That doesn't matter. If the mother doesn't have a job or makes much less than him then the courts will make him pay child support so that the children have a good environment for the 50% of the time they are there. That's their rationale

I'm just telling you the court position. They will always take why they think the child would need from the other party no matter whether it makes sense from a fairness standpoint. Say you end up with a 50/50 custody and the mother only makes 20k per year and you make 100k per year. They will make you pay child support so that the child will have everything needed for the 50% of the time they are with the mother, regardless of the fact that you are already paying for your own 50%. Yeah, I'm OK with alimony as a temporary thing so that the stay at home spouse (or part time) has some time to get on their feet and get into a new job. It should absolutely not be some sort of permanent unemployment benefit which is how it is being treated

Child support doesn't take into account anything like that since everything is based off of what the children need not what is fair for the parents. Alimony might, I dunno.
