How many times have you visited the doctor this year?I did a presentation on this a few years back. There's a variety of factors that mean men don't go to the doctors. Parents: More often than not it's mum (mom) taking the child to the doctor. For my family, it was rare to see my dad to take me to the doctors, let alone for him to go himself. So from a young age doctors always were linked with mum. Normalisation: Young girls go to the doctor regularly from puberty. Where as there isn't any real reason for men to go to the doctors on a regular basi… | /r/MensRights | 12/08/13 01:29 PM
Do you agree with this?Short answer: No. Long answer: Considering the huge number of possible versions of feminism, to claim that feminism wants to help the issues that people see men facing is very naive. Whilst I know that there are feminists who sympathise and help, there are also feminists who actively oppose "us". It also ignores the fact that one of the reasons for mothers winning custody is the tender years doctrine, something that was introduced by feminism. There is also the fact that parts of feminism have e… | /r/MensRights | 15/06/13 07:51 PM
How do you guys feel about circumcision?Infant Genital Mutilation is wrong. If there is a genuine medical complication that requires circumcision to correct it, then it is no longer mutilation. I'm glad that you decided against getting your son circumcised OP, and assuming you're from America, you're contributing to making intact the norm in America (How crazy is that!?) I don't care what the infants gender is, what the cultural norms are, what your religion says you should do or that you prefer that. You do not damage your child for … | /r/MensRights | 11/06/13 04:43 PM
FDA's guidelines on safe consumption of tuna (given its mercury content): "Currently, there are no guidelines for people who aren’t women of childbearing age, nursing mothers, or children"Don't the default guidelines of the FDA (forgive the ignorance, UK here) contain information for that? As in, the default guidelines say "only eat x amount". In which case the default guidelines would be for men and women not of childbearing age, as it's the "normal" physiology as opposed to the altered. | /r/MensRights | 31/05/13 03:02 AM
Reading the responses in this thread is making me sick to my stomach...FGM = Female Genital Mutilation Type 1a = a form a FGM that is comparable to male circumcision. There are varying types of FGM (e.g removal of clitoris being type 1b). There are 4 types in total. They all fall under the umbrella term of FGM. Also. I'm not saying that circumcision is equivalant to FGM. I do believe that MGM is equivalant to FGM, where MGM would also have varying types. The circumcision to FGM comparison is an apples to granny smiths comparison. It would be like comparing all crim… | /r/MensRights | 31/05/13 02:50 AM
FDA's guidelines on safe consumption of tuna (given its mercury content): "Currently, there are no guidelines for people who aren’t women of childbearing age, nursing mothers, or children"I suspect the "women of childbearing age" is more to protect women who intend or may inadvertently get pregnant. Those 3 categories (if we assume the "childbearing age" is primarily aimed at the potential pregnancy) are mentioned as they have different physiology to the "default" (for lack of a better word). If the consumption of tuna was unsafe for men/women it wouldn't be approved, however just because it's approved for men/women doesn't mean it will be suitable for those 3 mentioned categorie… | /r/MensRights | 31/05/13 02:43 AM
Reading the responses in this thread is making me sick to my stomach...One thing that I found quite distubing was that it came across that the only reason they no longer have the death penalty is because of some mere technicalities. It implies, imo, that if they could get around that they'd be all for the death penalty. | /r/MensRights | 31/05/13 02:34 AM
Reading the responses in this thread is making me sick to my stomach...He is my son not yours. I personally prefer for him to be cut and his suffering of it was minimal and has long be forgotten by him The same logic can be applied to type 1a FGM. (N.B. In no way, shape or form do I condone any form of FGM) Modern doctors...like these...http://www.doctorsopposingcircumcision.org/ So the great news is when you have a son you have choice in the matter Actually when I have a son I'll let him make the choice unless there is a medical necessity (you know, not my persona… | /r/MensRights | 31/05/13 02:23 AM
Reading the responses in this thread is making me sick to my stomach...Well me and my girlfriend both like the looks of a circumcised penis better. Again until modern doctors say this is barbaric then families will continue to make this choice. You've been conditioned to accept that. Look at foot binding. It's not that the procedure itself is barbaric. For some it can be a genuine medical procedure, for other it can be a choice when they are old enough to make that decision. I really don't understand why you care about little boy's penises anyways that you have no … | /r/MensRights | 31/05/13 01:57 AM
Author can't get rid of his female stalker, writes book about it. Book review muses about her, with no defense for male victims of stalking. (Author also wrote novel about man framed for sex crimes agIt seems to be a disturbing theme that the media shows (the public in general also seems to show it). That when a woman commits a crime or her behaviour is socially unacceptable it feels inevitable that a question will be raised as to "what could have happened in her life to make her this way" or even that she must have a mental condition. You see comments like "she needs help" or "what must he have done to push her so far". With men as the perpetrator it's more often a statment of what he did, … | /r/MensRights | 18/04/13 07:50 PM
Mens Rights movement being smeared once again for troll comments, messages and doxxing. There's a possibility that some extreme MRAs took part in this deplorable behaviour. However they would be the equivalant of rad fems and their actions should not be blamed on MRAs as a whole. MRAs which, I hope, for the vast majority find this behaviour disgusting. | /r/MensRights | 16/04/13 04:03 PM
Why female circumcision and male circumcision aren't equivalent, and presenting as such makes us look like knee jerk feministsThat's not what they're saying, they're saying the reasoning doesn't matter, only that it was done. You've acted as though PWC is saying "FGM is the same as circumcision", they've not. The comparison of MGM being similar to FGM is fine. However the comparison of FGM to just male circumcision isn't right. It would be like comparing all crimes against women to just assault against men. It doesn't work. Male circumcision falls under MGM, along with castration etc. | /r/MensRights | 04/04/13 06:35 PM
