I think that's total bullshit

Go for it, but be prepared to leave the group if it goes bad.

To me it basically equates to self esteem. Learning how to be confident, have passions, be outcome-independent.

No, it's not your looks you need to improve; you look fine. I'm saying you need to work on your self esteem, basically.

Have you ever heard of "inner game"? This is what you need to work on.

Shave your head. You can either embrace it or fight it, and I chose to embrace it, personally. I suffered for a while at first, but once I got used to it my confidence level got to the same or better, and I've done just fine with women. A lot of them like bald dudes, same as any other physical preference. Plus you'll never have to spend money at a barber shop ever again.

Dude, this is at least the fourth time I’ve seen you post this. Seriously, look into finding someone you can talk to about your extreme insecurity issues. Your self esteem is holding you back far, far more than your looks ever could

OK, so I have been doing improv for a few years, and this isn't an exercise I've ever heard of. I am actually having a tough time figuring out how improvising a story is going to help you in conversation, because telling a story isn't conversing, it's talking. What this exercise seems like to me is "practice making up a bullshit story," which is not what actual improv is. Improv is about connecting with another person, listening to them, and building something together. I don't see how me being …

Are you actually taking improv classes somewhere? I'm curious as to where you got the idea that improv is "making up a story from any word possible," as that's not really how I would describe it. Is this an exercise you got from a book, from a class, or...?

I had braces when I was 18, and I think my being self conscious about it had more of a negative effect than the braces themselves. There's nothing you can do about it, so don't give it too much thought. Just clean your teeth as well as you can while you have them on, and then be happy that you'll have straighter teeth the rest of your life. I might have been awkward when I had braces, but not having wonky teeth as an adult has been way worth the awkwardness.

For social acceptability, I go by the "half your age plus seven" rule.

She's an old friend of my mom, who died a few years ago Sounds like you need to switch from Facebook to a Ouija board.

Take an improv class or two. It's good for life in general, not just humor.

Yeah, all it is is coming up with stuff on the spot; improv is short for improvisation, after all. There's something about getting ready to walk on stage in front of a bunch of people and put on a show where I don't know what I'm going to say or do that translates into life confidence for me. That might be vague, but I can't put it more concretely than that. It's all about learning to be present and in the moment, and actually listen and react to what your scene partner is saying. Reacting fast …

I don't know much about how it relates to pick up, but I can tell you that improv classes changed my DNA; I am much more confident and outgoing since learning improv, and a better listener to boot.

I started balding in my early 20s, and I do better with women now that I shave my head than I did before. Could just be that I've grown and know more now, but there was definitely a time where my thinning hair was affecting my confidence. Some women don't like bald guys, sure, but a good amount do, and a good amount don't care either way.

See if there are some nearby motels that charge by the hour. There's a place near me that's $40/hour and has color-changing rope lights under the bed and mirrors on the ceiling. They know what you're doing in there.

This explains why I find the comedians/comedies I don't like to be terribly unfunny.

Hah! I didn't even catch that. And no. I might have been annoyed in person, but not online.

I actually overshare, if anything. Just the idea of someone making assumptions about me instead of asking irks me.

If it's obviously a joke then it doesn't bother me. I'd only be bothered by a guy who seems like he just read a book on cold reading.

I think the advice is good, but I think I'd actually dislike talking to the "good example" guy. I'd probably be thinking "Oh, I look like that type of person, huh? Thanks for making assumptions about me." I'd be much less annoyed by "Were you the kind of kid who was constantly watching the Discovery Channel?" Than "I bet you were one of those kids who was glued to the discovery channel 24/7."

Is it just that I was unlucky and found 3 weird girls in a row? If this only happened with 3 girls, that's a pretty small sample size.

Some of the comments on that article make me rage, people are saying that it's oppressive? How is it oppressive to let the foreskin's owner decide whether he wants to keep it?

But part of being male is the automatic feeling of team. If someone on the team screws up, we all take the hit. Don't kid yourself that men haven't earned some harsh treatment from the legal system. I usually agree with Scott Adams, but this part in particular seems like a use of the unrepresentative sample fallacy.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
