The company I work for just started “family leave” for this. It makes maternity and paternity leave the same thing, or at least the same status. One of the reasons I’m staying with them.

There was a popular Jimmy Johns commercial on the radio where the man is in the “dog house”. In the end there is the sound of something shattering like something was thrown at a wall. They joke that she must have gotten stronger. I complained via their website and got no response other than “Thank you for your input”. I’ve stopped giving them my business even though my office regularly orders them for company meetings. People laughed when I told them why.

No, but I was talking about the US where someone who is drafted would make the same as a volunteer in that pay grade. We are both guilty of generalizing I guess. However that is horrible and wrong about Greece and anywhere else that happens.

Yes you do. I was in the military for 12.5 years, got along just fine with what I was paid even when I just got in. I'm not saying the draft is a good thing, I enjoyed being in an all volunteer military. However when you say it's slavery, you are wrong.

The same thing happened to me and my ex fiancé. We had talked about wanting kids one day. Accidental pregnancy happened and she told me she didn't want to keep it. I said I did but I told her the choice was ultimately hers. She got the abortion, I got increasingly depressed. Got therapy but it still feels like a part of me was ripped away after 3 years. Eventually I think it changed me and we eventually called it off. Granted I was there for her in the aftermath sickness as much as possible even…

I would have to say because men in the 50s, 60s, 70s weren't perpetually being told that their thoughts were wrong. They weren't being told that they are the route of many evils. They weren't being told to just shut up and listen. They were allowed to react differently to situations without the fear of being ostracized by family and friends. Now don't get me wrong society has come a long long way since then in equality for the genders but the pendulum has swung to the opposite extreme.

Natural conclusion? You must have been severely hurt if you think the natural conclusion of a relationship with a woman is having your life screwed over. If that's the case then I feel so sorry for you, but don't take it out on innocent people because you've had bad experiences. It isn't constructive in the least. Yup, pot is still illegal to use in the military due to federal law not local laws. I think he is in Canada due to RCMP reference in his post but I think their laws in this area are fairly similar to ours.
