I feel like momentum is key. The best relationship I had where I was assertive began with me taking a books advice too seriously, but it worked. "What are you doing right now?" Her: "Nothing, why?" "I was going to go see Lost City of Z and grab food for my cheat day. I'm taking you with me, so get ready and I'll be there to pick you up in an hour." It worked like a charm and the assertiveness flowed from that point.

I went to ONE swing dancing lesson that was advertised on MeetUp[.]com and learned enough to go to a dance here in Cleveland.
