Omg yes that’s always their answer, word for word. As if everything in your first sentence that you do for them has no bearing on whether they want to date you… plus the obvious s-e-x that they want you for above all else. I’m convinced only a fraction of men legitimately like the woman they are dating. They’re in the relationship for the many, many free perks.

Yes, this! This is vetting done correctly, by watching for small signs on the ice that signal an iceberg underneath.

This is so accurate—“women aren’t stupid, they’re gaslighted by men who do a 180…they try to get the relationship back to where it used to be.” I’m guilty of being a fixer and not leaving when they start to pivot. That’s why I’m so grateful for FDS reminders about not accepting a single red flag from the start before I get emotionally invested!

It’s such a hard balance to find photos of me that I like which aren’t full-body… which is making me realize I’m inadvertently picking photos that make me appear smaller/distant with an appealing body outline. Like it doesn’t matter that you can’t see my face… I need to take a serious look at the photos I’m sharing online because I’ve grown accustomed to objectifying myself :( Not anymore!

That’s exactly what happened in my last relationship and it’s infuriating when it’s clear they see you’re leaving, it’s what they want, and yet they make it so difficult to break up — gaslighting to convince me the issues are all in my head… like, if you don’t want this to continue, stop fighting me on ending it??

These are all great points and helped me think about abstinence more positively… I guess I’m abstaining but hadn’t been conscious about my intentions and what new perspective I’m gaining. I feel pressure to take advantage of being in my “prime” mid-twenties, even though I’m not eager to sleep around. This has been a good reminder to not try to compare my dating timeline.

This is great advice and so accurate. I’ve been thinking about vulnerability a lot lately, as it’s something I’m terrified of being with a man. I crave emotional intimacy but never feel safe being genuinely vulnerable worry men (which my therapist reminds me is for good reason, lol). So your advice to building intimacy safely by setting boundaries is exactly what I needed to hear, so thank you!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
