Well, what I’d want you to say is denounce the destructive behavior posted here, while saving the MAGA criticism for posts relating to the stupid shit those guys do (plentiful on Reddit). We have to start calling out destructive behavior on an absolute basis, not selectively denouncing folks based on the team they play for. Trump is an idiot. Attacking an entire demographic as a smokescreen to the issue being investigated is also idiotic behavior.

While I’m not sure that’s true specifically, MAGA sucks and we are in agreement there. Now let me hear you hold these folks accountable for this particular bullshit.

The right certainly has its (many) flaws. This comment thread is about the erosion of male-only spaces and the impact on men; what’s your opinion this?

This just in - Reddit is a cancerous cesspool. That sub is at the heart of it. I’m actively trying to separate myself from this shithole (and failing as of now).

No, they don’t. This is not a secret.

You’re being downvoted because you’re implying your experience undermines the viewpoint in the comment you’re replying to (“Funny since…”). In reality, both are true - we’re become more polarized and the two parties have moved extreme in different ways; democrats/left on race and gender issues, and the right/GOP in their fringe/conspiracy theory stances and populism. Your viewpoint doesn’t disprove what the other person is saying; I’d argue they reinforce one another and speak more to what is im…

Misinformation is also stating that it was “probably not directly related to experience “. See replies to your comment.

Thanks for sharing! I saw this, but didn’t see a reference to the specific second case. Maybe he doesn’t go into that detail.

I hear this a lot, but can’t find reference to the other case(s) it’s based on - do you happen to know which other cases it’s based on?

And then doesn’t address any of the above and goes immediately to snark… … a bit like a child shit talking because they bowled a strike with the bumpers up.

Do nothing to address the topic, and instead leave an ad hominem (and frankly sexist) comment to the OP? Check. Then, when called out on this, respond with a vague attack on an entire sub based on perception and without providing any reference whatsoever? Check. This kind of cognitive giant is exactly why the discourse on social media has so starkly degraded.

1-2% of SA accusations are false, which is ‘nonexistent’? Really?! In 2022 there were 64K SA cases in the US; 2% of that is ~1.3K thereabouts. That’s over a thousand people, every year, whose lives are severely impacted because of a wrongful accusation. And this is in the US alone…

I’ve asked this before here on Reddit and in real life, several times. I’ve never received a quality response that didn’t rely on an appeal to emotion or was completely ad hominem. I’ve even heard that men DO have this option already- that they can simply “walk away and be dead beat dads”… like, someone actually responded with this as a viable option. I don’t think it’s blatant stupidity as much as it is complete apathy.

Still never heard a good reason why paper abortions aren’t even discussed as being a thing. I’m all for a women’s AND men’s right to terminate their involvement in a pregnancy. The few times Redditors have attempted a counter position on this with me, they’ve ended up making fools of themselves.

This logic is looking at negative trends in demographics- higher relative levels of poverty, higher levels of negative health outcomes, higher levels of incarceration, less access to education, etc., and dismissing it because it’s an average across millions or billions of people - “what’s the problem exactly? Talk about getting up in arms over nothing!”

That’s their exact point…

You’re never entitled to directing what a woman does with her body in these circumstances, including forcing her to give birth. Similarly, a man who legally renounces involvement in a pregnancy, prior to childbirth, should never be coerced to support that child once born. Seem fair? One of these is protected by law (and in some cases constitution) in many western countries, the other is a “fringe idea” denounced in mainstream media and not even proposed as law anywhere (as far as I know).

I agree with this, actually. Codify increased responsibility for fathers when a child is confirmed theirs, AND (equally important), mandated paternity tests in cases of dispute, as well as easy availability of both abortions (for females) and paper abortions (for males) prior to childbirth. A good legislative clean up in this area in general.

Sounds like revenge porn of a different name. I’m sure some of these are well-intentioned, but plenty of opportunity for abuse by spiteful people. I’m sure there will be a public outrage about this…. Right?

This is a true story. Yahoo News, WSJ, etc. She isn’t Kavanaugh’s primary accuser, so may not be significant, but it’s completely true.

How on earth would you ever prove that someone was staring at you? What’s the legal test to determine staring vs. simply looking at one’s surroundings? This law is almost begging to be corrupted and abused, and its brain dead takes like this that reflect our complicity in our inching towards a dystopian nightmare.

And I’ve been saying they’re both critical in a truly just society. Are you referring to yourself? Or are you attempting to broadcast your massive personality defect to all of Reddit? Either way, fair play my friend.

I mean, if you’re assuming men have the option to just bail on their children and family, then you can assume women have the same option. Now the latter happens much less often, sure, but my point is men should be held to that same standard - and central to that standard, is giving them the same option to abort their involvement in a pregnancy before a child is born. Agree to disagree I suppose.
/r/MensRights25/06/22 05:55 PM

Completely missing the point. Abortion for women is important not just because they may not financially be ready for children, but because they may not want to be mothers period, and abandoning/giving up a child is not an option. Similarly, it should be a man’s choice to abort their involvement in a pregnancy, and it doesn’t have to be for financial reasons - they may not want to be fathers, period. The choice women have (or had until today), men should have. If you believe in equal rights, why …

What a weird line of reasoning. With that logic applied elsewhere, trans rights must not matter either, because there are so few of them compared to the majority? Or minorities being killed at the hands of police? What happened today was a travesty, but let’s not pretend that men’s rights aren’t just as important here. Both issues are absolutely critical in a truly just society.

Of course not. It’s not rational to assume perfect strangers are credible based on their genitalia. Are we ok with innocent people sitting in jail for a crime they didn’t commit 2 to 8% of the time? The logical perspective here is to take all allegations seriously and investigate them fully, and then make an informed decision based on the evidence. This is the entire premise most justice systems are built on.

Nothing to add, really, except to say that I agree- this is the most logical thing in the world, and I can’t fathom how one would argue against it.
