I have a feeling this will be me. No one in my family ever visits me or talks to me... After years of visiting them or taking part in their life, I have now just given up. For 21 years since I moved out, the only time my mom has called was to tell me my dad was in the hospital from a heart attack. Oldest sister, only when her first child was born (20 years ago), my twin contacts me for her children's birthdays (but hasn't since Covid - maybe because I brought up the issues around out parents dur…

I think there may be some 'internalized misandry' among these people. Or just some general misanthropy. It would seem testosterone does have a negative impact on mammalian males in stressful environments. But it's the environment that is the problem, not the testosterone.

In developmental trauma, the non-sexist word is toxic shame. The term toxic describes the environment they find them shelves in and cannot escape from societal or familial expectations, or lack thereof.

Emotional neglect and abuse are excellent tools to minimize invalidate and silence people.

Which begs the chicken or the egg question. Does social isolation cause antisocial behaviour, or behaviour that is not anti-social but asocial. Boys do experience all forms of childhood abuse more than girls do. Except for CSA, but even then that gap between the sexes is smaller than the others.

Similar to how many conspiracy theorists want to believe that virtually everything bad is ultimately due to human control Not just human control. But also reptoid aliens.

But why could Jada do it. It's her feelings and she's an adult. Like. She is clearly wearing the pants' in the relationship. Just to maintain gender roles?

Yet all hair loss is called alopecia. That's the word people want to push with Jada, not the actual autoimmune disease.

Hmm... 2/3 of people who attend university women. 2/3 of student debt holders are women. Makes sense. Of people don't like that 2/3 of debt holders are women, entice men to go to university. But that may be hard since there is a tendency for women to go to school just to learn something, while men have a tendency to get qualifications for better paying jobs.

My last girlfriend, after I said I feel like I'm getting fat and unhealthy. That doesn't matter because more women suffer from eating and body disorders. She actually introduced me to the word misandry. Guess I was a late bloomer on gender and all that. One of her friends, who was male, wanted to be reminded if she was a feminist or not. She sternly said no, but insisted that misandry doesn't exist. Boy would she disprove that statement. Well, I guess it happened the moment she made that stateme…

How can men's and women's experiences be so different? Are these women being disingenuous? While my developmental trauma may increase my chances of running into the same invalidating people over and over again, it does seem quite a lot of men have similar stories. That woman will offload their emotional baggage but when the roles are reversed they have zero tolerance for it.

I would assume toxic masculinity is like toxic shame. What is Toxic Shame? In this article it even uses the term 'internalized shame', and I would say toxic masculinity and internalized misogyny are the same thing - despite what feminists may claim. But they are an ideology of double standards. As others have said. It could be called toxic gender roles, as a specific form of toxic shame.

Well, at least in the case of Issac Newton, whose mother suffered the loss of his father/her partner along with being prematurely born (in 1640s no less) that this early developmental trauma complicates a person's ability to connect with other people. Today, a model used for addressing this trauma, NeuroAffective Relational Model came up with five adaptive survival styles. They are quite successful for survival, but come with severe roadblocks to where it comes to forming human relationships. So…

Yep, as a Canadian man who does not own property, before 1918, I would not be able to vote. Women, who inherited property could vote before 1918. But 1918 is seen as the year women got to vote. Well, 1918 was universal suffrage, with the largest discriminatory factors being ownership of property, or being in the army. Some people seem to think there was some universal male suffrage? This makes so many male experiences invisible. But invalidation is the name of the game with this agenda. And when…

Yeah, dehumanizing males. We are herbivore males. Running around head first into one another. Well, unless you're a Simpson male.

Attachment trauma can interfere with acting in one's own best interest. So with saying that, if there are any penalties in this person's life, it is not from peer pressure, but from issues that occurred during development. Not having a strong sense of self can lead to some pretty debilitating social anxiety.

Being assertive is not the same as being aggressive, so I still can't understand your blanket diagnosis. Babies' crying is aggression. They are using it to assert their needs. Aggression is the foundation of assertiveness. Perhaps it isn't a good idea to try and medicalize everything. Normalized male alexithymia is NOT "medicalizing". It is a non-clinical term. Especially when it is obviously positive and healthy adult human behaviour. It is not healthy if you do not have access to your other em…

And it is due to their socialization. How is this misandrist? it is the socialization that is the misandry.

I am not applying the medical condition. I am applying normative male alexithymia. Where normative means 'morally endorsed ideal' which is pushed onto boys from their socializers (Mothers, Early childcare and public school teachers). NMA is not pathological, but it can certainly lead to depression and suicide.

It is not normal when boys are socialized to bottle up their emotions.

How? The misandry is the socializers who push this onto boys!

If we are shamed, then we are heard, just not the way we should be. Heard, but not listened to. The fact that a lot of men have internalized this stuff is also not helping. Is this blaming?

While male socialization seems to be focused on activities that might distract you from your troubles in order to relieve pressure Distraction does not relieve pressure, it just suppresses it till it surfaces later which can result in suicide. I am sorry, but any form of trauma therapy involves being vulnerable. It's not making men behave like women, it is making them behave like humans/mammals. You are showing this resistance because of fear. Suppressing/not expressing/understanding your emotio…

As someone who is in therapy for developmental trauma, children start to hide their emotions when they are not seen, listened to, mirrored, etc. This is emotional neglect and is the primary cause of alexithymia in Autism and outside of Autism. Then there is normalized male alexithymia, a non-clinical version of alexithymia. And then things like "not being manly" are an example of emotional abuse. As someone who is in therapy for developmental trauma, children start to hide their emotions when th…

I will check it out. I think you are getting hung up on the "homosexual" part and ignoring the "pedophile" part. Strange, I gave two sources that argue the pedophile part, and one of those two sources included homosexuality. In the wider world any sexual interest or behaviors with children or adolescents will be enough to brand the perpetrator a pedophile even if he or she isn't exclusively sexually attracted to children. You cannot assume a child sex abuser is a pedophile you gave none. Put up …

The bulk of the victims were boys and most of the abusers who were mostly male only went after boys. Which is why I referred to the abusers as mostly homosexual pedophiles. This is a non sequitur. Just because the victim was of the same sex and child does not mean that the abuser was either a homosexual or a pedophile. I would check out Sam Harris's Making Sense #213 — The Worst Epidemic. While it focuses on online child sex abuse, it does cover the difference between child sex abusers and pedop…

A rape victim can get therapy, counseling, support, and go on to live a healthy and productive life. A slave can get freed, be helped, and receive counseling and go on to live a healthy and productive life. A murder victim can't get any of these. There is no remedy for death. There's no support. No help. No chance of a healthy and productive life after. I guess one could say the victim of murder is no longer capable of suffering, unlike those still living with trauma. But there also seems to be …

Men and women are being treated differently based on their gender in these scenarios. That is gendered violence. You know, vs IPV where the guy could have come home after causing shit at work, road raging- driving people off the roads and then his female partner and even kids. This stressed outand unregulated male is not causing gendered violence, just violence - all are targets of aggression.

We should learn about humans using sciences such as psychology, sociology, history, and anthropology. These subjects would have been immensely helpful to Marx and Lenin, who otherwise demonstrated shocking ignorance regarding basic human patterns and behavior. What basic human patterns and behaviours are you talking about? If they are survival styles, like greed, or whatever, how does that ignore an emotionally regulated, curious and lively individual who seeks out improving society, they are no…

Getting therapy for CPTSD as a result of emotional neglect/abandonment I keep reading books that strong healthy relationships involve vulnerability. Already with trauma, it's difficult but adding in the complaints about emotional labour makes it nearly an impossible feat t achieve. And sure, the trauma will keep me running into the same invalidating people, but damn, it's certainly retraumatizing having someone cringe/wince/invalidate you being vulnerable 1 time, after 100s of complaints, insecu…

Their current top post is about how false accusations basically aren’t a huge deal, and don’t happen that often so don’t worry about it. Figures. In regards to racism, they will proclaim false accusations from white women that have sent black men to jail. This is the thought that entered my mind when reading this. I will now continue reading the post. And after the initial post, the top comment can be summed up as; false rape accusations are about racism anyway, it’s not misandry, and it’s also …

These are the emotionally unavailable women. I must ask about your history of emotional neglect and emotionally unavailable caregivers? The unfortunate thing is when you grow up, despite any conscious resistances to the familiar, unconsciously you find strangers who reflect your family of origin. Whether you are aware of it or not. Some will adopt pride-based counter identifications that also cause disconnection in their own lives which they will project (blame and shame) onto others.

normative male alexithymia a subclinical form of alexithymia found in boys and men reared to conform to traditional masculine norms that emphasize toughness, teamwork, stoicism, and competition and that discourage the expression of vulnerable emotions. When you say "regulate your emotions to the point where you practically never need to cry". What do you mean by this? I wonder if you are just dissociating. Can you describe this process? With alexithymia, crying is just replaced with rage - as al…
