I think you're talking about deductions. You claim those at the end of the year and they can reduce that amount you owe. The tax code is convoluted. This is why people like the idea of a flat tax. Under a flat tax you would pay a certain percentage and that's it, much simpler.

Not really. The US has a progressive tax scale. So you pay a certain percentage of what you earn. There is no ceiling but there is a floor. These aren't the real rate but I don't feel like looking them up. 0-10,000 3% 10,001-20,000 7% 20,001-35,000 10% It keeps going up to like a million per year I think and that is the top tax bracket. So if you make 9,000 this year you will pay 3% tax to the federal gov't. If you make 30,000 you will pay 3% on the first 9k, 7% on the next 10,000 after that, an…

They were leaders at work, and even with their female friends, but would defer decisions to me when I was around. Be careful of a woman that wants to lead you.
