It is more accurate to say that men generally have not recognized that they are discriminated against and suffer for their own type of repression. Men suffer differently from women, but men (other than the few rich and elite) also get the short end of a different stick.

A common problem with intact children is that parents think that they need to retract the foreskin and clean with soap. WRONG! Doing that often results in infections, phimosis, and sometimes ballanitis. That sounds like what the mom blogger did. The proper care of an intact penis on a young child is to wipe link a finger and NEVER retract. The foreskin is fused to the glans and will not naturally retract until the boy is between 3 and 17. Let nature take its course and leave the boy's penis alon…

Hanna Rosin hates men and takes every opportunity to advance her cause. She has written extensively in support of male infant circumcision. That should be enough to let everyone know that circumcision should stop.

The statistical analysis, and the study itself, are not conclusive of anything because the study was ended early. The researchers deteremined that the trend was moving against their hypothesis and the study was stopped. But, the 3 African trials that everyone likes to use were also stopped early because the data was very favorable to the researchers hypothesis supporting male circumcision.

Why not teach your son to respect his body and the bodies of other people? He does not have to be a lemming.

This has already caught on. The CDC announced that about only 1/3rd of boys were circumcised in 2009. The intact boys are in the majority and it will be the cut boys who will be different in the locker room.

So are you recommending that infant girls have a double mastectomy to avoid the risk of breast cancer? After all, people cut baby boys to supposedly reduce risk of lots of things that happen less frequently than breast cancer.

I would have appreciated having the choice. I would have chosen to keep my whole sex organ. Instead, I am having to restore my foreskin.

Great idea. I was thinking about having my son's ears cut off to avoid ear infections. Default answer: YES. /sarcasm The OP has the correct approach. Any elective surgery should have a default answer of NO. If surgery is not required to correct a medical problem, then it should not be done.

That is not entirely correct. There is a study that shows male circumcision increases the HIV infection rate for women who have sex with circumcised men. http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736%2809%2960998-3/abstract

I was circumcised at birth and I am restoring my foreskin. I know the difference between being cut and having a foreskin, even if it is a restored one. Sex and masturbation are MUCH better with a foreskin. It is not all about sensitivity, either. The foreskin creates a gliding sensation as your glans moves back and forth inside. My wife loves it. We don't need lube and she does not get sore from extended sessions.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
