I’d say one huge difference between the two is in OP’s list the overarching theme seems to be “work on yourself and the women will come” whereas the 1950’s list is “your goal in life is to please your husband”.

Yes, this is the problem is the intent/motive of each party isn’t clear and unless that gets cleared up appropriately, there’s a great chance it will lead to misunderstandings that unfortunately start to get peoples’ feelings involved.

While I would definitely agree that there is a lot of brainwashing going on showcasing idealistic and largely unrealistic romantic relationships, I think the problem I have with the previous comment and yours is viewing relationships as only a zero-sum game. The “There is only victory or defeat” and calling men in relationships “exploited” gives the impression that it’s a fight or battle between the two partners in a relationship. Yes everyone is looking for something from a partner, and also ne…

Wow holy shit a reasonable, non-rhetoric driven point on PPD!

Damn that’s a pretty cynical view of relationships

I think I’m still not 100% sure I know what you mean. It sounds like you’re saying that being in a win-win scenario with a stranger reduces the number of intimate win-win scenarios there are. I’m still not clear on what you claim the mechanism that causes this effect is.

Why does urbanization reduce the amount of win-win scenarios?

Like others have mentioned in this thread, ideally in a romantic relationship he would be able to provide love, companionship, comfort, a sense of safety, etc. Now as you have also pointed out women can also receive that from other women and their families. What you are pointing out is that women don’t need a man to survive in the world like they have in the past, which is also true. This means that relationships are an option and not a necessity. Since this is the case, a man does need to bring…

No I didn’t say that was the only value they had, but the bare minimum value. Of course men do provide much more investment to society than just sperm.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/21 02:41 AM

Yes but they still require “male investment” to society.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/21 01:33 AM

Where is that sperm coming from my friend? Hint: Not a woman.

I’m sure there are plenty of women who enjoyed it and/or still derived pleasure from having sex with men. Of course they do, the reason sex feels good is because of evolution. People who enjoy sex would likely have more sex than those who don’t. This means there would be a greater proportion of “enjoys sex” genes in the next generation than the previous. Give it enough time eventually almost everyone will enjoy it.

Would you care to elaborate on your point? You seem to be implying there are only a finite number of win-win romantic situations in the world.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/07/21 11:37 PM

Society needs men at the very least because you need men and women to make children.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
