We got 2 kids in the house, I cant go to war with her. Someone has to be the responsible one for the kids.

What's worse realizing no one cares or realizing you never had anyone to care about you in the first place.. I didn't realize I was a loner with no friends until I started the divorce process and had no one to talk to.

Close people know 100% the truth, others I'm less close with just know we are done.

I brought this up when we talked about alimony/child support. That it all changes every time her situation changes. If she gets a room mate/moves in with someone and so on. That every time her financial picture changes then its back to court to renegotiate. I am not 100% sure if that is the truth, but she seemed worried when I said that.

Its fresh, she told me she wanted it last Friday and there is nothing I can do about it. I meet with a lawyer today. I think her lawyer meeting is still a week or two away still. I gotta look into support groups. Issue is we live in a small community, only about 1000 people, I will need to go about a half hour away to get to a small size city, they MAY have something. If I wanted to get to a normal size city, it would be about an hour drive. We moved to the middle of nowhere for the peach, but w…

Thats exactly what happened, my soical life just kept getting cut further adn further down. Until I had nothing left. She wanted me to spend every waking moment with either her or our kids. I ended up with no life of my own after several years. Now after 19years rebuilding is scary as hell.

What happens when you were in a toxic marriage for so long you lost you previous social life and currently don't have anyone you can call a friend?

I make $66k a year and she makes $39k I am not sure what we are doing at this point to be honest. We planned on going the mediation route, saying we could make it work. But I have a very rich and very smart family, me not so much, maybe I was adopted haha! My family reached out to others in our family that had experienced divorce and got into on how it works. After they discussed what happens in a divorce they called me back and said we are hiring you a lawyer, we are paying for it, don't ask qu…

Either not super simple, or I messed it up. Alimony says I owe $1,275.73 a month Child Support says I owe $1,218.96 a month Total of $2494.69 I bring home about $4400 a month Leaving me $1905.31 to be a single dad of 2 and survive? I cant find anything to rent for under $1000 in my area. Either fucked is putting it lightly or I did this wrong.. Do I really give her 45% of my income and I am expected to just make it and if I cant its my problem?

Got a meeting with a good attorney tomorrow afternoon. I honestly don't know if their relationship is beyond emotional, I know she has gone to his work to see him and even taken our kids with her, he works as a gas station cashier. She just plays it off as oh I need a Red Bull or need to pick up another vape. She claims nothing physical has happened, but did say if we were divorce she is running straight for him and wants him more sexually than she has desired me in years.

Is that something you can legitimately argue? I didn't think those kind of facts ever mattered. I am in a "no-fault" state.

No I see her fighting for money at this point because she knows it will be hard to survive on her income.

I guess I am scared to ask for beyond 50/50 because I want my kids to be with their mom, I want my kids 100% of the time but I don't want them to hate me if I attempted to go for more than 50/50.

Haven't set that up yet, as of right now, she said she wants 50/50 because the kids deserve their parents equally. That seems to be the best I can ask for myself. I have my first consult with a lawyer on Thursday, she is about 2 weeks out to meet a Lawyer. I was able to get one sooner, because I went outside of our small town, where she stayed in town.

“men give up their happiness for family and women give their family up for happiness” never heard it before, but now I see it.

Initially I though the same, young means more open minded and less set in their old style of methods that may not be as valid in todays world.

See I got no tools to cope, it was just a ok here is the issue lets move onto the next one now. I never looked into her much, but she seemed young, she looked early to mid 20s so maybe she as a therapist just doesn't have enough experience.

I guess I should clarify, I am talking about individual therapy for myself now that the divorce is moving forward. I feel therapy while married didn't do much, individual or couples, I put 10000% into it and did everything, my wife on the other hand did nothing had excuses every step of the way, she didn't actually want to change, she wants her new BF. I guess I don't know if there is a certain personality type that works for therapy, or if it should work for everyone or I just had a less than g…

I am new to all of this, but you can really get a DV order just from condescending texts?

Based on the couple sentences you posed the issue wasn't the honeymoon and that wouldn't of made a difference.

I have lurked in several relationship subs over the past several months and have questioned the same thing. It's a terrifying thought, because personally I will want a new spouse whenever I will eventually move on. I want and desire a life partner. But what am I moving onto? So many are brainwashed that a lifetime marriage commitment really only means until your bored then you move on.

Values turning upside down. My wife was 10000% against cheating, she was cheated on in her last multi-year relationship and that wrecked her. She always made it clear that's something she would never do herself. Until the opportunity presented itself and she jumped at it.

I was on Prozac first and in under in under a week I wanted to off myself. It happened so naturally it was terrifying!!

While you are behind down voted, I read this multiple locations when I was looking at online support for the initial emotional affair/divorce request several months back. Seen the difference between men/women is men can come back from being fully checked out where most women do not operate the same. Maybe that's completely wrong but I did read it multiple times. And honestly I never had real faith at all myself that I could bring her back, I wanted it to happen but deep down I felt my success ra…

What difficult is I don't want this, I really wanted to fix it, I actually thought I was fixing it.i really thought we could get back to what we had. I was completely wrong. I know life goes on but my fear now is finances as a single person in today's expensive world.. and becoming a part time dad to my 11 & 5 year olds. It's going to kill me inside to not see them daily, they are my entire world.
/r/Divorce_Men18/10/25 03:11 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
