Those broad tastes still come with strict, high standards for physical attractiveness. I’m basing my opinions off of online dating, where the majority of couples meet nowadays.

I never said you need to be a 6’4 adonis to be considered attractive (although that would really help). I stated that men have stricter, more uniform beauty standards they have to adhere to. Woman have more freedom with the types of facial shapes, body shapes, hairstyles, clothes, makeup etc they can have without it impacting their dating experience. Failure to meet these beauty standards usually means that dating will be a considerable struggle. Much more of a struggle than it would be for wome…

They actively want that btw. Most men are undesirables so it makes sense. If they didn’t want it this contradiction wouldn’t exist

Meaning the onus is still on the man to catalyze any sort of interaction. We will never have a society where women equally pursue men. Never. Women are less forthcoming when it comes to giving up their own beneficiary gender roles

Perfectly describes my ex, it shocked me. I never thought I would be in a situation where my female partner felt entitled to sex to the point where it made her angry. Its honestly not talked about enough imo. We put up with a lot

There’s certainly gonna be a lot more relationships being built with “rotten timber” given the cost of living crisis, wage stagnation, instagram/social media ideals etc

China’s size is on par with the United States. 80% of people in the US live in high density urban environments. There are vast swathes of rural parts of the United States that are just corporate farms making alfalfa or some shit. There is plenty of space to go around. What would indicate to you that China is running out of space. What studies? Personal accounts from Chinese citizens? It seems like you’re basing your opinion off of vibes

Anytime someone starts a statement off with “So…” Its about to be some dumb shit. Go back to the drawing board and come back without a non-sequitur

Malthusian nonsense. The world could sustain plenty more humans as it stands. There’s plenty to go around, we’re just cucked by the 1% who own most of it. The logical conclusion of your statement is wholesale genocide anyways. Go read a book and stop peddling shit you learned as a child.

When you suggest they take actions to ensure their own safety they instead interpret it as a thinly veiled threat. Or they think you’re “victim blaming” because apparently taking all the steps to make sure you are safe also means you take full responsibility? I dunno, it makes discussions like this impossible. And frankly it makes me care less overall

Because oftentimes what “as a person” means is the things and titles a man has. As in what job he has, does he have a car, a house, a boat, nice clothes, nice shoes, disposable wealth etc. Nothing to do with his actual interests or passions. So more like “as an asset” although that may be a bit harsh. Now you can meet someone who actually cares about those passions, but you’ll be hard pressed to. This can be incredibly alienating, especially for a man who received no attention until later in lif…

These are the inherent contradictions that paint gender relations in developed countries. Women have progressed leaps and bounds(an unequivocal good thing). They have plenty of popular social movements advocating for them to progress even further in life. For men, however, we are still tied to our gender roles for the most part. Women for the most part still expect us to uphold all the aspects of patriarchy that benefitted them in the past, even if it makes no sense to do so. We’re in a cost of …

Modern dating is hyperfixated on superficial traits. To deny this or ignore it is ignoring reality. That statement is true for social media in general, teens and young adults feel like they should be millionaires by 25, people think life ends after their twenties, an increase in ED and steroid use, cost of living crisis, plastic surgery etc. And now tie that in with the fact most people meet online. Why would all of the fore-mentioned things not have a deleterious effect on fostering meaningful …

There used to be a time where you could get to know a person through things other than online dating. Through a mutual interests, a vibrant friend group, etc. Now 70% of couples start online, so this “audition” dilemma is hard to fix. I don’t see men or women running off those app anytime soon so I guess all you single folk will continue to suffer.

Yea you are, you’re asking for an impossible task. Men on a large scale pivot away from having high sex drives, as if that is physiologically possible without castration or medicine

Its been important, but men were shorter back in the day. Meaning the acceptable height for a man to be considered decent height was more equitable. Now, only like 10% of men fit the criteria for decent height. Everyone else is short. This follow the overall trend of capitalism where the winner pool increasingly becomes smaller, while that pools’ winning grow exponentially.

“Men” as a whole only improve for women? Is this a new theory you’re peddling or something?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/08/23 02:35 PM

That’s pretty shitty behavior on those mens part. Those men have a negative chance of ever getting lucky with a model anyways so they should be happy to have a loving wife with them. That’s also a relationship problem though, not a dating one.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 06:48 PM

Yes, most men will settle. That is the nature of an arrangement where you have near-zero bargaining power. In a dream world all women would be dating men 6’+ and all men would be dating big booty goth freaks. Let’s talk about reality however. Men (as a whole) have no bargaining power, thusly they express no external pressure on women to fit specific beauty standards. Do you think a fast food worker would exert any external pressure on the minimum wage? Or on workplace safety? I mean they could s…

Absolutely, it kinda opened my eyes too just now. Most women have a voice in dating. They have a role in shaping the landscape of dating. We’ve seen a rapid evolution of men over just the past two decades, which is a testament of that fact. They advocate for themselves and, for the most part, eventually get what they want when it comes to dating. They get to have their proverbial cake and get to it too. Yet we are still inundated with grievances from them that our standards are too “unrealistic”…

Whether or not the man wants to smash and dip or start a life with you is immaterial to this conversation. That’s a whole other conversation that’s had everyday on this godforsaken subreddit. What I am saying is that there is no pressure from men as a whole for women to fit into specific beauty standards. Most men have absolutely no bargaining power (and I would honestly argue that’s a good thing). These “beauty standards” that y’all harp about are machinations of your own mind, as well and the …

And she doesn’t use social media to choose her clothes, you’re really unique asf wow Those accounts do exist, they do have a measurable impact on how women see themselves, they do a lot of damage that average men themselves do not cause to women’s self esteem. Yet we are all to blame for the neurosis caused by them. To the point where unrealistic standards for men are almost completely ignored, or atleast put on the back burner.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 06:15 PM
2

Our standards have an actual material impact on whether or not we have sex or find a partner in the next decade. Their standards determine whether or not they’ll suddenly have a mental breakdown looking in the mirror.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 06:05 PM
1

Ohhh so you have to have a fat ass and a small waist to keep a man. I get that right?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 06:03 PM

Change fashion tabloids to social media lmao its the same exact shit. The “standards” you harp over are determined by the bourgeoisie class, not the average joe. Clarence the plumber doesn’t give a shit about your waist size, or the size of your lips, or if you have a thigh gap or whatever else. Its all in your head
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 06:00 PM

Male paranoia is backed by science and research. Multiple credible studies that show short height drastically reduces your dating chances. Dating apps support this as well, and 70% of people meet online in 2023. Female paranoia is backed by…tabloids/social media, their own neuroticism and other women being misogynistic. Women are also not concerned with what sort of “standards” the average man has, since they have no intentions of dating those people. Only the guys they want themselves.

Here’s another contradiction: Men simultaneously will fuck anything, but as a woman you also need to have a flat stomach and a big ass in order to get a man. Could you please explain this contradiction, shit like this confuses the hell out of me
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 05:53 PM
2

Multiple studies show that you’re lying. You don’t need to lie, just do the lords work and keep it moving
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 05:51 PM
2

But you don’t get it man, its terrible to be a woman and great to be a man. You better not complain either, or you’re an incel
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 05:50 PM
3

And eventually, as these contradictions stack on top of each other, we’ll see reactionary movements get stronger. When studies are showing women on average are doing better than men, while women themselves ramp up their rhetoric that men are evil, what will we expect to happen.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 05:48 PM

That just wouldn’t happen though. Just like most women will never become incels, its not a realistic concern. So why entertain it?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 05:45 PM

Most men were oppressed as well. Those oppressed men then oppressed women. But the main point is, only a minuscule, infinitesimally small amount of men have had any impact on how society has progressed.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 05:41 PM

A man who values himself is not the root reason he’s successful with women. This is a lie. His superficial traits and the things he own generally determine his success. This is toxic positivity on full display
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 05:37 PM

Whereas women have a more consolidated, strict, uniform view of what makes an attractive man. Making it a lot easier for them to organize and get what they want out of dating. This directly contradicts the whole “unrealistic beauty standards” that are supposedly imposed on women, but it is also admirable and I wish men were like this two. Sadly most men are whores(scabs), so this level of organization would never happen.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 05:32 PM

It’s a race to the bottom. Men want to get the “most bang for their buck” and women want the best man out of the pool of men interested in them.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 05:27 PM

Excellent point
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 05:23 PM

Well when you say it like that…
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 05:23 PM

Nobody cares. The average man would probably love to have you. Go to therapy and stop punishing the rest of us
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 04:33 PM
3

But you’ll be guided by fashion tabloids who in turn are guided by the tastes of unfathomably rich men. Wow, so different, so unique
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 04:32 PM
3

But yet all men have to suffer for the tastes of a relatively small number of disgustingly rich men. Because those are the men these women actually want. Bubba the truck driver be damned. Meanwhile men gotta fall in line with incredibly strict beauty standards that at the barest of minimum only 10% of them can realistically achieve

It’s my theory that in the US, high school life is human sociology in its purest form. And adult life is a heavily diluted version of it. I see so many adults everyday that still have a highschool view of the world

But with height, it is never only about how tall he is relative to her. It is about how tall he is relative to all men. I think you misrepresented what is being argued. When they say “height doesn’t matter to me” they’re not saying that they don’t care if the man is taller than her. They’re saying they don’t care if he’s shorter than other men. Or atleast that is the message men get from that. And there is a clear disconnect between the women that have this sentiment, and reality.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 03:58 PM
1

I think it’s because women (as a group, not individually) do a terrible job of explaining, or justify some of the contradictory actions they do. As a man, witnessing some of those contradiction, I can see why some other men say to hell with what y’all say and instead let their anecdotal experiences inform their world view. Is this a right thing to do? Absolutely not. However, when the illusion is shattered some men decide to ascribe traits to women that would reflect what they would do if they w…

You can filter without using that feature lol
/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/23 12:53 PM

They have problems with finding suitable men for relationships that don’t have problems with abuse or chronic infidelity. Just search up “men” on twitter and you’ll see tons of my generational cohorts complaining about how my gender is apparently the devil. Even when they don’t want 99% of them for dating.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/23 12:51 PM
1

Thats valid, but then don’t also lament about how “men are trash” in dating when you’re only attracted to 2% of them.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/23 12:50 PM
1

Is it difficult for you to wrap your head around an immutable trait? Would you say racial preference is the same as a preference of hair color? Both are influenced by genetics but one can be easily changed with a visit to the salon. Weight can be changed with consistent exercise and diet changes, height can never be changed without damaging surgery
/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/23 12:48 PM
1

And then you’ll have a bad experience with one, two, or three, or twenty of these 10,000 men that all the women in your area also filter for, and the rest of the male species will be punished for it. This is precisely why men find the “all men” issue so annoying. You can’t possibly know “all men” with regards to dating when you filter virtually all of them.

Take a shot at tinder right now, your past lived experiences have no bearing on the current reality. Most people meet online now
/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/23 12:36 PM
2

I agree with this, however we cannot ignore the society we live in. Pretty privilege is real, just simply being attractive opens tons of doors both professionally and socially that would otherwise be closed. We live in an incredibly shallow society that everyone likes to pretend doesn’t exist. Physical attractiveness paints so many aspects of social interaction it’s insane to think about
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/23 07:32 AM
3

This isn’t how dating is predominantly happening in 2023. It’s facilitated through commodified Web 2.0 dating apps and social media. We have an incredibly alienated and atomized society, I don’t know why you are under any illusions that the majority of people are meeting organically

I wish you guys would stop talking like this. Use human terms, you have no credentials, you are not writing a research paper
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/23 03:17 PM

Incredibly ironic because the only people I see clinging to “tradcon” ideas in actual real life are the women in my age-cohort who believe it is their god given right to have a man completely support them, even in a cost of living crisis. And men who are incapable of doing so are “broke” and God forbid that
/r/PurplePillDebate17/04/23 07:08 AM
1

And that is why you see the rise in manospherian extremist rhetoric. It is a reaction to an increase in the minimum “credit score” in order to receive a “loan”. Whether or not you believe the increased minimum score is reasonable or not is up for debate
/r/PurplePillDebate17/04/23 06:49 AM

In an economy dependent on debt in order to function, banks refusing to give loans to anyone but the highest percentile credit score will lead to a recession

Okay yea I get it, kinda like a man would feel jealous if the woman they’re currently with had a string of flings drastically more attractive than him. So you’re concerned with the fact that you’re not worshiped like an instagram model? If your partner is a man, I don’t think you need to look anything close to an instagram model for him to find you both sexually desirable and also have genuine care for you. The men in this subreddit are concerned that women can forgo physical attraction near totally if the man checks other boxes, in the context of an LTR. And in some ways I can see that as being true, since women often have a libido that is far…

I’m sorry but most people, especially men, are not rampantly sleeping around. It’s a falsehood, a farcical analysis of modern dating. It’s a small subset of incredibly stupid people, that get an outsized voice. And most of us commoners decide that the things they espouse on social media is a concern we should be up in arms about to, even when it doesn’t relate to our own reality. You’re not a “betabuxx” or an “Alpha”, your name is Tim and you work in accounting.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/04/23 06:01 AM

It’s a negative feedback loop where people like you get the worst of it. Nobody wants to settle down because we are inundated with media telling men the women they want are all sleeping with a small pool of men, and women are told that all men just want sex. It’s the quintessential race to the bottom and things will only get worse as “3rd” places are commodified to hell or go out of business, and dating apps (where most of the rhetoric actually holds true) becomes the sole venue where people mee…

Don’t pay, split it, risk getting ghosted. The benefits outweigh the risks in the longterm. Unless you’re focused solely on the short term, which will always have you scrambling to keep your head above water.
