But, are you happy now with him and the way the relationship is going? I don't think you'd be writing in if you were. It sounds like you have reservations. So I wouldn't put too much effort and time into this relationship for now. I'd focus on myself and keeping my options open. Give him time and see what he does with it. If in another 6 months time it's the same ole same ole then I think you have your answer. A real man will understand that he needs to get his ish together before you can take h…

100% agree with this sentiment. Constant inane texting is so tedious to me. And this doesn't just happen in the context of dating. Generally speaking, my feeling is that it's become a reflex for people who are bored and restless. And I resent it. They might as well text me "Hey I'm bored, entertain me, entertain me, entertain me." I don't even respond. My feeling is also, "fuck off." Especially if these are people that don't bother to call or reach out to make plans. It's just random texting ("h…

Hmmm...six months is too short of a time to give this guy so much benefit of the doubt. It seems like he's unmotivated. It just seems like he's always "in the process" of doing things but doesn't follow through. That could be depression or a character flaw, either way the outcome is the same. Even if it is depression, it doesn't mean it's your duty after only dating for 6 months to stick around and help him through this difficult time. He's not your husband! Flip the script, do you think he'd do…

This is only bad if he uses it to segue into an invite to cook for you at his home. Otherwise on its face it sounds like harmless banter.

I would say what he's doing is cruel. He knows you have feelings for him and want to take things further yet he's dangling himself in front of you even though he has no intentions of developing the relationship further. Telling you he's looking for someone better was very unkind. Just because he was complimentary after he said that doesn't make it less so. I guess I'm confused as to why you think he's so "nice"? You mention he gave you advice and inspired you with your career. It sounds to me li…

I think u/whycantweallgetal0ng pretty much answered your question. I'm not trying to be hard on you but you seem to be focusing on these arbitrary deadlines when it seems you're not compatible. You seem to want to hear strategies for how to cope with disappointment and incompatibility in relationships. If you're not compatible, you need to walk away and stop wasting your time. You seem to be holding on to this pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but 1. that's not a guarantee (Anything can happ…

So if this is just about you waiting till February until things get back on track, what kinda advice are you seeking exactly? It seems you're seeing certain things about his character that you don't like even if, as you say, after February things will be on track. If you truly believed that, I don't think you'd be agitated. I think you don't like what you're seeing now because it foreshadows how things might pan out in the future with this guy. It also seems like you're only with him for financi…

Haha hammer meet nail. This is how I view it too. They're lonely, depressed, bored and they want to reach out. It's lazy and low effort obviously and a complete waste of time. I immediately block. Cause they'll keep doing it periodically even if you ignore them and I just can't be bothered. Every time I see one of these 'what's up?" or "hey stranger" texts I get aggravated. So I block. I've done it to my male relatives as well.

This is the whole truth and nothing but the truth right here! It hurts.

Just saw a similar comment in the Relationships subreddit. “Dated” 3 months. Met through a mutual friend. Never talked on the phone just texts. She claims, however, that he’s courted her and taken her out. Asked her if she wants to talk on the phone and she said no. Regrets this now. She claims they went to dinner and movies and then he cooked for her and she cooked for him. eyeroll They used to have sex 3-4 times a week and now he’s being distant and told her he needs a week off from sex to rec…
