Currently 2 years after separation, 1 year post divorce. Same boat. Not crippling sadness like the beginning, but I'm almost constantly comparing current life to marriage life. I was hoping to feel free and in charge of my future, but I'm mostly just going day to day still. I've been in therapy the entire time. I know it's natural to miss the old life, but I'm tired of it still taking up so much mental space almost daily. I know I didn't chose this, it was chosen for me, but I'm still struggling…

Yea my lawyer said the same thing. Stbx is so sure she'll be able to force me out, it's irritating. I just keep saying not until a court orders it.

The whole different person thing is so legit. I'm just over a month past the initial "we're over" talk. I don't recognize her. Woman I married would be disgusted with the woman that's divorcing me.

The childish behavior does help a bit to get over her. At least it helps pull me out when the sadness waves come. I'm mourning the loss of the life I should have had, and the one I've had for 15 years. In the blink of an eye, it's all over.

Maybe I'll be able to do that one day.

I'm trying. Especially when I'm always made out to be the bad guy bc I'm the one focusing on how they need structure and routine now more than ever.

I look forward to viewing it that way. Right now it's disgusting seeing who she's become, shitting on all the years we had together. So disrespectful. But I remember the years. And I remember the memories. And I miss them. And when they surface, they hit hard. Very hard. I can't wait to have time heal me.

Jesus dude. I would have loved if she had to try to fix her hair for her job lol. Would have made my day. Only thing I have right now is leaving the cabinets open bc I know she hates it. Yea I've been told I never let her be who she wanted to be blah blah. Not true. She could never answer what that actual meant. She's super energized right now and I'm just waiting for it to run out.

Mine got her nose pierced last week! She's 36! also died her hair blue and purple...which whatever. It's all superficial. And she was all over social media going on how she's so much happier now. Um, maybe in time. But right now it's just an illusion. She's just promoting it to manifest it into reality. It's sad.

Thanks for the kind words. I try not to look at pictures. But they're still everywhere, so it's unavoidable. So hard to just flip the switch and not look at her as my wife anymore. She's so broken and she's spiraling. and there's nothing I can do to help anymore.

Yea uncouple from her is gonna be brutal. I know I'll be ok, but I want future ok me to come back and show me the proof. Ya know? Lol. Bc as true as it might be, future seems so dark and empty right now.

Lol. I'm no Chad, and always struggled with dating anybody before my marriage. And I'm definitely not subscribing to the red pill train of thought.

She feels like we will each be happier without the issues between us. And I'll be a better father. Yes, there are issues, but she's just not willing to work on them anymore. I think she's falsely using me as the target for the majority of her personal struggles right now. I know I can't try to convince her anymore. And I won't. I know I deserve someone who also chooses me. But right now, in this heartache, I wish it could still be her.

Ouch. This hits so close to home. We're both in our late 30s, so idk if it's midlife crisis yet or not. Idk. But I do know some of her mental issues that she's been working through are her wondering who she'd be if she wasn't married. It cuts so deep to hear that. Plus I also know about deep childhood trauma that has resurfaced for her and she hasn't even begun to learn how to handle that. This marriage ending might just be a byproduct of that. I dont know. Id just hate to see everything end jus…

Exactly. Feels like so much rejection. Why can't we continue to try and work things out? We've made it this far. I know sometimes it IS for the best, but right now it seems like it's all for the worst. Just becasue she thinks its for the best, does not mean it will be. But She's making the decision, and I don't know how to just let the chips fall and move on.

i wish one last vacation was on the table. But she's got her own issues and past trauma that she's dealing with (she's also in therapy for it). So knowing her as I do, she's made the decision that this is what she needs in order to find out who she really is.

Thank you. I'm trying to figure out how to get into my best life mode. And I struggle with anxiety already (already doing therapy) so I worry about things that are out of my control on a daily basis. So not being able to stop worrying about how she might be happy with someone else soon is just adding to the pile. again, I know i can't control other people, but I struggle with that already. ugh.

Thank you. I already have a therapist, and have been talking with friends and family. I'm also not drinking or doing drugs, and I still take care of myself with eating, etc. So far i'm good on those fronts. I recognize that being in contact like we have been is mentally harmful. So that's my biggest hurdle right now. I'm trying my best. I know it doesn't make sense but my heart is incontrol most of the time still. So when my brain gets a wave of acceptance, or starts to distance from her, my hea…

Yea, I know you can't control other people. But when other people's choices hurt other people, it sucks so much. I hope you and I can make it through this.

Logically I understand that. No I don't want to be with someone I have to convince. But my heart is torn to pieces right now and I just want to feel better.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
