Have some self respect. Cheaters are scum. Kick it to the curb. You are your own man, live like it

You described somebody doing something wrong immediately after saying nobody did anything wrong. You are describing comprehensive emotional and financial abuse. The keeping you from working is particularly heinous. You are a victim of abuse and should get out now.

Just be the man you want your son to know. The rest will play out. They’ll see through it most of the time.
/r/Divorce_Men08/02/26 02:52 PM

Document all of that. Don’t say anything in response. She’s not the arbiter of the outcome, the court is. Be careful. Look up silver bullet divorce. Avoid interaction, get audio device or body cam. The law will be on your side in most states. Get a lawyer. Stay calm. Your reactions are ammunition against you. You are in a war, hold fast. The short term nuisances should be tolerated for long term outcome

Male and female mediators are biased against men is my experience. Get taken for a ride while they fleece you for your money. If you are high conflict mediation won’t help anyway

lol yes, screwed over by multiple. I was just dollar signs to them. They don’t care

Read. Cannot say how much being able to sit down with a book and pour yourself into builds your mind and character. Pick a topic, look for highest rated books on it. Build and fix things. Learning woodworking is an eminently time consuming and rewarding endeavour.

Don’t depend on Karma, you’ll be disappointed. Cheaters and grifters rule the world. Your parent is not your child who depends on this pivotal time with you for attachment and stability. My kids got a real relationship with my parents, both of who are suffering from old age/dementia, because of my divorce. But they aren’t their parent. You have a short time, pre age 12, to make a real and lasting difference in your child’s life. You mentioned brothers and sisters (both written plural). This is n…

What you just said and what you wrote before are not the same. I don’t have any idea why you are trying to backpedal from your clear as day statement before but to respond to your next statement, don’t care about doing things to make people think one way or the other. The image you “project” should be you, not some caricature to sing and dance for people like you ex you want to perceive you in a certain way. A great way to end up in a shitty relationship resulting in divorce is not to have been …

Pathetic. Don’t give two craps about what she thinks. This is the worst advice I’ve seen on this sub. You don’t care what she thinks. Protect yourself and protect your peace. This person is anything but your friend and will wreck you if they have the chance
/r/Divorce_Men31/01/26 06:53 PM

Way better. Reconnected with family and friends my ex was alienating. Kids have a relationship with my family they never would have had if I had stayed married to that person. Rough when I went through it but back to doing great and progressing at work. All in all way better. Sucks the years and wealth stolen from me because I could have retired way earlier but I’m free and happy

After a relationship with a narcissist why in the world would you be looking to date? Take time for yourself. Enjoy peace.
/r/Divorce_Men30/01/26 09:26 PM

Absolutely not. I throw parties for my kids and it’s separate. That’s a cheater you are talking about. Keep them out of your life.

“If you love me” is some manipulative shit after cheating on you. This isn’t your friend anymore
/r/Divorce_Men26/01/26 05:02 PM

She’s a cheater. Your life will be better without her. I’m over 40 with 4 kids and was married to a dishonest person. You have to become comfortable with yourself now. Don’t define your life success by being in a romantic relationship. “Finding love” isn’t the right motivation; for yourself, find happiness. Once you have happiness and are who you want to be it will be way easier to find romance because you are comfortable in your own skin and don’t need to be validated by someone else.

Narcissists thrive on drama and desire control. You are experiencing textbook narcissistic abuse. Ignore as much as you can, be the man you want your children to know, and live your life, there’s only this one.

Leaving room for your enemy to make the first moves is bad strategy. He implies showing your hand and negotiating with someone who holds the advantage in the court system, family and criminal. Look at the other responses, women stick it to men, saying save money and don’t have a lawyer protect your interests in navigating a system you aren’t familiar with isn’t a good strategy. “Be an adult and figure this shit out” works in a minority of cases. People aren’t on Divorce Men because they are in a…

lol, my current trial date is over a year and a half from the first “final trial” date which itself was a full year after I filed for divorce. If someone has the financial incentive to do so they can drag this out seemingly perpetually. The only person in my case who has financial incentive for this to be over is me and the courts don’t care.

She cheated on you and you stayed? Screw that. Also she doesn’t respect you and will not make this easy. Get a lawyer. Get your ducks in a row. Do not try and “make it easy” because the only person who will get hosed is you

Dude, enoughs enough. This person has contempt for you and resents your existence. Divorce will be in your and your kids best interest. You are 31 and have a lifetime ahead of you. What happens in 31-40 are some of the best years. Yeah she hamstrung you but you are a smart guy and I believe you can get on top of this and be the single dad your girls need you to be. It’s not love. It’s a trauma bond. You are describing a relationship with a narcissist. Sorry to put you in this path but you need to read/watch about relationships with narcissistic women, covert narcissists in particular, and understand narcissists abuse tactics and how she’s put you in the fog you are in. The sooner you get clarity the sooner you can commit to getting out because you are wasting your time.
/r/Divorce_Men20/11/25 02:20 PM

Painful is being with a cheater. You can have a great life with your kids post divorce and not sacrifice your dignity with a cheat.
/r/Divorce_Men13/11/25 08:06 PM

No, this is a dumb take. Women initiate divorce at a wildly higher rate than men and there’s good reason. “Men don’t think of the consequences” encapsulates quite nicely what the reality of provid ing and prepping a woman to take half of what you earned and running off whenever she has the desire to.
/r/Divorce_Men07/11/25 08:53 PM

You haven’t lost your dignity. What you are doing is noble. Your and many others’ on here fight takes us to the lowest point in our lives. Keep fighting. Do not give up. Do not give in.

Yeah you are lucky as hell. Get a lawyer, go workout/do fun stuff with other people/better yourself. You got saved from worst than what you are experiencing
/r/Divorce_Men02/11/25 08:06 PM

Yep. Narcissist. Worst mistake I’ve made. But look, you survived. You escaped. You have clarity. The eye cannot see what it does not recognize. Now you know. Now you can build yourself up and never let someone else dictate your existence. Read count of monte cristo. You have implausibly escaped the captivity of the person you thought you could trust the most. Live and love that freedom that someone tried to take from you

Because he screwed up just like most dudes on this forum and got dogged by a leech who needed a sperm donor and bank account and was willing to play the con long enough to get it. Give him a break. You gotta get a lawyer and set up exclusive housing but if she stays in house she has to pay for it and you only provide CS. Hopefully you aren’t in the window for support. She needs to get a job and support herself
/r/Divorce_Men30/10/25 06:16 PM

Dude count yourself lucky. Get a lawyer and get out. Could have had kids and dealt with her the rest of your life.

It’s all the same playbook. People are responsible for their actions. I know it’s hard to get on the other side to see what’s happening to you but once you realize this is someone manipulating and using you then all the things you are describing like lack of gratitude after compromise, more and more, and the resentment will click. And that’s the going to suck the most, realizing it was all wasted effort. You even say it, you’ve been dishonest by doing more than you should in the face of all evid…

Don’t deceive yourself, it is conscious and it’s part of the manipulation. She has you second guessing yourself and continuing to give her the benefit of the doubt.
/r/Divorce_Men29/10/25 06:07 PM
7

Sounds like she has you just where she wants you. Guilting you into busting your ass to make it “work” on her terms. “No proof that you love her”. You are getting used and she’s projecting on you to make you feel like you have to be the one to work for a “relationship”. I’m sorry man. Start getting your ducks in a row. Get a lawyer. Plan a way out. Only gets worse, not better
/r/Divorce_Men29/10/25 04:40 PM

Smear campaign. Narcissist. They are good at it. Protect yourself. Wear body camera, have audio recording device. When they get police involved the system is built on filing charges and then letting you try and prove your innocence and all sorts of terrible repercussions of the process.
/r/Divorce_Men28/10/25 09:30 AM

Yes. Yes. Yes. Silver bullet divorce tactics. All I can tell you from my experience that liars win and honesty and humility get you screwed.

Get a lawyer. File first. Don’t say anything to you stbx. I’ve been where you have. Made lots of mistakes. Don’t do the same. Get a lawyer and get out of this. You don’t have kids, this will be easy comparatively
/r/Divorce_Men15/10/25 03:19 AM

You have a trauma bond. You don’t love her. The first part of this write up is ill conceived. I applaud your resilience but you need to examine that first part otherwise you’ll end up in another bad relationship.

/r/Divorce_Men10/10/25 01:33 AM

Get a body camera. Audio device. To carry with you at all times. Be very careful of silver bullet divorce tactics, it’s sounds like she’s primed for it

It was over 6 months ago. You have a trauma bond not love. She’s gaslighting you about your kids. Get a lawyer and file first. You’ll have a great life with your kids and work when you aren’t with them. Be very careful of silver bullet divorce tactics. This isn’t your “wife” anymore, it’s someone who stands to benefit from winning against you.
/r/Divorce_Men06/10/25 05:03 PM

She’s your enemy. She doesn’t care about anything that happens to you and is trying to ruin your relationship with your kids. Don’t say anything to her. Minimum communication. Never reference this. Let her seem unhinged. Hang in there.

Covert narcissist. Get divorced and get ready to meet the worst enemy you ever imagined. But you have to
/r/Divorce_Men19/09/25 09:47 PM

Literally by doing anything because of her, to spite her, or whatever, you are giving her power over you. You aren’t ever going to win anything by anything involving her being the goal. She’s a POS. Divest yourself of that shit.

Baby trap. She’s going to get half of your shit once you actually establish boundaries and she kicks you to the curb. Stop busting your ass for someone who doesn’t reciprocate. You’re so young and will still have wonderful life with your son. And there are people out there you could be in relationship with that will actually respect you and respect boundaries you have.

/r/Divorce_Men06/09/25 06:20 PM

Who cares about her. You are literally cutting an anchor dragging you down out of your life. Cheaters always cheat. This guy is just the next chump. Count yourself lucky to be headed towards a life on your own terms. I honestly feel bad for whatever poor guy is falling for my exes admittedly wildly effective manipulations.
/r/Divorce_Men04/09/25 05:58 PM

Get divorced for both of you. No kids. Both young. Move on and don’t cheat.
/r/Divorce_Men03/09/25 06:38 PM

Got used bro. Sperm donor and bank account. Of course no one should put up with that. It sounds like it was intentional, weaponized incompetence”. Narcs do this. Hope you are building yourself up and getting on with a better life with that in your rear view.
/r/Divorce_Men03/09/25 12:20 PM

Narcissistic family structure. Narcs families are either also narcs or enablers/flying monkeys. They are your predetermined enemies. Do not engage.
/r/Divorce_Men02/09/25 03:30 AM

Do not agree to anything. Do not talk about agreeing to anything. Don’t text about it. Get a lawyer and protect your future and your relationship with your kids.
/r/Divorce_Men01/09/25 04:43 PM

You are sperm donor and bank account. She’s using you. You’ve made some grave errors to get the point you are regarding her finances but that will be water under bridge. Get your ducks in a row. Talk to a lawyer. Don’t let on. File first.
/r/Divorce_Men31/08/25 09:53 PM

People who abandon others were only using them. Be glad this happened and you have nothing to regret being on the backside of a person like that. You have a great life ahead with your kids. Take care of yourself, build your new life for you and your kids, and just be thankful.
/r/Divorce_Men31/08/25 03:20 AM
11

“People abandon people they are using” Everyone should read that multiple times. People who say dumb things like fighting for their marriage and are giving away any agency trying to appease some entitled trollop who used them as a servant, sperm donor, and bank account need to be reminded of this.
/r/Divorce_Men29/08/25 03:08 PM
2

She was never the person you thought she was. Look up love bombing, mirroring, and positive projection. Stop letting her convince you that you are the problem. Don’t explain yourself. Ignore her.
/r/Divorce_Men28/08/25 08:39 PM

You can also sign it over with current rate but make sure you gets what due to you.
/r/Divorce_Men28/08/25 06:45 PM

She’s a thief
/r/Divorce_Men28/08/25 05:10 PM

Yeah don’t make the mistake of attributing it to post partum. Been there. Walks like a duck and quacks like a duck. Using your child as a weapon. Hope the best for you man. Get a good lawyer.

/r/Divorce_Men28/08/25 01:14 PM

Prepare now. Get a body camera and audio recording device. Get a lawyer. Read about silver bullet divorce. She can try and harm you, your job, and your ability to be part of your kids life if you aren’t careful. Protect yourself. 22 states have presumed 50/50 custody and though that may look different when child is very young you are going to have a wonderful life with your kid. You are right you are a sperm donor to this toxic person but now that you know that, get out. Better one kid than two …
/r/Divorce_Men28/08/25 12:36 PM

/r/Divorce_Men24/08/25 11:45 AM

I’m sorry man. I can commiserate unfortunately. Your fight was not without honor and I respect the hell out of you for sticking with it. I hope you have fair winds ahead with your boys.
/r/Divorce_Men24/08/25 06:41 AM

Get busy man. Workout. Find a hobby. Kids attention is transient and as long as they know their time away from you doesn’t represent any loss of permanence they’ll be looking forward to the great dad you are when back with them. You won’t get this time back. Better yourself. Have stories to tell. New things to teach.
/r/Divorce_Men23/08/25 06:09 PM
3

Get out. You are a paycheck and a weekend babysitter. Live your life and let her live hers. You’ll have a wonderful relationship with your daughter and will get somewhere between 40-50% of custody depending on state. Don’t sacrifice yourself for someone who wants nothing to do with you.
/r/Divorce_Men23/08/25 03:15 PM
10

If I were you I’d realize how lucky you are not to be married to that type of person anymore. Does it suck? Yeah. But what a worthless person, you should be thankful you got out when you did. I know it’s tough to deal with betrayal and that can’t be taken away but man you are lucky to be out of that.
/r/Divorce_Men23/08/25 04:55 AM
12

You will have a great life with your kids and there is no reason to sacrifice any of your self respect for a cheater. I wish I had had the emotional control to keep it under cover and get my stuff together better before filing. Get a lawyer asap. Don’t get angry at her, don’t argue, don’t send texts to her you don’t want in court. Your life is going to be great and not with this person.
/r/Divorce_Men22/08/25 09:47 PM

That’s the problem. They can do this all with impunity. I’m still getting hammered and case is being drug out forever but freedom has a price. My mistake letting it go as long as I did.

Covert narcissist. Textbook. What is going to follow is going to be painful and protracted. Hopefully you are in a presumed 50/50 custody state. Divorce is inevitable and you need to prepare. You are a good dude and I made the same mistake of thinking of the kids about how to have a healthy relationship with both parents. What’s going to happen is the person you married is going to try and destroy you. Do not fight with her. Do not text her anything other than objective information. Consult a la…

Covert narcissism. Read about it. Needs to be victim. Projecting on you. Smear campaign. Get your friends and support network in place and weather the storm. Be the best dad you can be and eventually her toxicity will show through to others and people who believe her aren’t people you should concern yourself with. It’s going to be rough. Hang in there and get a good lawyer.

You got used and she’s a legally enabled thief. Don’t fight it and get her out of your life. You’ll lose more on lawyers than that amount. Don’t look at it as losing but escaping and the escape cost $25k. Yes it sucks but the world is full of bad people. Be careful with your boundaries and kindness going forward.
