Maybe where you're from but the UK has citizens arrest laws, so far from being highly illegal, is specifically mentioned as legal within the required parameters. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1984/60/section/24A

This is what I don't understand, everything else aside, you don't get paid what you're worth, you get paid what you can negotiate with your employer. Maybe in general men are better at negotiating? Why should an employer increase the salary of everyone just because someone else is good at negotiating? Why should I get a reduced salary just because someone else can't negotiate well? It's the whole equal opportunities does not guarantee equal outcomes.
