I would not agree with that, but I hear you.

You're not my enemy. And we've heard you loud and clear. It's not about painting it through a gendered lens. You keep misunderstanding. It has nothing to do with creating division. This is just an issue that men are experiencing (and women, so they talk about it and their feelings in their spaces). And this subreddit is a place for men to talk. About what they feel. And no, it is not a party. This is a place for emotional support and mental health regulation for men.

When someone is trying to talk about an issue they've experienced, it's not unnecessarily gendered. It is a universal issue but we are here to talk about it as men, experiencing it with men, with other men. It's a men's group to talk about men's emotions and experiences. Saying "this is unnecessarily gendered" is saying "hey, you don't need to talk about this". It's dismissive. We're not saying only men experience this (maybe some are, but I'm not). And even if they're saying that, you blowing i…

My man we're literally talking about it here. If you wanted more studies, you could have just said so. There was nothing wrong with OP's post.

Well we could just say nothing instead and....wait for statistics? I'm not sure what you want us to do. This made literally no sense. Take care.

It does. But in gendered spaces we mostly talk about one side of it. To let it out and get it off our chest. In a men's space we're mostly going to talk about men's thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I never denied that it happens on both sides. But in a men's space, we're going to discuss feelings and experiences from men's perspective. That's the point of the space.

Like, the 1800s. Ok man....we don't have statistics. So the best we can do is hear men out right now. I'm not sure what else you want me to say. Do you want to go conduct a study to collect some statistics? More power to you. I'm not really sure what to tell you.

In the early days of women's rights, nobody believed women either. There were no statistics. They still had to just start talking about it. We can't just make up statistics. This is the best we've got. And to a degree you have to not worry about what the other side is doing all of the time. It's not always about advocacy, sometimes it's just about getting it off of your chest.

When you need a space to talk about your thoughts, your feelings, and what you've gone through, that's never pointless. Men need their spaces. And by default, they're men. Who want to talk to other men. So it's not pointless that the space or the discussion is gendered. We need it.

That's fair. But I also think it needs to be considered that, most men don't report violence against them. They're afraid of being the one taken to jail (which can happen). They are afraid of being laughed at. They want to keep it a secret in some cases too because they're embarrassed about it. It's vastly underreported. Men are just not calling and reporting every incidence of violence against them. So the statistics will not reflect that reality that many men lived when it came to getting hit,…

If it's in service to each other, I think it can be a balance that creates a good relationship. If it's really 50/50. I've seen people in good marriages who really value each other. But as soon as it becomes "serve me, I'm superior"...... Then uh.....😐.......this is getting fucked up.....

He's allowed to just vent. He does not need a peer-reviewed study to accompany every post.

Agree but that being said... Women came together for each other and often have huge support networks now. We're never getting anywhere if we don't create the same. The women are not going to do it first, for us. They don't care enough. We are half of society. We have to make it happen for us.

Agree. And this is talked about consistently and at length in women's spaces, and that's fine. But this is a space where we are talking about women doing it to men. Because we need a space to talk about our feelings and our abuse as well. If you would like to talk about men doing it to women, there's spaces for that too. But I do agree with your point.

All of the work women have to do to take care of you. Like, if it's something that doesn't benefit them (they have to listen to your feelings or help you with something), it's mankeeping. Didn't you know you're just supposed to stay silent and always be of service to your partner no matter what? She must be comfortable 24/7 and the moment you cause her any discomfort, you are a burden to her.

It pretty much goes hand in hand with the term "Golden Retriever Husband". It's a misandric term, and I don't think that's being dramatic. You're calling him an animal. You think he's your servant and maybe even a little naive. Like, you own him. Like a dog. And you have to "train" him. And he does everything you say. It's unfortunately dehumanizing. Quite literally. And yeah, it's about power dynamics (not equal power at all), and trying to belittle him and make him into use for service, where …
