What I want to say is, can we change the opinions of people who deliberately choose to ignore men's suffering, even though they are presented with shitloads of actual, concrete evidence and examples showing that men have it worse? Is there anything we can do about it? Or is it up to them to come to this realisation? I actually have no idea if it's possible, nor if there is any point in trying to do that. Ultimately, I would have to support the latter claim. It would be infinitely more meaningful…

...only accept your struggles as legitimate when it happens to their loved ones... But this is the whole point. I'm suggesting that they don't actually care about the issues. All they care about is the fact that it happened to someone they are personally close to or affected by. It's why I hate these "revelatory" anecdotes so much. In all of these posts has anyone actually changed their views, or do they just come here for cheap points and, once the moment has passed, slip right back into their …

Upvoted and agree entirely. It's pretty fucked that no one realizes the gravity of these actions until they are faced with it themselves.

For many people, it's not until they see how unfairly their SO, father, son, or friend are treated that they realize there is an inequality... This is part of the problem though, isn't it? No one seems to care enough about the issues until they start to directly affect them or those important to them. If people can't understand that there are potential issues that men face, it's only for lack of trying. It's simply because they don't care to even think about them. Rather than saying, "Glad you f…

This shocked me initially because he was born in 2011 when plenty of online info. was available. I understand that in this world people will be ignorant and/or stupid because they are prone to it. Nothing can change that. Plus the dad was against it but not strongly enough to put up a fight. This is rage inducing to me. How can one claim, with a straight face, that they care about their child if they refuse to fight for even their basic human rights? As far as I'm concerned, the father of that c…

I love how savage he was towards Richard Hammond on Mock the Week. Man, that show used to be good a long time ago. But everyone seems have their own idea of the perfect panel.

Thank you for your reply. I read your post and see what you're getting at. If you marry and divorce 10 times in your lifetime, it still only counts as one person having gotten married and divorced at least once, not as ten. I was wondering if this wasn't already taken into account when the statistics are compiled. Naturally, I'm sure it depends on who/what organization is taking the statistics. Does the definition of "divorce rate" vary significantly between countries (is there a difference betw…

Isn't the divorce rate among people married before 30 over 50%? Meaning pretty much everyone now is more likely than not to have married and divorced at least once in their lifetime? Not saying our current society is "done" with marriage, just that it looks to be heading that way for sure.

I forgive my folks for having it done to all of us, they didn't have internet so people went by accepted wisdom then. I still have a hard time forgiving my parents because, to me, it feels like it should be a priori knowledge to realize that circumcision is mutilation and that mutilation is wrong because it violates basic human rights to bodily autonomy and integrity. One shouldn't require internet to come to such a conclusion. Then again, you may be correct in the sense that if there is no one …

And thank you for your dedication in continuing to oppose it. I only mention the 'hate' bit because it seems that every so often you'll see a thread concerning male genital mutilation and many, many of the men commenting in those threads will make it a point to note that they are circumcised and enjoy/feel comfortable with their bodies (or their sexual experiences) while also saying that anyone actively opposing it is simply whining or not focusing on an important issue. I think it's true that s…

Yes, I am circumcised and against it. I don't remember exactly if there was one moment where I just felt like, "I need to be in opposition to this". However, I have been following the MRM, MGTOW, RedPill, and other men's movements for the last several years very closely. I think the first time someone pointed out the glaring double standard of considering any cosmetic or religious procedure done to women as mutilation while not doing the same for men was the first time I vehemently agreed (I hav…

My nephew is 3 years old now and it still kills me that there was nothing I could say or do to my older brother or his (then) wife to make them reconsider or abandon the idea of circumcision all together. When I dared to even suggest they should think of it as a violation of his basic human rights (and that alone is enough to reject it), I was scoffed at, laughed at, and told, "Your mind is being poisoned by Men's Rights". I don't really know how to forgive him for allowing the mutilation of his…

They'll just think we're a bunch of angry misogynists who just want to lash out against feminism They think this about us already. How many times does this sub have to go through this? No amount of anything (demeanor, tone, etc.) will change that. I'm fairly certain that has been proven so exhaustively it is frankly tiresome to revisit it.

Not sure about 6oodfella, but I'm pretty sure Janet recently put up an article on JudgyBitch pretty much saying she's anti-vaccination. So, obviously, that doesn't help. :/

the hypocrisy there is on such a crazy level its hard to comprehend That's not even the worst part. She went around claiming that cheating on one's partner without their knowledge essentially removes consent from sex and is therefore akin to rape. So, I suppose, by her own logic, what she did is "rape" her own boyfriend (now ex). Not only this, but, according to her ex, she had sex with these other men and himself without the use of a condom...multiple times. Honestly, at this point, I try my be…

Considering the fact that the specific agenda of A+ believers leaves atheism as pretty much the default remaining position on the topic of religious belief which at least isn't explicitly incompatible with some parts of their beliefs means it's that or make up your own new religion. I know you are on to something here since it is true that being atheist in and of itself isn't necessarily at odds with any inherently non-religious ideology, but it still seems like blatant cognitive dissonance and/…

"Oh god..." moment when I realized that someone I respected was in fact brainwashed by that, the most hateful and mindless of the cult of feminism... That was pretty much the same feeling I had when Matt Dillahunty came out in favor of the whole Atheism+ thing. It seems so strange because, Feminism is, for all intents and purposes, a cult. It has all the elements of a cult. All religions are the same. Atheists are usually able to resist religion because they can recognize cult tendencies and cha…

I recently graduated from NCSU. I had several friends who used to write for the Technician during their undergrad years as well. I wasn't aware they published such nonsense. Then again, it is a college paper and we already know this kind of attitude is prevalent on college campuses/in academia.

Are you implying that women are never violent towards each other? Does that not also constitute "violence against women"? The fact that your base assumption is that whenever violence is committed against women, it is the fault of men, is telling. I don't really expect you to see the irony in saying, "That is literally misogyny", when you've made an incredibly misandric statement.

By definition, a meritocracy is one in which those who are the best at a given job will be given it. Also, humans do have largely differing capabilities on an individual basis. Certain individuals will be better at carpentry, sales, etc. than others. The point is, if you are successful in a given position, it is largely because you either have an innate talent for it or because you have spent time and dedication cultivating your craft. Are you suggesting we should attempt a social engineering pr…

Actually, being in a "fair" world doesn't necessarily mean that the numbers in overall population need to be reflected in every single specific field. I could easily argue that in a "fair" world, the people most qualified for a job would get it (already the idea of the supposed meritocracy we live in). The fact that you think certain people should be inserted in areas simply because you are hooked on some strange notion of equal representation being "fair" is concerning, considering you aren't e…
