.

I understand exactly what you mean. In the current feminist landscape, the "special snowflake" mentality always made it hard on me to open up to other guys because I always felt different. Also, it was considered really gay to be close with your male friends. It wasn't until I realized that people really are very similar until I started opening up. Just some food for thought.

You shouldn't do hard things because they build frame, even though that's a good side effect. You should do hard things because they are hard. If something's hard, that means not very many people do it. So when you do it, you've done more than most people.

This is great, the latter is exactly what my current roommate did. I've watched him lose his 6 pack over the course of the summer because his girlfriend said that she didn't like it. It's absolutely obvious to me that she just wants to stay comfortable and not have to work to keep him, but he doesn't see that. I like the absolute value thing you're getting at here, but I'm not sure I agree with the way you're using it. I do agree though that when a girl says something like this it's a red flag though. When I read the title of the article I thought you were going to make a point about how it doesn't matter whether you have negative or positive exposure to women. What matters is that you have it. For instance, if you go talk to a woman on the street and wind up offending her in some way, you're going to…

Cuckolding is more of a helpless thing. A beta male getting cuckolded is going to deny it because he just can't make himself realize the truth. It's when the girl fucks others but the man doesn't. This is more of a mutual agreement between partners that they're both gonna fuck other people anyway, so why not do it together. That way you can enjoy it together and it might actually bring you closer.

I see your point. Normally, I would agree. However, it ended because I moved away and it made way more sense for her to turn into a plate whenever I see her, which is maybe 1 month out of the year tops. I ended it because I wanted to. In that specific case, yes, the output didn't match the input. Since then, I just haven't met a girl I've wanted to be in an LTR with.

Check out Unbroken. They just made a mediocre movie about it, but the book itself is absolutely unbelievable. The lessons in it aren't in-your-face like a lot of common quoted RP books are (Book of Pook, No More Mr. Nice, etc) but it really goes into what it takes to really be determined and not let anything get in your way, all while carrying a shit eating grin on your face.

From my experience, the only times you ever lose fat and put on muscle are when you're just starting out. If you really are doing both and have been consistently for a while then I'd really like to know more about your diet and workouts. And there's a lot more you can do if you get really into it. Tracking macros, metabolic rate, calorie intake, cutting out different foods, adding foods, adding an extra day per week, changing your split, etc

Definitely can confirm this: member of a college sports team, when we go out together we all help eachother more than anything. It's the kind of wingmanning where you're so wrapped up in having a great time with the guys you struggle with every day that the broads notice it and want in, you don't even have to try because you really don't even want to try, getting laid is just a cherry on top of a great night with your brothers.

You can't lose fat and put on muscle at the same time unless your workout nutrition is 100% on point (Pro Tip: it isn't). Focus on putting on lean weight, and the subsequent growth in your metabolic rate will help your fat come off easier when you cycle over in that direction.

Holy fuck, I just realized I've been experiencing the same thing with an LTR turned plate of mine. We both left for college, and I became a college athlete (hence getting stronger, fitter, more attractive, etc) and she just kept doing the same thing she did in high school, except with more partying. Everytime I see her, she's put on just a few pounds (not much, but just enough that I notice she isn't what she used to be) whereas I've packed on more muscle and lost more fat every time. Just a few…

I agree with this. I have similarly wasted a good amount of time playing video games and agree they're a waste of time. However, I've always got one in waiting for those nights after an exhausting day where most would go to their favorite television show. The way I see it, TV and video games are both wastes of time. However, games are more engaging and can actually have some benefits (don't have time to find it now, but some study somewhere found that video games had an impact on problem solving…

I would also recommend doing another physical activity besides just lifting, a martial art / boxing, rock climbing. This is huge. If you have a reason for lifting other than just getting stronger, your motivation will be much higher and you'll have a lot less trouble getting to the gym.

I've never done any martial arts (I plan on picking up Muay Thai and BJJ this summer) but from my 3d-party perspective they tend to polarize people. If you already have a badass mentality, you're just gonna get more badass. Solid point. I don't have a nice car, but it's a stickshift and I absolutely love driving it, so for me it's like letting her into a small part of my world. IMO, the best way to break through a plateau to just focus on always doing something better. If you can't ever get above 8 reps with the same weight, make those same reps better. Do them slower, or with a pause, or don't let your form slip one bit. If even that doesn't work, try doing a different lift for 3 or 4 weeks that still works the same muscle. I don't change my program until it doesn't work anymore.

I might be too late depending on your time zone, but take her for a drive out of the city. Turn on the radio, find some music you both like, and cruise. If you know of some back roads you can fly down, take her there. Get her adrenaline up. Roll down the windows if it's warm enough. It's a lot of fun for both of you, man. If you drive a stickshift you earn double points.

Carbs are better than fat for peri-workout nutrition, and high carb rest days can really help you refuel for your work days. The way I learned is to pretty much have a limit of carbs + fat, and hit that limit with either one, but which one you pick is situational. I like slow-burning carbs (oats) in the morning, fats (milk) after sprints, carbs after lifting, and carbs the night before a day with both. Obviously it's not perfect for everyone, but I wouldn't say that fats are always better then c…

I do an athletic full-body split 3 days a week. By that I mean I do very little isolation work (honestly you don't need iso work until you're pretty strong as it is) and most of my lifts are in the 3-8 rep range, as well as a lot of conditioning work (short, fast, intense as fuck). Ideal progress is entirely dependent on your goals and current situation. It's really all about your dedication. I get very mentally worn out when I lift 5 times a week, so I stick to 3-4 and I'm going 100% the entire time I'm in there. I'm also very active outside of the gym so that's probably a good reason for why 5 seems to be too much. However, I see better results than a lot of other people doing 5 days a week because a lot of amateur lifters fall victim to the tendency of "doing as much as you feel" instead of a constant slow progression. The whole 20-80 thing refers to sex, not individuals. For example, my senior year of high school I was in my last LTR. I was having more sex than all my 4 closest buddies combined. Why? This is very well put. I strongly believe that as a culture we are weaker than we have ever been. Sure, cultures don't accept everyone, but that's what made them strong. You're right, it is a full time job. I'm not saying everyone needs to eat that much. I'm saying that if you're training well and seeing any gains, you don't need to find a better supplement, you need to eat more food. It's better to eat 6 meals that are a little smaller than it is to eat 4 large meals. It's a simple and well-known fact that if you're burning more calories than you're taking in you're gonna get smaller. And usually, about 2/3 of the weight you lose under those circumstances is mu…

We don't have a war, we don't have a movement, we don't have a New World to explore, we don't have the moon to reach. Our own society has fucked us out of reasons to grow up and become Men. The biggest struggle most 'men' these days face is how to get and keep a girl. And the way that Men of the Greatest Generation did that? They …

Two of my favorite quotes about prostitution: "The biggest difference between paying for sex and not paying for sex is that paying for it is a lot cheaper." "I'm not paying them for sex, I'm paying them to leave." I definitely agree with what you're saying. It's not nearly as good, but it makes the rest easier.

Ever gotten a bj from a girl who felt obliged to do it? It's completely different and not nearly as good as a bj from a girl who is absolutely stoked to have your dick in her mouth. There is a definite difference when a girl does what you want because she feels like she has to than when a girl does what you want because she wants to give you what you want.

It depends on the situation, but I generally agree. My first girlfriend (and most serious one, we dated for quite some time) and I were best friends for years beforehand. I always wanted her, but fucked up my chance when I first met her (I was exceedingly BP). I had some other girls in the meantime, but none even measured close to her. I pedestalized the fuck out of this chick. Anyway, we finally started dating and it wasn't as great as I thought it would be (as you would expect) but the sex was…

I agree with this. I like to use the standard deviation rating as well, with an 8 being 3 standard deviations up from a 5. IMO, a 9 is the hottest girl you have ever laid eyes on. a 10 is that girl, but with a personality that would make even a 1 attractive. I view a 10 as a girl who's a 9 but doesn't believe/act like she's a 9. They don't exist in urban America. The only time I've run into girls who have that kind of "flair" (even though I wouldn't call them 10s, just girls who don't use their …

I'm relatively new here, so please, correct me if I'm wrong, but from my understanding, TRP isn't made for just ONS's and plate spinning. 90% of the people here agree that marriage is a bad idea, but that seems to be more based on the current state of law concerning it than anything else. I would say to work on your long game, and eventually you'll run across a girl you're actually interested in an LTR with, and then make that happen. I (and most others) have experienced my best (and for me, mos…

A great baseline is 1g of protein for every lb of lean mass, and that can kinda tail off for the heavier of us. (200 is great for 220lbs, especially when you're just starting out.) If you're just starting though, I'd focus more on cutting out shit food and hitting the gym habitually. Once you no longer have to force yourself to go to the gym every day and start enjoying it (you'll enjoy it at first, then you'll hate it, THEN when you start to enjoy it again) you should start focusing more on die…

Hit a PR every single day. I don't mean a new 1RM or 3RM, but if you bench 205 for 3 reps one day, do it for 4 the next time you bench. Or if you complete 3 sets of 4 one day and it takes you 15 minutes, try doing it in 14 minutes next time. Always find a way to be better than last time. Take it day to day and you'll see massive strength and size gains. And if you're plateauing in certain lifts, try doing different versions of the same lift. For example, switch from a barbell bench to a dumbbell…

Not enough people realize this. The "Butt Wink" is a real thing and if you're squatting past it you're going to hurt yourself. Here's what it looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COr2Pr0yYvY At the very bottom of his squat, his hips come forward and his back rolls. When you do this, you're ruining the stability of your spine and making a back injury much more likely. Here's a great article on squat depth, from T-Nation, one of my favorite strength/bodybuilding websites. http://www.t-natio…

Okay, I guess I didn't clarify enough. I meant 1st world cultures, not 3rd world mutilation/sacrifice/tons-of-weird-and-nasty-shit cultures. We're definitely superior to those. Totally my bad. However, I do think that most 1st world cultures are relatively equal and we all can learn from studying each of them, and flat-out ignoring someones modern culture is willfully ignorant and helps no one, especially when you're doing it in this context and looking for a reason to get butthurt. And I also a…

Exactly. The culture over in Europe is entirely different regarding nudity. Whereas our culture restricts nudity to rated R movies and very late-night TV broadcasts, and public nudity is very recently becoming a somewhat-tolerated thing (shirtless women! what a great step!), over in Europe the views on sex and violence are flipped. I know for a fact in Germany (and I would assume a good amount of the rest of the continent) the rules are way more lenient about nudity, so much so that you'll see i…

Well, I guess that's true. Would you suggest just not even mentioning it, with any women?

I've been trying to work on that, I just felt like by apologizing I was separating myself from it. Looking back, that was really stupid (I was also drunk, so that didn't help.) and I realize now that I shouldn't have even mentioned it other than MAYBE saying "hey, its a bummer we didn't work out." and left it at that. Regardless, I'm not gonna bring it up to her again. And on your note of rooting out the habit, I also pretty often say I'm sorry even when I'm not, for no reason other than old hab…

I guess my first post was deleted cuz I just made the account (didn't have a throwaway for RP, needed one) but anyway, I'm on a college sports team. I'm required to lift 3 days a week, plus practice twice and conditioning once a week. (Its the off season, during season that turns into practice 6 days a week plus games). But yeah, having a team makes it so, so easy to do it. A great thing to do for anyone trying to get into lifting more would be to get a buddy (or even do it alone, which is proba…

I'll hop on. I've tried NoJerkNovember and always bitched out about a week and a half in. I'm refusing to do that this time. Vices/Goals: *No Masturbation *No time-wasting websites (facebook, twitter, TheChive, and Reddit front page) *No video games *Get my homework/study habits together and fix my grades *Don't get sucked into my old relationship when I go home for break, as I continue to do against my own better judgement. I feel like that's a lot, but they all work together. The less things I…
