I think its a bit short-sited to see the problem as a woman only problem. At least where I'm at, there's tons of women working, and they are good at their jobs, and they don't seem to be spending beyond their means. On the flip side, I also know tons of dudes that are ass deep in dept because they are trying to live beyond their means in their attempts to chase women.

Consumer spending is the antithesis of “keeping the economy artificially afloat.” You just dont find value in what women spend their money on, so you deem it useless and artificial.

Disagree with you OP. You know full well their relationship would not have been sanctioned if the family didnt believe their wasnt marriage on the table. Your uncle breaking off the engagement after such a long period is no different than a woman divorcing a man and taking his money. People in here forget that women are people too. Its her fault for accepting the long engagement and not getting married sooner though.

As a man who found a great job before college tuition got too high (and I got scholarships), there seems to be a lot of eligible girls that just finished college that are interested in older men. So weird. What ever will I do.
