While you're right that the truth will come out in the end, I respectfully disagree. Your recommended course was the dynamic in my family. I believed all the BS that my mother fed me and I had a terrible relationship with my father and step-mother, for two decades. Over that time, I slowly uncovered the truth about their divorce and my mother had been entirely and horribly in the wrong. My father was deserving of great respect, but he and I had lost valuable decades. My step-mother, who my mothe…

It may be true, as a general rule. But, my experience has been otherwise. I've met some amazing people. The guys I most respect happen to be very nice and didn't generally strike fear in anyone. Each of these men were incredibly bright, skilled, focused, well-organized, strong executors of plans and- no surprise- successful. I think their being "nice" was a social and psychological defense mechanism. Objectively, almost everyone is a fucking idiot and loser compared to these guys. They could hav…

I disagree. Developing an intimate relationship takes time, energy and mind-share, which are all scarce resources when starting up a new business. Starting a successful business involves, among other things, self-discipline and sacrifice. While there may be some exceptions, the rule is "You can't have it all." Throw yourself into your new business or try to develop an intimate relationship, you decide.

Yes. And, from experience, I'll say you don't even have to play or sing all that well. My playing is rudimentary. My singing is awful. Countless times, it made girls that I was attracted to light up. The effect is, sometimes, startling.

Richard Belzer, in an interview, talked about how he'd even approach women wearing engagement rings, explaining that women are either married or not. You just want to find out what you're getting into.

I noticed something pretty similar. The woman just continued chatting at her desk, when the girl was pushing the boy. She only stopped when the boy lifted the girl. I guess violence by a girl against a boy is nothing to her.

I'd like to suggest you look at it very differently. You deserve a ton of credit for stepping up 14x. Not a lot of people would do that. Instead of focusing on the rejection, think of it as a series of experiments: what worked? what didn't? And use that info to make improvements. Again, you did great by having the strength to make 14 approaches. Nice work.

"That's all right. It doesn't have to be a 'date', it can just be two interesting people talking over tea."

I am 45. I was an early adopter of Facebook (pretty much the first day they dropped the "student" requirement) and an early quitter (+/- 2007). I have no doubt that staying off of social media has hindered my dating/social/professional life. On the other hand, I don't enjoy social media; I think that participating with little genuine interest wouldn't help, either.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
