How about you get over thinking your last name is special and finding actual problems to worry about?

Are you not fighting for parenting time? If not, you did abandon them. And discussing it with a 9 year old is gonna get you in trouble if you take it to court.

I hate my married last name but my ex insisted I take it. Now that I have a young child, I’m not doing all the leg work again and constant explanations to nosey people about why I’d have a differ last name. It’s hilarious to me that anyone feels that protective of a last name, honestly. Unless you came up with it yourself, you’re not unique and there are thousands potentially millions of other people with the same last name.

Don't not pay CS, no judge is going to take that well. That's terrible advice and loses any high ground you might have. Keep paying what you're ordered to (perhaps nothing else, but don't fck over your kids to get back at their mom), and document the violations and her not using her parenting time and then take her back to court for modification.

You're cheating on a fiance with someone much younger who you're also being dishonest with. Cool story bro, definitely marriage material 😂

The post says over a year and a half. OP, this is ridiculous. I'm a woman and your ex wife is being insane 😂. Unless there is something about your current gf like drug abuse, etc, then your ex can not like it all she wants, but she doesn't get to approve it or not.

Must be the standard for no minor children, but the only reference I can find for it is one firm's website. Everything else says that King county refers all divorce cases with minor children to mediation before you can request a trial date. No one I know has gotten an automatic date, but they all have children. I can speak from experience in Snohomish County divorce with children there is no automatic court date. It can drag on for years unfortunately.

When we filed in 2021 there was no automatic court date. I've been trying to get divorced for 2 years, it would have been nice if there was one! Perhaps it's because you didn't have children?

Exactly. It's not always immediate, especially the higher up you go in a company.

She wants sex but not kids. If you want kids, you need to move on. It's also difficult for a woman to get pregnant in her 40s naturally. That ship may have already sailed for her, without IVF, and someone who is already this negative about kids isn't going to handle IVF well either. If having kids is something you feel strongly about, you know the right choice, and it's not forcing someone who clearly doesn't want them, to have them. She may be a nice person generally but kids are exhausting and…

A court is very likely to side with your ex, if that's what you're asking. My child is 3, I understand your concerns but this is part of separation. Best of luck to you.

What you're describing here is right of refusal, and some people do that while their children are young, yes. But beyond that, unless you have strong evidence against someone your ex is having babysit...you're just spinning your wheels and creating conflict... and courts won't enforce anything against "I just don't like this person" nonsense.

It's just bizarre to me that you both have to check with each other on babysitters during your own time... especially with seemingly no history of abuse or neglect. Since you can't explain why you don't like this person watching your son.... it does come across as controlling, sorry. I think you're setting yourselves up for a lot of conflict in the future if you continue down this path.

I understand your concern about having strangers watch your son, unless they're vetted through a care site, etc. But this person has been in your exs life for a year and they're getting married? If that's true...why is them watching the child an issue? Do you have concerns about this person specifically? I'm trying to understand the current concern. I've heard of "right of refusal" but never "I have to personally approve every babysitter" making it through a court agreement unless there's histor…

Most mediators will not hold the session if you don't agree to boyfriend being there. I absolutely would not agree to it either.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
