Women in the past entered male dominated fields with straight hostile work environments towards them. Also, trade work isn’t that stereotype anyway. It’s just a few dudes not saying much to get a task done as skillfully as possible to get home. Most guys have families they want to get home for and lots of unrelated talk is about that.

I never understood why only STEM and not the high paid trade work. Rosie the riveter is a feminist mascot but they don’t call women to join steel workers, welders and pipe fitters. For almost no education you can make the same money as in the STEM fields. Of the few women I met working trades, they were the ass slapping, locker room talking, bar after work types.

I’ve been subject to this same policy harassment before about 15 years ago. A now defunct chain book store didn’t allow unaccompanied males into the children’s section. Found out first hand while looking for my wife, I was asked to leave that section by the staff, thinking nothing of it and completely obvious I moved along.
